You could try putting the black varnish on a string or yarn then lay it over for the stripes like a stamp to creat more consistancy

Also just to add a further note for anyone considering buying this….I’ve had no response from flycast at all after I’ve returned the faulty vice. The vice came with a nice little flyer in saying how great their customer service is and how they have a passion for doing what they do. Quite frankly….that’s a load of tosh. Cheap rubbish…and they know it.

I ordered this for my nephew having a similar one for 30 years. Unlike this video, everything was in bags and lying loose in the box…fair enough I thought, probably bought in from abroad and sold on, nothing was damaged so no great shakes. On making it up and checking it over…..I found the jaws didn’t even shut! I wasn’t expecting a top of the range vice, but I was expecting one that was functional and held a hook, this didn’t and couldn’t. Disappointing. A simple check before dispatch would have spotted this and saved me a load of hassle…..

I’ve just ordered this mate. It’s £40 now but still looks unbeatable value. I need a free standing vice and this looks perfect

You should do a couple of Bronze Mallard flank feathers as well. Once you get in the rhythm, it goes well!

Are you aware of other clubs along the Itchen that are more budget friendly? I am aware of the two free stretches and intend on visiting them this year, time permitting.
