I need help! I don't know how to hydroponic LY grow my grocery store Basil in an apartment
Excellent video. Love your friendly approach and informative content. I'm inspired to give it a go!
Here in the Central Valley California we use poly tunnels all over the place. You need to frame out the ends on this with wood and the plastic won’t last forever. I have also seen people add pvc pipe robes in between the steel ones so you won’t get a belly when you have heavy rains. They also run 2x4 around the base so it won’t blow away and the plastic stays tight.
Good video. I needed to know how to test this. Thanks
Holy crap! You're the Brit version of Iraqveteran8888
That rock shit sucks. Every seed I stuck in it died
Had mine for nearly a year , used slabs to hold the tails down on the sides and some long spikes on the lower rails to anchor as well . Has held up really well during the winter storms , no rips. Used it this growing season for french beans , peppers , bok choi and loads of salad veg and it's performed really well. For the price ( i bought the 12 x 6 ) i would say it's worth the money.
I wish mine had lasted longer! I bought some metal stakes for it and then it was obliterated by the wind! The pieces came in handy though so it’s not a complete loss.
I moved away this year from manufactured tomatoe fertilizers and stuck this year with home made using grass clippings and nettles to make a fertilizer. So far all is looking great, only trouble is the smell ;)
I have a lot of comfrey here so I have tried that before but not inside for the same reason hahaha
Same here, can’t hear you
no vocals
I can’t wait to start thank you so much 😊
Good luck I hope it goes well!
I’m sure those sea weed enriched bags are not a good idea. Got two this year from Aldi. Both were useless. Won’t buy seaweed again….
I haven’t tried those ones, the quality has dropped considerably since going peat free. I think the majority could do with an extra year of rotting before using them. The ones I used last year went in a tub and it’s proper black compost this year.
@@GrowIt interesting thought. Maybe I’ll get a few now ready for next year
I found one of these somewhere. I just refound it in my clutter. I am thinking of destroying a free caravan and building it onto the chassis so I can tow it around. I have no idea how it will stand up to being towed. I have seen caravans being offered for free. It's just an idea at the moment. I am too busy just now.
It would definitely be cool to see that’s for sure! Maybe with enough reinforcement it would survive a slow tow but anything beyond that and it’ll look like mine did! Lasted all of 6 months.
Can u post another video on their progress? Would love to see it 😊
I forgot last year so I’ve got another one this year to do it! It’s on the way haha
Quite warm 🤦♀️ it’s 31c right now ow at noon. My tomatoes have some leaf curl but also are stunted compared to last year. I think it could be due to the heat though. Great update Barry 👍, have a super week, Ali 🥵🌞🫠🇨🇦
Thanks Ali! I think I have a 5 degree tolerance window and anything outside of that I’m not happy haha! It’s just been rubbish this year but the greenhouse is keeping things over 20 at least. I hope it doesn’t stay that hot for too long Ali keep watering!
What sand did you use
Mannn!! Thank you so much 🙏🏽 I definitely found a hobby I love🥰 I’m grateful
I’m glad you enjoyed it thanks!
It’s going to take more than a punch to destroy it!
It is fun though.
Heya, the Roma is a semi-determinate bushy variety, hence why it's shorter than the Sungold :)
Ah great thanks, that makes sense! I haven’t tried them before so I hope they’re nice.
@@GrowIt I grew them for the first time last year and have some again this year as they are nice firm tomatoes, best for cooking with. The skins peel off pretty easily if you roast them. They are commonly used for canning and paste.
@Bexyboo88 that’s perfect, my san marzano seedlings didn’t do very well so I was disappointed to not have a nice cooking variety on the go. Looking forward to them!
hey can you make a small one that is smaller than this? I need one for my school project
You can make it with a smaller box and just reduce everything to match the volume of it, I’ll try and do a video of one soon.
@@GrowIt hi! have you made the video?
Amazing 🎉.
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Hi. I need advice on my aubergine plants. It's my first time growing them from seed. When will I start seeing flowers on them.
I’ve only tried them once but I think it took around two months I dont think it was much different to tomatoes.
Ok thankyou. My tomato plants have got flowers on. I am feeding them once a week with tomato feed. And seaweed feed in between. @GrowIt
@midlifeadventures.7532 I found aubergines a pain to grow you’ll have to let me know how you get on with them!
I will do.
