After 5 years of using the cintiq 16 ice noticed these problems. 1st the price of everything. Aside from the back then 1800euros price of the tablet it self, You had the stands for minimum 80 euros extra or 300 euro maximum. The foil that was also an extra etc 2nd problem was the ergonomics. Where on a technical standpoint the screentablet was a 10 out of 10 the ergonomics get a 0 out of 10 for me. Neck, shoulder, and waist problems should come to any ones mind when they draw 6 hours plus on these tablets. Also in 5 years ive never mastered drawing on a fricktionless surface. Glass. Overall drawing on glass was easy to learn but almost impossible to master. Where as the screenless tablet has the same quality drawing wise and gets a 10 out of 10 in ergonomics. Drawing on plastic was also way more comfortable. Best thing about screenless is you can have your cintiq 22 and upwards for only 300- 400 euros if you plan to buy a 4k - 8k monitor. While having literally the same pros as a screentablet offers

Been digging into using pen tablets lately, one day I decided to turn off the screen from my Innovator 16 for the funnies. Weird at first, but been a banger and oddly enough it feels like playing a videogame because of the hand-eye coordination lol Been thinking about buying one and leaving the linework to my Samsung Tab if necessary, only thing that bothers me is the battery inside the new pen tablets. Will that reduce its durability? Batteries are quite iffy and its dangerous to go around with a defective one.

I'd absolutely love more. I'm someone that grew up drawing on paper, so I've had a pretty rough time trying to transition to doing it electronically. I'm more of an animal drawer, rather than people though. My main subjects are cats, dogs, wolves, and once in a while horses. I'd really love if I could get better at the cats. The ones I want to draw/animate are tough because of the different bodies for different breeds. Especially, long-haired cats.

Your problem with the screen not working in some area, is because by default tablets map to all screens, in one area. It stacks them together by default. To make it work, you have to change the tablet setting to map screen to only the tablet's screen. Quality depends on the brand. having a full display and power circuitry is always going to be more expensive. Brand names are more likely to be higher quality because they usually focus more on their reputation.

XP-Pen is well-known for paper-like pen tablets. I have one from them, Deco Pro MW, and I'm getting another from them for a more portable one, especially for my brand-new, lovely Tecno Pova Pro 6 phone (I was using a Blackview Active 8 Pro as my main mobile device, which is quite heavy since it has a 22k mAh battery, after my great Xiaomi Note Pro 8 started to wear down a bit after 4 or so years), without the care of shortcuts, too, and I'm getting the Fun XS, which are so cute. Hehe. Shalom. <3

I appear to have been luckier with my cintiq 13hd. I've had it for over ten years with no technical issues. However! Using it really sucks lol. I've never found a posture for it that doesn't eventually cause pain and discomfort, often much sooner than later. Before that I had a large intuos and I was able to use it comfortably and easy. I've been looking at getting a larger display tablet. Seeing reviews about broken products and hassles with that, and also the cost alone is absolutely bananas. On top of that, it would require me to buy a new desk and just go through a lot of struggles to get it in a position that works with no guarantees. I was contemplating buying a new intuos and came across your video. Which reminded me "oh yeah! I can just use this as a non display tablet!" Instantly I was able to actually get comfortable and find a position that works, and not having my hand in front of the screen is so wonderful. Not to mention my monitor is much larger than the 13 inch cintiq, so I can actually have all my pallets and stuff open without losing screen space. I definitely feel wobbly with it, but after a few hours that's getting better. There was a learning curve when I got my first intuos so I know if I just jump in and do it that will get better. Anyway thanks for sharing your experience!

I use both so I'm not completely dependant on a screen tablet.

XP Pen customer service is exactly what made me give up on the idea of buying the Artist pro 16 2nd I so wanted and get a pen tablet instead.

I use a pen tablet - never used a display tablet but issues like price, and posture, are important. Another one (which relates to the longevity) is the versatility - if you replace your laptop or desktop PC you can use the same tablet with the new one. Or keep the same PC and get a new tablet. Or use the tablet with another computer.

The 6th point is the most important. Normal tablets help a lot with eye / hand coordination.
