FCB Lounge is a channel dedicated to FreeCAD BIM tutorials. FreeCAD is a free open-source software, which can be used for BIM modelling and creating of documentation in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industry. FreeCAD uses IfcOpenShell technology for working with IFC file. It can edit and create IFC files natively.
FreeCAD BIM enables creation of BIM projects in the architecture, engineering and construction field.

Enable Legacy Python DXF Importer and Exporter in FreeCAD
In this quick tip for FreeCAD I show how to enable legacy Python DXF exporter and Importer. By default, the new C++ DXF importer and exporter is used, but for some usecases, legacy import/export options might be more suitable.
Users can turn on legacy Python DXF importer and export in settings of the application. There is an option to automatically download the legacy libraries.

How did you download the ODA DWG-DXF converter without being signed in? All i get is a popup asking to sign in. Unfortunately there is no clear guide how to sign up first.
They must have put the downloads behind the login since I made the video. I guess you can try the "Free Trial" button and create a login that way. I suppose that you could than download the file converter. The app itself does not require login, so you can use it for non-commercial purpose without limitation. Let me know if that works. I did not try so I am not certain it is the right way.
The download link for ODA just sends me to a sign in page? The LibreDWG seems to work now I've updated freecad.
Good to hear that LibreDWG works well for you. The second ODA file converter link should send you to the product page, where you can download the software. No sign in required.

That is a good question. I originally thought it is free for commercial use (because there is no EULA when installing the software). But after some digging I found out this: www.opendesign.com/faq/question/what-are-oda-viewer-and-oda-file-converter So it is only free for non-commercial use. It is strange, that they do not mention it on the product page or anywhere in the software.
