Parking is an issue for sure but for me, we travel a lot and it's nice to be able to drive. It all depends on what you want to do. I like to take long trips and stop at lots of places along the way. Plus I must get back and forth from the farm to the city whenever I want. Most forgivers I know here have at least a motorcycle but a lot have trucks also. Also depends on where you live. Everyone is different some want to drive other do not. Regarding the LTO 10 years of driving here, I have never had one issue with them. In fact, they have always been more than helpful. :)

@@WonderfulPhilippines23 I live in Laguna on Luzon, many fellow Expats have been killed on the motorcycle and an Expat in Calamba Laguna got into an accident not his fault and the other driver called I guess a family member cop, this Permanent Resident Expat (with wife and kids) ended up sitting in a jail for 3 years awaiting trial where he showed the webcam video and was exonerated the police officer got a letter of reprimand. I really don't have a need where we live because the AC buses are just minutes away and so one less expense to deal with, if I do need a day out I can rent a van it's got to be cheaper I just can't see the logic or need to waste so much money in my retirement and this is the reason I try to tell Expats not get stuck on the islands like Dumaguete or similar because you'll need to buy a vehicle.

@@mcalleyboy5820 I live in Cagayan de Oro, I do not drive in the city so often for all the reasons that you mentioned. I think for most expats there is no need for a car. I could not see life without one, however. On a side note, there is nothing on this earth that could get me to drive in Manila or Cebu, haha.

You get it back they only check the information on it like your name, age, date it expired and such. But you do get it back

@@WonderfulPhilippines23 Thanks for this valuable information. Here in Europe, the authorities make sure that you will have just one driving license. They will keep the foreign one and send it to the originating country back. If authorities revoke one, you could always show the other.

@@thomasmuller9243 Wow, thats crazy! It is not like that here in the Philippines it server no purpose since you can't drive with your foreign license anyways here. I do know that some countries however will allow you to drive for 30 days after arrival with your foreign license.
