    U could also just make a brooder and make the bottom wire so when they poop u can use a water house to wash it away if it on concrete that’s what I do and u can just put a heat lamp or Wtv u use in the brooder for heat

      Usually presents as confusion, lethargy, lack of CO ordination, but the time symptoms present it's typically too late to do much about Usually happens to the young, old, old or stressed, or during pregnancy or immediately after. All you can really do is make sure you have the proper choice mineral available.

    SOOO.... skip to 6:02 to see Able's idea of 'the best'...too much weight and cost... change wood to pvc pipe, change cattle panel to welded horse fencing, change roof bracing to pvc pipe curved over to hold up horse fencing. use thin pvc corrugated panels for roof and down sides to preven wet chickens, add large bucket to hold chicken water and connect it to auto chicken waterer, add 1/2" pvc pipe over feeder to prevent filth/scratching. Have fun!

    You can also soak the meat in a water and baking soda mixture for a little bit before you cook it. Works best. Then you can use it however you like.

    Great video. One of the best. Few tips (may have been mentioned already). 1 - It's beast not to sever the head completely since cutting the wind pipe can cause the heart to stop pumping and you lose the blood draining advantage. I used to do cervical dislocation thinking it was more humane, but it really isn't and you end up with blood in the tissue near the bones. 2 - put a few drops of soap into the scalding water to break the surface tension. This allows the water to penetrate the feathers and get closer to the skin. You will need to adjust your dunk time or temp (140-145) according to your preferences.

    What made you decide to go with Dexters? I'm on the fence regarding cows... we have one, an Angus/Milking Shorthorn cross... and honestly, I'm a bit intimidated by her. Wondering if there is a "calmer" and easier to handle breed. Dexters are smaller, right? What are the benefits of them over other breeds?

    • @TheAbleFarmer
      @TheAbleFarmer 10 месяцев назад

      yes they are the smallest natural breed. the cows are under 500lbs. very docile and resilient against the elements. smaller cattle need less inputs, meaning I can have more animals on small acreage. they do excellent on grass only because the breed has not been commercialized and bred to grow fast and big. The meat is suppose to be excellent. (haven't eaten it yet). also my family eat about 1/2 a beef a year. a whole dexter should be close to 1/2 of a commercial beef.

    Hi I bought some Ancona's from a gentleman a couple years ago. He lived in a small town called,Pekin. His water source was like that of yours . The farm looks similar with the wood railing. I was just curious to see if it was that same place. The guy I bought my Anconas was in his 50's and was a veteran. Loved the set up and you are right about small duck ponds becoming filthy in short order. I wish I had a source of water like yours. Thanks for sharing,my friend!