I just watched the build video and so I have not yet purchased and will think twice. If I do I will definitely reinforce the base by setting it on a timber frame securing the piping with heavy-duty zip ties and screwing the timber into the ground. However I don’t want one as large as yours and feel I can make it less vulnerable. In fact I made such a base for a 6ft by 6ft greenhouse and getting the base back up proved to be very hard work. I have the materials so that’s not an extra cost. The holes in the cover put me off mostly. Did they appear before the collapse?
"... start off by looking at the instructions. That’ll be a good idea ...": I burst out laughing. Useful video thanks.
Definitely gonna try this. just sliced a big juicy heirloom tomato of some sort we got from the farm market that they grow and did as you show here. guess I'll see in week or so if they will grow
Why are u putting a ph meter in soil
YES!......it certainly does work,.
Fantastic!
Be a Karen and demand a replacement tell them that “it was not of merchantable quality, nor fit for the purpose for which it was sold” demand your consumer rights! I would have bawled my eyes out, I have to say you are taking it very well😊
😂 I am traumatised….I had absolutely no idea that 🐀 rats would eat tomatoes 🍅 or 🫑 peppers 😮 I stopped feeding the birds years ago because I am phobic about rodents. I grow all my tomatoes inside a greenhouse on a concrete base in pots, but I usually had a Gardeners Delight and a few baskets of hanging ones outside. I got one of those arches from Lidl and was thinking about growing a tomato plant on each side of it outside this year. But you have scared the 💩 out of me now! Please tell me that my outdoor tomatoes would not bring rats into my garden so I can sleep at night? Or at least stop talking about those creatures in every video or I might have to unsubscribe 😂 (and stop complaining about your English weather….try growing tomatoes in Belfast and you’d be grateful for the weather you get over there!
I saw something saying the water will rot the roots if you don’t use clay balls, is that true?
No, the clay balls are for support and act as a wick for the water to keep moisture around the roots, they aren’t needed with NFT systems like the one in the video. Root rot is usually caused by lack of oxygen or something else in the water being out of balance.
do you think a universal 20-20-20 npk would be a good idea for somewhat big tomato plant?
Great little video I wouldn’t of put anything down on that floor as I would’ve used it as a no dig straight away in that poly tunnel👍👍
I did get 6 more of the metal raised beds to go in there, but the tunnel lasted about 6 months before suffering total obliteration by the wind! It would have been nice too.
You can do this with the bottom/base of your celery and romaine too. They grow like crazy!!
Thanks Barry, good luck with your growing! Hoping the weather picks up here! Sick of bringing in the Tomato plants over night in June 😂
It’s rubbish isn’t it, I can’t believe the difference between them and where they were up to last year!
My tomatoes were either eaten by slugs or have leaf curl 😢 really crappy season so far but hopefully 🙏 some good days and warm nights they will pick up. Have a great weekend Barry, Ali 🌦️🌞🇨🇦
It’s been rubbish hasn’t it Ali! Luckily the garden centre had a load of tomato and pepper plants for 19p each so I don’t have to use my sad ones!
Thanks saved me a load of bs 😂
But not too much, then they will die :(
Welcome back Barry. Nice to see videos again 👍 have a good week. Looking forward to see how the experiment goes
Thank you it’s nice to be back at the allotment finally!
First
It took you 12 minutes to actually do something. People who watch RUclips want action straight away. Just thought I'd let you know.
People who are patient are a lot more wiser and usually have a bigger brain. Just thought I'd let you know
@@greeney76 That is true. It was just a pointer from a RUclips viewing perspective.
Hi Barry, will be interesting to see the results on the different fertilisers. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I’m going to try everything to make sure these tomatoes make it to harvest! The wildlife aren’t having them this time haha
Well well look who’s back, good to see you Barry, Ali 🌧️🌧️🥶🇨🇦
Hope everything is going well Ali!
Did any of the grow bags produce fruit?
Hello unfortunately the polytunnel was obliterated by the wind so everything was wrecked!
Really helpful thanks
Thanks! I did an update on this tunnel a couple of months ago, it completely snapped and fell apart over the winter! Avoid Outsunny if you’re looking for a polytunnel.
Oh that's not what I wanted to hear. Ours has just been delivered.
Aww wow love the video! You have a deep passion for plants, it’s fun to see. Heh, you know I’m actually pregnant and we just found out it’s a boy-fingers crossed they are so sweet as you hah! And find that thing they love to do as well. Thanks for the video, I have a cherry tomato and a hanging basket, I thought i might try something like this and your video confirms it. Woot woot!
I love your video. Thank you for shering this. Tita from Atlanta.❤
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
