    For a perfect swash plate levelling you have to adjust the linkages form the servo horns to the swashplate instead of using the FC servo mid point adjustment function as shown in the clip. Adjusting the linkages avoids geometry faults ...and otherwise the previous carried out 0° or 90°servo horn adjustment would be rather useless as well.

    My plate has a sag to it. And doesn't give accurate measurements. I had to make one out of aluminum. I was using the .200 " portion. It is to thin to support the the angle gauge for prolonged periods of time. I was setting up a goblin 420. Once I used the more rigged aluminum on I was getting much more accurate measurements. Just f.y.i.

    This method doesn't take into account small blade manufacturing errors. I still prefer blade-mounted gauges as it's more important to set the 0 pitch of the blades, than 0 pitch of the blade grips alone.

    • @sokohelitools
      @sokohelitools 5 лет назад

      I see your point. This only works if you use decent blades, that's true. Our tests showed that nowadays you cannot buy "bad" blades anymore. A pair comes already balanced out-of-the box! If you have blades with errors, mounting the gauge on the blade itself won't help as the errors can be differently alongside the blade length. So your pitch changes depending on where you mount the gauge anyways...

    True, the Brain/iKon BASIC setup does not allow separation of high and low collective pitch. However, the Brain/iKon ADVANCED menu lets you alter the individual servo travel/throws, so you can alter the maximum high and low collective pitch range. Technically, if all the Soko steps are followed properly and in the correct order, the high and low collective pitch values should end up even.

    This is arguably the very best method to ensure the main shaft is perfectly vertical. This is probably the best method to calibrate the FBL unit self-level feature. However, for the purpose of leveling the swash at low, mid, and high stick position as well as the rest of the parameters (collective range, blade tracking, etc.) one may be better of purchasing the $7.99 Soko Virtual Main Shaft iPhone/Android app.

    • @sokohelitools
      @sokohelitools 7 лет назад

      As the Virtual Main Shaft feature of our Soko Heli Toolbox app is definetly the easiest and fastest way, the free-of-charge version of the app (without the Virtual Main Shaft in-app-purchase) gives you the same results.

    helloo. quick question. at this first point. does the heli need tobe power on? radio and everything. servos at 90 degre? or is everything unplug at this point? no servo at 90 degre yet? thanks alot

    • @sokohelitools
      @sokohelitools 7 лет назад

      Hey. No, no power or anything required in this step.

    • @johnahamelv
      @johnahamelv 7 лет назад

      For this part, the blade grip link is disconnected, so the blade grip is uncoupled from the the rest of the head mechanism. So no, neither the electronics nor the radio need to be powered ON for this step. About the cyclic servos at 90° question, the simple answer is no, the cyclic servos do not need to be at 90° for this step. However, the more complete answer is that the cyclic servo arms should have ideally been set to 90° at collective mid-stick prior to installation of the servos in the helicopter frame. Why set the cyclic servos arms to 90° PRIOR to installation and not AFTER installation? It is a much easier process (and perhaps more accurate) to obtain 90° with the servos on the bench compared to after installation on the heli frame.

    You didn't explain when to zero the pitch gauge!?

    • @sokohelitools
      @sokohelitools 8 лет назад

      You don't need to zero the Soko Gauge anywhere. The whole setup Soko Methodology utilizes the bubble/spirit level (angle in relation to the horizon). Thats why you always use the upper/smaller number with its symbol on the Soko Gauge. Its a true spirit/bubble level which is calibrated to the horizon by factory.

    • @pofrani
      @pofrani 8 лет назад

      Oh I see - I just got confused because on the other video, you just measured the blade grips without the links and divided by 2 to get the center point to get absolute vertical of the main shaft... I thought you then needed to zero the gauge to proceed with measuring pitch angles.

    Hallo, ich überlege mir das Kit zu kaufen, aber mir ist nicht klar wie sich das beim microbeast mit der zyklischen Einstellung verhält. Denn dort steht in der Anleitung das man im Setup Menü bei zyklisch 6 Grad einstellen soll. Ist das beim soko dann genau so?

    • @sokohelitools
      @sokohelitools 8 лет назад

      Hallo Thomas, Ja, das ist alles kein Problem! Wenn dein FBL System (zB das Microbeast) einen fixen Wert (zB 6°) verlangt stellst du einfach diesen Wert ein anstelle des "gewünschten" zyklischen Pitch.

  • @piersculley6419
    @piersculley6419 8 лет назад

    Great setup video, just a couple of questions though. You stated that a perfectly level surface is not required with this feature, as long as it looks fairly level. If the calculated value for the main shaft in virtual 3D space is greater than the acceptable value and your helicopter head is setup correctly, what do you next? Maybe show a another video on how to rectify a value which is outside the acceptable limit. Isn't this feature to eliminate all the sheets of paper under the skids? Just looks like the sheets of paper under the skids is more accurate. Just confused how this can be easier . . . . .

    • @sokohelitools
      @sokohelitools 8 лет назад

      If you are already proficient with the paper method, or even own a leveling board, you might find this "legacy" method easier, sure. And its totally fine to stick with it. The VMS method is generally faster because you don't have to deal with the paper - which usually takes time. I reckon you are talking about the "Value Check" step of the app after you've entered all 6 measurements (12m58s in the video). This step only shows how much "sense" the 6 values make you've entered. If you get a value around 0.5 there you weren't carefully enough or your heli is not stable enough. Just try to do better. If your value is closer to 1 or even higher you definitely made something wrong. Meaning aligned the wrong ball or made a "typo" when putting in the value. Just try again. In a nutshell: If you follow the guidelines and the hints in the text of this step you will get good results. Finally a mention about heli size: Its almost impossible to get 0.0 in the "Value Check" step on small helis (250, 450, 360, ...) due to the play in their mechanic. Which is totally OK!

    I am planning on purchasing your heli set up kit and reprogramming my entire fleet. I'm wondering if you could do a video on the align dfc head. Also on my nitro it uses bell cranks. Does that affect the set up process in anyway?

      Hi Grant. The setup process on a bell crank heli (i.e. Thunder Tiger) or a DFC head is exactly the same as shown on our videos (Goblin 700 or Align 550). It even works on flybared helis. Thats the beauty of the Soko Kit: One tool, all setups/sizes/brands. The PDF manual and our brand new Soko Heli Toolbox mobile app will take you through each step in detail.
