It's interesting because verse 14 says: Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen." At the end of the parable. Food for thought..... An Illustration of Salvation: Lazarus Come Forth! While Jesus raised two other dead people (Mark 5:35-43, Luke 7:11-17), the raising of Lazarus is certainly one of the greatest miracles recorded for us in Scripture. The man whom Jesus loved died in order that the glory of God may be revealed pointing to the deity of Christ (John 11:4). With just His voice, Jesus created life in a man who had been dead for four days! This seventh “sign” in the book of John is meant to compel everyone to believe in Him. An Analogy of Salvation But the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead also serves as a precise picture of salvation. Salvation is the sole work of God whereby He grants life to those who are dead in their sins. Unable to help themselves, sinners have no ability to grant themselves life. Instead, life is granted by the mercy of God. Salvation comes to those who are dead, when the powerful voice of Jesus calls them and they hear His voice (Jn 10:27-28) and Jesus grants them eternal life. Jesus alone has the ability to grant life. He alone is the resurrection and the life (Jn 11:25). A Real Dead Man It was very important for Lazarus to truly be dead. Jesus actually stayed two additional days where He was ministering so that there would be no doubt that Lazarus was truly dead (Jn 11:6). When the tomb was opened, Martha declared that surely there would have been a very strong odor, because Lazarus had been dead for four days. In the same way, sinners are spiritually dead in their sins and trespasses (Eph 2:1). This has significant theological importance. Every sinner is born spiritually dead with no ability or power to make any significant contribution to their salvation. Just like Lazarus we could not see since we were blind (2 Cor 4:4), we could not understand spiritual things (1 Cor 2:14), we had no volition to do anything toward God (Romans 8:7). Sin had left us all totally depraved so that none of us sought after God or had any merit before God (Rom 3:10-18). An Effectual Calling Lazarus, being dead, was only revived when the powerful voice of Jesus called him out of the grave. This is certainly a beautiful illustration of what happens when sinners are saved. Salvation begins in eternity past in the sovereign election of God (Eph 1:4). But in time, salvation begins with a calling! This is a very technical term which describes the voice of God calling His sheep specifically (1 Cor 1:2, 9, 24, 26). This call comes through the preaching of the Word of God. When the Gospel is shared, those who are the sheep of Christ inevitably hear the voice of God. Jesus said clearly, “All that the Father gives me will come to me….Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me” (Jn 6:37, 45). This calling is an effectual calling. This means that those whom the Father calls will inevitably come to Christ. The powerful voice of Jesus does not fall on deaf ears! It was not possible for Lazarus to remain in the grave. When Jesus called Lazarus by name, he was made alive and walked out of the grave. A question that we might consider is, “Was it possible for Lazarus to remain in the grave?” And the answer to that question is an emphatic “No!” The reason is that the purpose and plan of Jesus cannot be thwarted. All who are His sheep “hear” His voice and come and follow Him! Made Alive Those who are called are also immediately awakened from the dead and “made alive” (Ephesians 2:5). Life was granted to Lazarus immediately. The power of Jesus recreated everything that Lazarus needed immediately: new blood, new muscles, new organs, a new brain and so much more. The same is true spiritually of those who are saved. When sinners are “born again” they are granted new hearts, opened eyes, a freed will, and an understanding mind. In a word, all new believers are “new creations” (2 Cor 5:17). Promise of Future Resurrection The resurrection of Lazarus was a foreshadowing of a future permanent resurrection. While Lazarus was not completely made perfect, the promise of Jesus is that all who have believed in Him will be made perfect in the future. We call this glorification. Not only Lazarus, but all who believe in Christ will be given perfect bodies, bodies that are powerful, perfect and everlasting. The Apostle Paul summarized this whole salvation process when he stated, “Those whom He predestined, He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified” (Romans 8:30). Our Response Just like Lazarus, every true believer was dead in the grave of sin and Jesus called them out by His mercy. Immediately Jesus told those around watching to unbind Lazarus from his grave clothes and let him go. Lazarus needed initial help to unbind himself from the clothes that bound him in death. But once he was set free, Lazarus was to live again for the glory of God. While not stated it is certain that Lazarus gave praise to God since He had no room for boasting (Eph 2:9). The only response we have to our salvation is praise to our sovereign savior who grants life. But also, just like Lazarus, we are to throw off our grave clothes and “live to the praise of His glory” (Eph 1:6, 12), since we are “God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Eph 2:10). The story of the raising of Lazarus is also our story of salvation. Those who are true believers were dead, heard the voice of Jesus, were raised to life, and now strive to walk in a manner pleasing to the Lord.

