Clas Haven Farms
США
Добавлен 28 ноя 2019
This channel is dedicated to my grandparents and their dairy farm. The farm was sold in January of 2020. It had been in the family since 1952. While not a long time to some people it was something that meant a lot to my family. Miss them and the farm, but the lessons and values they taught me will be present in my videos.
You can expect to see videos on collecting and processing firewood, servicing and maintenance of equipment used on the property, tips and tricks on gardening and planting trees, and caring for our chickens. If I can show someone something they can use in their life then everything I'm doing is totally worth the effort. I feel like we are losing this as a society. Main objective with this channel is to help viewers and give them confidence anyone can do anything if you put in the effort. I'm not an expert and I probably mess up more than I get it right but my grandfather would always say. "Do the best at whatever you do in life because people respect that."

Cedar kindling will cure that initial smoke. Starts fast.
We just bought a house that has one of these owner did not finish duct work. The one pipe is open to the basement right below the bedeooms. It has a false ceiling, do you think heat will make it to bed rooms?
Its a split level and bedrooms floors are right above it.
The heat will rise. If you're able to cut a vent in the floor, that will help. Right now, that's how I heat my upstairs.
You can also put a fan at the bottom of the stairs to help blow the hot air up.
Put the shelter version in my old farm house a couple years ago it replaced the original wood fired gravity furnace works good just make sure not to over fire
Absolutely! That stainless steel firebox does not like it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
wow you stuff it full wood for long hot burn
It will burn out fast if you don't. That stainless steel firebox is definitely different from an old cast firebox. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I've plucked birds before and it is NOT fun. This Vevor plucker looks awesome, I'll have to get one... soonas i evently get to building my chicken/ turkey/ rabbit tractors 😂
You'll get there.
Have the same stove in my 3 stall, well insulated shop. L&M purchase too. Had it for three years and replaced the cheap commie draft motor once. I control the air with the draft motor flap on the side. This does two things for me the shop stays at 65 where I have the thermostat set and second it increased my burn time. It's barely been above 10* for a week and a half, -15* at night and it's worked great again this year. The key thing to anyone reading my comment is use ONLY seasoned firewood. Don't be stupid and try burning unseasoned wood you are wasting your time. wasting heat energy trying to burn off water. greatly reducing your efficiency, and slowly plugging up your chimney with creosote. Mine is dried two years under my woodshed. And like the content creator says, once a year on the chimney cleaning, barely anything in the chimney. Change your air filter at least once or twice per heating season. I wouldn't say anything unless I have done this for a while, 45 years now, and want to help others get out from underneath the man and do it safely and efficiently. Great video and demonstration, all the best.
All perfect points. This furnace does not like unseasoned wood. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I was considering buying a Fire Chief until I talked to a dealer that used to sell them. He said that they are good looking stoves but he had a lot of problems with them cracking. He said that the metal is so thin that it can't be welded very easily when it cracks. He now sells DS Stoves. Just look at the weight difference between the stoves. The DS is almost 400 lbs heavier.
Those are some of the complaints I saw from people. I'm on my third year of use as my primary source of heat, and it's not tied into a duct system as I don't have central air. As far as the weight, I'm glad it wasn't heavier as I would have had a hard time getting into my house. To each their own. I'm happy with the purchase of this stove. I guess time will tell. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I’m starting a small Junk removal business with my Subaru Outback. This trailer is going to be perfect. I just need advice. I’m trying to save money everywhere I can. I currently have the option to buy both the older generation brand new and a next gen brand new. Is it worth the extra $200 or will I be just fine with the older option?

My opinion is that having used both trailers, the next gen is worth the extra $200.00. I absolutely love the next Gen trailer.
Good Evening Sir, Very Nice Firewood Stove 🔥👌🧐👍Very Nice tradition at Arlington 🙏Nice Puppy Dog and Keep Warm and have a nice Happy New Year Cheers 🧐👍👌🍻
Thanks, Dave! Happy New Year, buddy. Oh, we had a quick dusting of snow last week. Keep warm up there, buddy! 🇨🇦
I have 2200 sq foot, I have two Ashley woodstoves , just about same dimentions as your stove.. one in livingroom the other in familyroom.. Both are wood Hogs and any which enter my home tell me its too hot!! Lol.. Happy New Year Sir!!
