    If I took the waterwall diverter out and put it back when it wasn’t all the way back is that a problem? Is there a way to fix that? When I run it, the waterwall goes to the back and seems like it keeps trying to go back for several seconds before it then goes back forward. Is this the magnet problem or the fact that I reinstalled the waterwall arm mostly forward when the new motor thinks its new installation position is all the way back for the waterwall? (I can see the waterwall trying to go back when it’s already back, by running it with the door open and a screwdriver in the side of the door slot so it runs. )

      I think the magnet would address this. When the dishwasher starts its cycle it goes back to the 'start' position. But without the magnet (in some models) it cant detect its actually in the 'start' position.

      @@patricksollee6682you say for the magnet, any bigger than the size you purchased would have been too thick. Can you say the size magnet you got? Maybe look up in your Amazon purchase history? I held a flashlight butt end that has a magnet on it, right against the left side of the sensor and it stopped the waterwall going back. I tried to hold the flashlight magnet near the right side and it didn’t stop it going back. Maybe I just need a very strong magnet so contact isn’t needed for detection. Knowing what magnet thickness you got would be very helpful.

    (This is about: how to easily remove middle rack from your Samsung dishwasher). This is a awesome educating and very helpful presentation you have made! You must spent a lot of time to make it that way. Thank you very much! Also... I wouldn't be myself if I would leave everything "too beautiful" :) So when you go to your presentation exactly at 12 minutes - you mention a difficulties with middle rack removal. I suspect that you must have done it some how a wrong way, because it is actually very easy. Those two little plastic "brackets" (inserts) - one on each side of the rack are the key to free it. Lets say we talking about a piece on the right side - just like the one you show on your picture. Notice, there is a little square on top of it. The only thing you need to do, is take something thin (a small screwdriver, etc. ) and push this little square down, to make it bent down a little bit, but pushing it down, push it in direction away from the rack in the same time. That little square is raised up a bit, just to hold the edge of the metal bar... So doing that - you would make the edge of that square releasing the whole plastic piece, which will kind of pop down and away from the rack. In my case it didn't even fall down. Then you do not try to pull it up! You easily (I used my fingers) grab it from the right side... It comes out loosely... These two plastic pieces - simply block 2 (of 4 total) bolts which hold a whole rack. These bolts sit in kind of elongated slots, with notches on one side. So when you remove these two plastic pieces - you make just enough space for bolts to move in slots - up to the notch and then you simply pull up the rack. I did try to put these little plastic from the top when assembling my dishwasher... And now I know that this is simply not a way to do it. You just need to put it in exactly the way you did pull it out. (Always make sense anyways. LOL) So I just slid one in - bottom first - exactly into place where the notch is - and just push it in toward rack. Clicks in like the easiest thing ever. Try it! It really works and it is super easy! OK. Two more things: 1. Sorry for my broken English (emigrant here). 2. If you think that I wrote all of this to make you feel bad or something like that - YOU 100% WRONG! A proof? Here we go: I know how to remove a middle rack, not because I am super smart, but because I was watching how the other guy does it on his youtube video :D So, please - do not judge me ;) It is all about helping people and you did such a great job, so I wanted to be a bit helpful too. For you and for others as well. Have a great day my Friend!

    Thank you for this video, it really helped me. The new sensor did not detect the magnet on the bottom of the diverter base so adding a larger diameter neodymium one did the trick. Went through all that work and though I'd have to harvest the old sensor which I see you considered as well. Heads up, the neodymium magnet you used will rust. You can use epoxy coated ones and they won't. Epoxy coated ones will usually be black. Easy to tell them apart. Non coated ones are silver.

    Just fixed this issue today. I had the dreaded 7E code. Washer would run for about 15 minutes and then stop. I replaced the motor assembly (about $115 from www.samsungparts.com/Default.aspx) and placed a rare earth magnet underneath the water wall carriage (the thing that translates the deflector back and forth). The magnetic force is strong enough to keep it in place during a wash cycle. I just completed a successful cycle. Tip 1) To remove the lock ring, use a soft blow hammer and flat head screw driver. Lightly tap the screwdriver against one of the ridges on the lockring and it will effortlessly rotate. From a bird's eye view, rotate it clockwise to loosen and counter clockwise to tighten. Tip 2) The tab to remove the middle tray is very easy to uninstall. Take a butter knife, press down lightly on the upper lip of the tab and push it outwards. Installing it is just as easy. Only light pressure is needed in both scenarios. I took 3 hours to do this job. Would have been 2 hours if I figured out how to remove the lock ring with the hammer/flathead sooner. Lastly, I noticed that my waterwall deflector is significantly harder to manually move back and forth with the new motor installed. With the old one, I could move it back and forth pretty easily. Just proof that the motor was is culprit. Thank you Patrick Sollee for putting this video together.

      under the gray plastic thing that the diverter is connected to (that moves with red diverter). when facing the dishwasher, its on the right side. The magnet sticks out a little on the side. It is held by magnetism, no adhesive used. Pull out the diverter and place magnet under the gray plastic thing. It should stay there by magnetism. Then run dishwasher. The magnet will shift a little and end up to the right a bit. But it stays in place for me. The magnet allows the new sensor to detect the "back" of dishwasher so it can change diretcions.

