Glad to see a video like this. Mules have gotten a reputation meaning mean and stubborn. While they do exist. The exact opposite is true as well. The last team my grandfather (1895-1966) had, included one of each. Jack, was very mean. Kate, was so gentle that as a young boy, she was trusted to be with me.

Mules are so sensitive, and people don't realize it. Hugging Alice's head was perfect. All a mule wants is your love. When they love their person, they'll move mountains to please.

When I was in and did the cold weather package, several females attempted it and none actually did it all. They all fell out of the hikes and I had to carry all the gear the left behind. They dropped their rifles, packs, sleds, and a medical litter. But they did get drove up to the camps, but they complained the whole time.

She definitely sucked her breath in.

When I was young my Dad kept a couple mules to plow the garden when the plants were too high to use a tractor. They are smart animals. He used to throw us on top, slap them on the rump and it was all we could do to hang on as she made her way to the barn. Dad paid them in corn, after working. He used them frequently around the farm. One year he made a snow sled and took us house to house delivering groceries for people. Good times in simple pleasures.

Cpl. Young, do you have previous experience with equine? I noticed watching you try to get her to lift her foot you seemed to be struggling, try grabbing further down her leg closer to the hoof and giving it a nice firm demanding squeeze as you pull back on her hoove, typically this sends the right message and works wonders on horses with rather spirited tempers