That’s a lot of heat! I’m definitely happy with my wood furnace, and I think it’s a great option for heating a larger space. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have a piece of channel Iron with a kingpin welded on it that I use to pick up the back end of my semi trucks by the fifth to roll them into the shop if they won't drive under their own power I have used it to set my fifth wheel in and out of the bed of my truck as well
That's an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing.
Is there an affiliate link?
Yep, it's in the description, but here it is as well. s.vevor.com/bfQKKG thanks for watching and commenting.
Thx for posting these 790 videos. This made life easier for me bc mine need a new battery
No problem, I'm glad it helped.
Great video. I just inherited my uncles farm and his JDs Haven’t ran the 790 in years thx bud! Gunna check out your battery video next
I grew up around JD's. When I see the older ones, especially the 4020s, it always makes me think of my grandfather. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Those poor children and dead chickens
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Did ya ever get this one running? Is that replacement coil made for a 6 volt system?
No, I've been slacking and working on other projects. I need to just put a few hours into it. I bought a 6 volt replacement. Thanks for watching and commenting.
My Vevor chicken plucker died after the 1st chicken. I did the next 16 by hand . Customer service is useless.
I'm sorry to hear that. I've used this plucker for two seasons and haven't had any issues.
My shack would burn down if I put that much wood in the furnace! :o
Temps last night were 14 degrees. If I don't load this stove like this, it will be a long, cold night.
Thanks for the video! Do you have a link to the wheel kit you're using?
I don't. I got it from Temu. I haven't installed it yet. I plan on doing so before spring time.
Thanks for the well done vid. Very helpful for me and I loved watching the pups. :)
Awesome, I'm glad it helped. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have been looking at different pluckers. I'm ready to invest in one. I appreciate your insights. Thank you! Sincerely, Lisa Dain at Dain Farms. 😊
This turkey plucker is great for plucking turkeys and chicken. Don't forget to click the link in the description! Thanks for watching and commenting.
The SCV lock lever on my 790 has been moved and I can only curl or dump the bucket. How do I move this lever to unlock the bucket movement?
I have no idea. I've never had that problem.
Great job! I appreciate the information. I have a shelter brand. It pretty much operates the same. Thank you for doing the video!
No problem! Thanks for watching and commenting.
can you use a top link on the back?
Yes, you can. This one just doesn't have one. I have bought one for it.
How do u not need a big chimney,or atleast need a pipe going straight up
I have a six inch pipe that vents into my chimney.
You should do another video on the furnace!
I was thinking about that last night when I was recording this short.
We were mid 50’s Monday, single digits Wednesday night in Indiana.
We haven't gotten that cold yet in Southern Maryland. We were 22 last week one night.
Thanks for the video. New subscriber here, I am moving to Indiana and buying some acreage for my family (12ish acres). Looking to buy a classic tractor just for some basic brush hogging. Would you reccomend something like this for that type of application or something more like a Ford 8N perhaps?
I'd recommend whatever is this size and the best price you can get. When you're just starting out, it's better to keep it cheaper and learn your routine instead of jumping in with a lot of debt and stress. It also depends on what you're going to be doing with the land. This tractor doesn't have auxiliary hydraulics which would deter some people. Best of luck with your new adventure!
@@clashavenfarms6714 great, thank you for the advice. I plan to find an older tractor in good running condition just to use for brush hogging. This confirmed what I was kinda thinking so thank you.
I invested in Premiere One poultry fencing because it was highly recommended. What I found was that my chickens walked right through it, so it was worthless for containing chickens. It contained ducks, sort of. I lost two that got themselves trapped in the fence and died and had to rescue one by cutting it out of the fence when I found it. I had someone tell me that I was wrong to think the fence would contain poultry, it's just meant to keep predators out. On its face, that person was just wrong. Still, my experience was bad enough that I don't plan on using the poultry netting again, ever.
I've never had that problem with the poultry netting. My chickens can definitely walk through the goat netting. I'll probably pick up more of the premier netting for my meat chickens in the spring. I definitely wasn't happy with this Vevor netting.
You need a guard donkey
One more thing to feed 😆. I'm sure the Chicken Whisperer and Lily tamer would want one.
I've tried the Vevor and bought some from Starkline at the same time. The starkline is much better. The vevor seems to sag a bit at the top, so after I get it set up, I wrap the top line around each of the posts to help take out some of the slack. I also use a deadman and line to support any corners.
I did the same thing. I'm definitely happier with the premier one netting. I've heard of starkline but have never used it. I'm probably just going to use this Vevor netting as a walkway for the goats when moving them.
