    Retired University Astrophysics Professor, Professional Aerospace Engineer, and Seaplane Owner/Pilot: Absolutely best design on the market currently today! She definitely checks all the boxes! 1.) Rear Pusher Prop: better protected from spray erosion than any other design. 2.) Bi-wing Design: Far more lift and stability in a more compact area! 3.) Sponson Design: Stout and Short for Rugged Durability. 4.) Modern Glass Cockpit: No current aircraft should be without it! 5.) Robustly Constructed: seaplanes work harder than just about any other GA aircraft! Kudos on an Aviation Industry Benchmark!!!! Only thing missing is a 4 place version!

      I have a design that is a conversion of a large jetski hull. Tandem articulated wings, Low CG mounted TC Subaru with spool drive to halfshafts to each counter rotating variable pitch prop. Jet pump on switched coupling (Mag) for maneuvering and initial launch run up. Differential propellers eliminates a vertical stab. Going Autonomous 1st. Once set, it can fly to a Sea rescue and "board" a passenger. Close canopy, pump out the bilge and find a rolling wave to launch from. Onboard FLIR can monitor the rescued and forward to USCG vital signs.

      We can definitely try to do a video comparison on that. The Icon is a great plane, but the specs of the Petrel dominate in every performance category, even more so with the Super Petrel XP being produced now.

      This LS model is half the cost of an ICON with way more performance capability. Just no folding wing option. Is there any reason why you would choose ICON with its limiting capability?

      I guess I didn't fully answer your question. The 912is LS model was 213k. The LS has sold out. They are now only making the XP variant, which has the 915is engine for 289k. Still almost 200k less than ICON and even more performance than the LS, which already beats ICON easily.
