it's awesome the way they reference the bobby soxers since that was Frank's first really big appeal. This is about my 5th watching of this movie. Some of it seems silly and is obvious comic relief, but they brought to light some of the subtler shades of addiction. Like the vested interests of people keeping you addicted and keeping you down. The addict doesn't have to just fight his own cravings, he has to fight all of those people that want to keep him sick. For its' time, it is a remarkable window into the world of addiction.

Was going to watch this until l found out Frank Sinatra was in it he is a total non actor
come back! This is truly his greatest film, IMO. I never thought he could act either, but he's awesome in this.
It sounds like this was recorded this from a stream without having good reception. There are good copies of this on RUclips. This would be barely watchable if it was the only copy available.
Brilliant story. Brilliantly acted specially by Frank Sinatra, Eleanor Parker. Kim Novak too was at her best. I really loved watching.
For me the star of this film is the stone cold be-bop track The film score was composed, arranged and conducted by Elmer Bernstein, and the soundtrack album was released on the Decca label in February 1956. Director Otto Preminger had a solid casting call: Frank Sanatra, Kim Novak, Eleanor Parker, Darren McGavin and Arnold Stang (“Sparrow”).
I'd heard about this film, but if it was made in 55, it probably hit theatres, the year I was born. I never knew what it was about, but H-wood tackling heroin addiction was brave. Of course there were addicts, they made Heroin illegal around 1910, I think, because it was worse than morphine.
Only good thing about this film is was. Kim Novak. Yeah baby it's my happening n it freaks me out man😂
If anyone ever doubted Kim Novak's acting abilities, this film proves she has more than good looks!