Coon, coyote would have jumped over.
Good Morning Sir, Truly and OUTSTANDING Informative Video About The Vevor Poulty Netting 🧐👍Very Nice Fence Charger 🧐👍These Hawk birds are not fun at all 😢😢 Be Well Sir Cheers 🍻🍻
Hey Dave! I hope all has been well with you. How much snow have you been pushing all ready?! 🤣🥶
Glad to meet an honest man.
It's easier that way. Then you don't have to think about what you say or do.
Camera. Dash cam Azdome M01 Pro $35 works out of vehicle too just hook it to its power cord and cord hooked to cell phone charger.
Too far away from a power source. The fence is charged from a solar battery charger because of this.
Why would you use a dashcam? That’s not what they are for. There are outdoor game cameras made just for this, and they are very affordable.
@@clashavenfarms6714 the camera can also be powered off the fence charger battery or another solar panel. And they can record continuously in a loop or otherwise. The little Azdome can do over 11 hours of recordings in 1 minutes, 3 minute, or 5 minute segments end to end. And can do that from a distance unlike a trail cam. The dash cam can also be used at the house, or in the car once the problem has been solved. From internet: trail cameras do not record continuously. They are triggered by motion or heat changes in their environment, capturing photos or videos when they detect movement. They don't do that at a far distance
Well my original reply seems to have disappeared, so. Dash cam can be used anywhere including out in the back forty, it can also be ran off the fence charger battery and the solar panel. It can be used at a distance. Trail cams are close up and are triggered by heat or movement, of neither are dash cams. You can also put the dash cam in your car, your house or to just monitor the entire area. On the other hand trail cams can't be used for much more than that. Dash cams these days can be gotten for the same price as a trail cam.
@@bravowhiskey4684 dash cam can be powered off that same fence charger battery. It can also be used as a security camera. As well as a dash cam. Trail cams work off of heat or proximity to take a pic or vid. Dash cam can be utilized to show a large area. Many of them don't cost anymore than a trail cam but can be utilized for many uses. Trail cams can't be used as dash cams.
Looks like you need a sturdier fence.
I'm sure whatever it was got a nice shock as it tried to get off the fence.
Burn coal
If I could have still bought a dual source furnace, I would have. I grew up burning coal. It's also getting harder to find coal where I live.
The black knob in the middle below the seat is for speed of drop for the 3 point arms. The little black lever by the loader control lever is to lock out the loader lever. Early 790's were 30 HP. Later 790's were 27.5 HP and all 3005's were 27.5 HP.
Thanks for the good reviews! ⚾
You're welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I’m curious, do you feel air coming from the sides of the face and rear of the furnace? I inherited the same stove with a house I bought and I’m not sure if he ruined it. There seems to be some warping in the air vents where the blower air comes from inside the door as well as the top weld on the door frame is cracked.
I don't have any of those issues.
I grew up with a 48' WD , I believe the manufacturing date is cast on the bottom of the rear axle. It's a fine tractor for a lot of small farm work, we had a 3 bottom plow, a disc set, a snow blade for the 3 point hitch. And it was great for getting through rough wooded trails when cutting wood while pulling an overloaded 8' truck bed. Also Allis Chalmers was the first tractor made with rubber wheels, and held speed records for decades I think. I'm a bigger fan of the narrow front. 👍
Thanks for the comment. I really need to get back to working on this project.
How long does it burn? Does it burn all night?
With seasoned hardwood and a good bed of coals, you can get about 8-10 hours of burn time. Usually, in the morning, I have a nice bed of hot coals to get the fire going again. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Awesome Andy…. How is it on chickens?
We used it on two roosters. It did fine. We did plug it up with the roosters' feathers, but that was after 5 turkeys. We just had to pull the clogs out, and it finished the job perfectly. I'm working on that video now. It should be out later this weekend. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Do they make them human size
Yep, they have a perfect one for internet trolls. Thanks for watching and commenting.
It be a good bath tub for a few stinky boys! Ha!
Girl who knows her job and by the look of it taking it very seriously
Looks like owner and dogs are ALL LOVING THE LIFE.
Living the life. It's her job she would be sad without doing this.
You are correct. Lily and Ruby live for this. I'm so thankful I'm able to provide this life for them.
She's so happy. Has to make sure you are safe ❤❤
Yep, she is very protective of me, the kids, and our livestock.