*Calvinism is a FALSE GOSPEL.* Jesus died for *ALL of us* (John 1:29), (John 3:16,17), (John 4:42), (2 Corinthians 5:14, 15), (Romans 5:18), (1 Timothy 2:6), (1 Timothy 4:10,11)... etc. A “god” who, being able to choose, chose the *immense majority* of humans to be destroyed in hell!!, not to be saved… *is NOT a loving God, is NOT a merciful God.* My calvinist friend, you are not better than anyone. God didn't see anything special in you. Nothing. You are not worth a cent more than any of the billions of souls that your “god” is going to send to hell without any possibility of choice. The only reason God could choose you without violating His character, without being a respecter of persons, (Romans 2:11) is because He knew in advance that you would respond positively to His call. “For many are called, but few *CHOSEN.* ” (Matthew 22:14) *FREE WILL = LOVE!!* "I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; *CHOOSE,* therefore..." (Deuteronomy 34:19). Also, *the Bible does NOT say that we are totally depraved beings.* Be very careful friends! This statement could well come from the mouth of satan himself, who is completely depraved. *We still carry the image of God!* Let's not forget it. And because of that, we can *BELIEVE* and respond freely to God's call for salvation. *That limited atonement is an abomination.* Heresy of great caliber. There is nothing exclusive or limited about the cross. Nothing!! *He paid for ALL our sins* (Isaiah 53:6), (1 John 2:2), (John 12:47), (1 John 4:14), (Titus 2:11), (Hebrews 2:9). That is why Jesus commands us to preach to every creature in every nation. Irresistible grace? Not only is it a heretical concept (Acts 7:51), but it is absurd in its essence. Grace is a gift by definition. A gift that cannot be refused... is not a gift, it is an imposition. *Once saved, always saved, no matter what you do, it is one of the devil's biggest and best lies.* The Spirit of God is not up to nonsense! The entire New Testament is full of warnings, from Jesus and Paul, against apostasy. Warning someone of a danger that does not exist is stupid. The Spirit of God would never do such a thing. We need to study the Bible, but we urgently need to take off our Calvin glasses so we can see. Prayer and fasting. By the way, cessationism is another heresy. *All* the gifts of the Holy Spirit operate today for the glory of the Lord. God wants you to know it. (Sorry for my english) *THE END IS NEAR.*

Brilliant!!! Thank you!!! SO good and well-delivered!!! Here's some of my thoughts on it all... ; ) Welcome to the world of Calvinism. The following words found throughout holy Scripture will now be highly logically problematic - both to the natural reasonable man, and the spiritually illumined one: "If" "Reward" "Choose" "Punishment" (now practically meaningless and totally incoherent in light of the Reformed theory of compatibalism and irresistible / effectual grace) The following words will now also have to be somewhat "tweaked" (utterly changed from what they clearly and simply mean)... "Love" "Desires" "World" "Sovereign" "Whoever" "All" Finally you need to get used to cherry picking a couple of verses outside of the context of the entire swathe of the Book, Epistle or Gospel where they are found, and conflate and confuse individual justification / incorporation into Christ with corporate ministry and election. Oh! And please DO NOT research about how Augustine of Hippo practically reinvented the meaning of the word "Predestination" or the view of the human will and its relation to the Divine one as it was classically understood in the early Christian Church, and how one of his greatest fans - John Calvin - picked up this novel (non Christian) doctrine (double predestination) in the 16th century and stuck it on steroids: John Calvin calling it "the terrible doctrine" - which it is of course - but not for the same reasons he was applying the term... Now that you're a Calvinist you will be keenly aware that this doctrinal system (see the doctrines of grace) seems to tarnish the character of God and human moral responsibility and accountability (even though it sincerely and rightly seeks to stress the primacy of grace)... but remember! You are honoring God and His Scripture by swallowing this hard to swallow view of Sovereignty (meticulous determinism), Election and Reprobation (unconditional election), and man only having the illusion of free will (total depravity / inability)... The thing is though (between you and me and the entire Christian East and much of the West who do not hold to Augustinian Calvinism, and who all but you minority of Reformed folk, reject double predestination) you're not actually honouring God or his word in conforming to this system, you're actually simply honouring the thoughts of these men and their interpretive tradition) 😬✌️💚😂

I never realized that he was using "snippets " from the Old Testament --something that he EXPECTED the readers to understand 😮 His purpose was to show our inability on our own to be saved, NOT that we have a despicable nature from the womb🙌🏻

Total Depravity" is a concept that has been "comprehended" humanistically. John Calvin does not imply that man is separate from God's creation and directives. He implies that man in his fallen state is incapable of saving himself and putting himself "in Christ" as the Apostle Paul has written.

Please show me where free will and a natural repentance that cause God to save and sanctify the apostle Paul? No sinners prayer. No seeking Christ. No offer by Christ as if Paul had anything to say or contribute to his salvation as a chosen vessel in the service of Jesus. No choice in the matter of his apostleship. No choice in the scope and sphere of his calling. No say in the manner of his suffering, imprisonment, and death. Paul says he is a pattern of salvation of all believers. The wicked and perverted mind and heart of man imposing his enslaved sinful will on the holy scriptures. We will see how all this plays out on Judgment Day when the secrets of men's hearts are revealed by Paul's gospel. I give all glory and honor to God, who saved a wretch like me in spite of my path to perdition because of what Christ provided on my behalf as Savior and redeemer. If God didn't intervene and deliver me from the power and curse of sin, I should have been lost and damned forever.

