Part 3 - Starting Tomatoes Indoors
Просмотров 6599 месяцев назад
In part 2, I showed how I started my tomatoes this year in red solo cups that were half full of dirt. Based on the plan, once the plants were taller than the cup, I would fill in the rest of the cup and the plants would then develop roots all the way to the top of the cup. I got the idea from another youtuber - and it works!! Just thought you would all want to see the progress. ruclips.net/vide...

    Good video. I never candle my eggs because taking them out and the temp differences can kill the embryo. Also accidents happen like dropping the egg by accident just enough to crack the shell. Better to just be patient and find out later on hatch day.

    Did your temp and humidity levels fluctuate a lot but not below 98.8 and up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and anywhere between 30- 51% humidity? Some people have told me that 60% is ok. It’s my first time incubating quail eggs. I have 38 jumbo pearl fee eggs inside my nurture right 360 right now… they have been in there for 5 days already.

      @@fixngrow I have a blanket wrapped around it and I also have a blanket on the table they are sitting on… my house has poor ac and heating… not all the cool air or heat reaches all over the house, and I have a lot of windows, but I keep them closed anyways. I don’t have a basement either cuz southern california or most of California in general don’t have basements in their houses. But someone told me that it’s normal cuz it acts like a mother hen in a sense. When she gets up to eat some food and drink some water the temps and humidity will fluctuate. So cross fingers that my eggs will be ok and hatch out at a 80% hatch rate.

    • @waltroderick101
      @waltroderick101 Год назад

      @@kathleenmonsegue9700 Yes, some fluctuation is okay - but you really don't want changes of more than a degree on a regular basis. Like you said, in real life the hen would occasionally get up to eat, but if ever watched a chicken sitting on the eggs, the don't move off of them much.

    I keep my male in a cage by himself across from my cage with the females. He stays pretty quiet as long as he sees them. I have very sweet birds I stopped all bad behavior by putting all hens on the ground with a sand bath and food & water 2-3 times a week they go out in morning and put them back at night. 5 hens to a cage. No one pecks or fights. I put colors on the cage and color bands on the leg to make sure the right hens go to the same cage every time. I have such a happy group. I let the male out with them once a week to visit hes respectfully. They have a good routine.

I have a Hova-Bator 2370 and it does an amazing job keeping the heat consistent. You don't get the clear viewing window but you'll certainly get a better yield I would think. I doubt you have sterile roos. After watching your last hatching videos I was thinking it would be interesting to see if maybe it was something else like their food or stress etc. I find incubating, hatching and raising birds fascinating and looking forward to getting my quail house set up and start my own hatching! 😁

    Just a suggestion. Any time you take your incubator top off. It’s good practice to turn it off. It constantly runs when it’s like you had it. The temperature can get way up there. When you put the lid back on it will raise the temperature of the eggs. Just a suggestion.