    I had this exact issue with my Samsung Waterwall from April 2014 (DW80H9930US/AA-00). I followed your steps which required both the motor replacement and the magnet. It has been working perfectly for 10 loads. No issues. I ordered the Nozzle Cover Assembly (Part #PD00035417 | Mfg #DD97-00216A) from the PartsDr.com for $102.76 I also ordered the "DIYMAG Powerful Neodymium Disc Magnets with Double-Sided Adhesive, Strong Permanent Rare Earth Magnets for Fridge, DIY, Building, Scientific, Craft, and Office Magnets, 1.26 inch Diameter, Pack of 6" from Amazon (item: B06XD2X45M) for $10.99 I appreciate the time you spent putting together this clear presentation on the steps to do this repair. I was grateful to find your video during the pandemic to avoid having a repairman visit my house. My only mistake was not setting the gray rings correctly which allowed one of the tubes to have a slight leak. I assumed they were threaded but you really only need to lock them into place. The slight leak resulted in triggering a leak detection error. Good grief. But after allowing it to dry over night. The dishwasher has been running perfectly.

    Great video - thank you! I just got the 7E error the other day - happens after about 6 minutes into a quick wash - interestingly, if I remove the Waterwall reflector and just let the dishwasher run without it, it completes the full cycle. If I put it back on and run it again, error comes back. Almost like the waterwall reflector is weighing down the grey holder/carrier - perhaps the motor is no longer able to drive the weight/pressure from water jets? I also checked in test mode (n5) and it does the same thing. I'm assuming I have to replace the motor, but not sure about the sensor (on my model it appears to be a separate part/cable) - the sensor cable costs as much as the whole motor! Any suggestions on what my next move should be based on the behaviour I am seeing with that error would be appreciated... Here are the parts I think I need related to my model (DW60H9970US) : Motor = shop.onlineappliancespares.com.au/part/m1523749-289182/46097 Sensor = shop.onlineappliancespares.com.au/part/m1509913-275346/46097

      Hi, sounds just like my case. When the water jets shoot water to the reflector - that puts extra load on the motor that moves it back and forth. Knowing what I know now...I would just replace the motor in your case. If you do replace the entire part (like I did) you may also need the magnet, depending on your model year. Pretty sure now that there is incompatibility (sensor location moved) in the new entire part vs. the old one. Good luck! BTW - mine is still going good - done more than 20 runs on it.

      The part I bought was: Samsung Dishwasher Nozzle Cover, DD97-00216A. The pictures look the same, the motor has same writing on it....but the one you found is much cheaper....$35 vs $100. You could buy that part and pull the motor out......since here in US at least the motor is about $100.

    • @elhavis
      @elhavis 4 года назад

      Had to reply to share my experience (took a few weeks for the part to ship). So I purchased the Nozzle Cover as per my original link - the image looked right, but the price didn't (AUD$35, about USD$25). Luckily, it was correct (bargain!) and this is what I received: imgur.com/gsfd8Bx So I went ahead and installed the whole thing and it all seemed to work well - 7E error was gone, but I got the magnet issue - next, I tried a magnet in the same location as your video, but didn't work for me - interestingly, when I taped the magnet to the waterwall reflector on the other side, it worked! So, I ran a couple of washes through, no 7E error, but started to get leak errors (LE). Checked the connections and found that the plastic ring that holds the main motor wouldn't didn't quite fit right and it was leaking at that spot. Then I decided to take the whole Nozzle assy out and compare the old and the new and discovered some differences. 1. The sensor in the new unit has a different orientation to the old one (explains magnet issue) Old unit: imgur.com/6ZlXai2 New unit: imgur.com/4p48nC1 2. The new unit had a different mould shape around the motor then the old unit: imgur.com/P5PNrU9 This explains the fact that it didn't fit quite right and hence the leak errors. So, I did what you suggested and just swapped out the motor from the new unit to the old unit and everything worked fine after that - no magnet required and no leaking! Have run it about 6 times and it's been perfect. Thanks for all your help - learnt a few things and saved several hundred dollars in the process! P.S. the company that I bought the parts from (onlineappliancespares) discontinued all Samsung parts soon after I received mine - hence, the links I originally posted above, no longer work!
