Sounding Bowls @ Mystech Webinar
MysTech Seeks, Through Spiritual Science, to Advance Our Moral Cultivation Of Technology, brining the whole human being to engage where the intellect otherwise dominates.
Regular online seminars in diverse aspects of this question included this interview with Tobias K, the creator of Sounding Bowls, the unique musical instrument first appearing in 1986 in Devon, England.
Here Tobias demonstrates and talks about why Sounding Bowls have such profound effects in human lives that even more people use them in therapy and healing than in performance of music.

The Ritual Wrap is a softness of the Great Mother. It is a Mary-cloak, a touch of the Sacred Feminine enfolding the most tender birth of your bowl. Womb-like the ritual wrap gestates the precious sound that harmonizes your meditations, harmonizes all you bring to it. Lords Prayer Gestures

Prayer is sometimes the best intervention we can make. The inscrutable reasons for events in our lives can later reveal important moments in our development. Instead of being in conflict with what is happening, sometimes the best thing we can do is place ourselves and the issue in the hands of our Maker. Amongst the many prayers we can choose, one holds a most complete set of archetypes. The Lo...

Melody Bowls of this 12 string size are my favourite performance instruments. The Phrygian mode tuning suits my music well though I usually play Aeolian phrases, having the dominant as the base note makes the whole experience more flexible, So much of my music starts with that Dominant-Tonic jump. Cherry is a favourite for this size with its bright tone but some people prefer the stronger tone ...
Tuning a Hermetic Bowl

Hermetic Bowls, like all stringed instruments, need frequent tuning. In this short guide Tobias shows the simple steps that bring you and your instrument back into tune with the cosmic wonder that is Music. Each step is an honour-process. Wonder and Joy are the keys to heaven. When you make a ritual of every part of music making, it feeds you most deeply.

In these journeys so as to find peace, contentment and the higher order , we meander through nature that is full of music, rhythme,sound, smell and fragrance. • @SoundingBowls-4u
      @SoundingBowls-4u 2 года назад

      Is yours designed to have only two strings? or are the rest just missing? Does yours carry my signature on the base, or is it maybe a copy? Those few I made with just two strings were commissioned by meditators to provide a sound-source as a gateway to higher consciousness. The realms of the unthought universe can be accessed through sound and particularly through interval. Tuning the two strings to different notes gives you access to the basic conditions of creation that flow through relationship. All that is comes into being between two poles. Choose notes a third apart, or a second apart or a minor fifth, for example, to develop the relationship between the aware self and the creator. These are deep levels of meditation that not everyone strives after.

    This isnt a corny question but do you believe that trees communicate with each other? And if so what do you think their conversations are? There was someting about this on BBC Radio Four recently.

    • @SoundingBowls-4u
      @SoundingBowls-4u 2 года назад

      Hi Jeremy I am in no doubt that they do. I am reading Susan Simard's 'Finding the Mother Tree' and finding it extremely brilliant and beautifully well written. I have read a good deal on this issue, Peter Wohlleben irritates me with his anthropomorphic overtones, but he has done a lot to popularise the issue in his 'The Hidden Life of Trees.' Personally I take the issue a lot deeper, concomitant with my explorations of the nature of consciousness itself and collated a group of exercises into the exploration of tree-consciousness here: soundingbowls.com/product/cd-brotherhood-with-trees/

  • @WoodomainJeremyBroun

    Do you use scientific equipment to measure the purity of sound eg oscilloscope?

    • @SoundingBowls-4u
      @SoundingBowls-4u 2 года назад

      We are not after a pure sound, Jeremy. We are after a rich and affective one. At every stage the artistic process has been the main guide. I discovered the acoustic curve accidentally soundingbowls.com/a-short-history/ and only developed my realisation that this was a Fibonacci curve later. We map out each bowl on paper, using Fibonacci/exponential curve templates then we allow a small amount of belly along the architectural principle of gravity-influenced curves first seen in Greek temples. Then we apply the curve to the wood using the artistic eye and only check it subsequently. This allows for human care to intervene between mathematical perfection and artistic/healing result. The only meter we use to check on the sound is human responses. Certain types of bowl are more likely to reduce people to tears than others but all types have been seen to do so. This is the result that matters most to us, the Human response.