I think this guy is way too lenient on calvinism. They don't differ on "minor things", they completely change the gospel of Jesus Christ and it is absolutely heresy.

There was also no law at that time either. This is why sin was not imputed, even though they did sin. Today we have no excuse and are to give an account. Why did Paul cast out the two men in 1 Timothy 1? Why did he tell the church to cast out from among the church the man who was a fornicator?

Ever heard of repentance? Ezekiel Chapter 18 21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. 23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? You're a part of the problem with the church being full of workers of iniquity.

If a person is unable to hear and believe the gospel under Calvinism Why preach to persuade so that they may believe? Why did Jesus speak in parables? Why does Satan blind minds? Why send a strong delusion so they might not believe? Why did Jesus say ye are unwilling to believe ? How can the unrighteous hold the truth in unrighteousness? Why are hearts hardened? Why did the LORD look, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God?

Calvinism is extra-biblical Christianity. No one would become a "Calvinist" if they stuck with Scripture only. The only way to learn it is to be introduced to it it through a Calvinist author, preacher, or teacher... who also learned it from a Calvinist author, preacher, or teacher... or who has been a student of systematic theology.

Welcome to the world of Calvinism.

It appears no one can answer this. No man CAN come to me unless it has been granted by the Father. JOHN 6:65, or ALL that the Father gives me WILL come to me . JOHN 637a. The natural man does not seek after the things of God, neither can he know them for they are Spiritually discerned. 1 CORINTHIANS 2:14 It is by His doing you are in Christ Jesus. 1 CORINTHIANS 1:30 As as many as were Appointed to Eternal life believed. ACTS 13:48 Just because this man is learned does not mean he's correct.

All the references you gave are famous for having been ripped out of their contexts and made to bolster the false claims of men who are also learned--- but not in the Scriptures, as much as in Reformed confessions and catechisms.

I still haven't heard a satisfactory answer to "why does he find fault?" Who would question God like that when all he is doing wth the clay is punishing freewill agents using their agency to si and do evil? Who would call that unjust? In what way does God add consequences to actions of free will agents lead Paul to say "who are you o man to reply against God?" Can the leopard change its spots or the Ethiopian his skin? NEITHER can you change your ways who are accustom to evil. Moses said God has delivered you from Egypt but like Jobs ostrich he has deprived men of a discerning heart yo understand hence there is NONE that understands etc

There is a consistent error in these refutations of Calvinism, stated in the first 30 seconds of this video. The teacher says God has "picked out" those who will be Elect. No, that is not even remotely what Calvinist doctrine says. Rather, God creates individuals whose sole purpose is to be with Him in heaven, meaning there is no point at which they are picked out or chosen. That is why Calvinists, if they are honest, should mark through the words _chosen_ or _choose_ everywhere they occur in scripture.

This is a crime the way he abuses his position to indoctrinate people by misrepresenting God and scripture, and you people applauding this need to start reading the word and studying it for yourselves and check what he or anybody says , this is part of the problem in Christianity. He commits the very thing's he spends the first 20 mins warning people about to try and prep they're mindset, this is not a responsible "pastor" "showing himself approved rightly dividing the word of truth " 2 Tim. 2:15 , the arrogance and pride and mocking tone are works of the flesh, not fruits of the spirit

Have you ever thought about Revelation 5:9, which says, "You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation"? Is it by chance that Jesus will end up saving people from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, or was that the plan? Did God just get lucky or did he bring about that result by his sovereign power? It's not that hard to figure out.

Have you ever thought about the verse that says, "We love Him because he first loved us"? When did he first love us? I'll tell you when: before the foundation of the world, when he chose us, unconditionally, in Christ, to be holy and blameless in his sight. Why any Christian would run away from this is beyond me.

@@livingforjesus8551we weren't even at the beginning of the world to be in him to be selected. Only 1 was: The Word. It just so happens we are offered the right to be in him, and thus partake in his benefits, and thus we weren't chosen on our own, but HE is chosen, amd in as much as we're in HIM, we are too. It fits the language of the whole chapter so much better than thinking you or I were chosen before the world, but others weren't, as if we're the special ones. No we're invited to be partakers in the chosen one, and thus becoming chosen. It says chosen in him. Not chosen (regardless of him) It doesn't say chosen TO BE in him. Well, I finally made it to the end of this video, and all I can do is shake my head and say, "Man! I'm glad I'm not an Arminian." Sadly, the lengths to which you have to go to deny what is clearly taught in scripture are on full display here. 1 Thessalonians 1: 4-5: "For we know, brothers loved by God, that He has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in Word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction." And when did this choice occur? Before the foundation of the world. (See Ephesians 1:3,4) Was this choice conditional or unconditional? Election unto salvation, which is what is being described in the passage from 1Thessalonians quoted above, is clearly unconditional. (See -- and you knew I was going to go here -- Romans 9:9-24. Also Romans 8:29-30)

"Paul says everything's working according to the plan in the scripture." Whose plan? God's? Or man's? Well, according to the teaching in this video, I would have to conclude it's man's plan. Am I wrong? (The statement quoted above occurred around the 33 minute mark of this video.)
