    Hello. Good for you! Your home looks lovely. It’s wonderful that you have realized your dream. Your grande pare is thrilled knowing you have returned. I visit France frequently. In 2023, spent two weeks in Paris in January 5 days in Montmartre and 10 days in the Latin Quarter. In mid September I returned to back pack from le Marais, to Saint Malo, Mount Saint Michael, Angers, Caen, Honfleur, Issy les Moulineaux and the Latin Quarter of Paris. I stayed for 5 nights each in prearranged airbnb traveling solely by SCNF, local trains and buses and on foot. I speak a bit of French, enough to find my way and interact with wonderful people. Hopefully I’ll return after the new year. All my best, Joe, retired in Cape May.

    Bonjour, Le Louvre a été inauguré en tant que musée pendant la Révolution (1793) et Carnavalet presque 100 ans après. Pourquoi dites-vous que Carnavalet est le musée le plus ancien de Paris?

    • @Allons-y.Charlie
      @Allons-y.Charlie 11 месяцев назад

      C’est sujet à débat. Oui, pendant la Révolution française, l'Assemblée nationale a décrété que le Louvre devait être utilisé comme musée et une exposition de 537 peintures fut organisé le 10 août 1793. Cependant, en raison de problèmes structurels avec une aile du palais, l'exposition a été interrompue et fermé en 1796 jusqu'en 1801 ainsi que le fait que Napoléon I et Napoléon III utilisèrent encore l'édifice comme palais royal durant leurs règnes.

    My husband and I visited the Carnavalet several years ago and enjoyed it tremendously. Would love to once again see Georges Fouquet’s jewelry store, which was designed by Mucha. My husband just stumbled across it while I was much too slowly viewing other exhibits😂 It would also be great to see the bust of Madame Sevigne, who recorded volumes of history in her personal letters as it occurred and which fortunately was preserved for research in the many years since.
