Replacing a roundabout with traffic lights will only increase congestion.Time taken to complete the project has been ridiculous, it's been eighteen months of detouring around the area and most of the time there's been no one there doing anything!

Gees I remember walking though that subway most days on the way to school. What screwed Burnley and many places was the failed 60's social experiment of social and town planning. They knocked down buildings that were capable with maintenance to last 200-300 years and replaced them with buildings that only had a usable life span of 40 years, breaking up and displacing communities. Society and it's moral decay started in the 1960's with its perfect vision of the future that very quickly turned into a Dickensian nightmare. Councils now do not want to even try and tackle the real world social and economic issues Burnley and many places face, so they undertake unnecessary civil engineering projects and say "look we are making the place better". I have a fondness for Burnley and want to cry at the decay and decline.

The only thing letting Thompson park down in my opinion is the fact that you can’t walk your dog through there so it’s always empty or just a cut through to Colne rd area

I was a busker in the mid - late 1980s and played in Burnley many, many times. Usually midway up the market ramp, on the level/landing part between the two sloping sections. Some great memories of playing there, on Wednesday's mainly, doing alternate hours with other buskers (hour on then an hour off while they worked the pitch). Good people, both the other buskers and the townsfolk. I had been used to playing regularly in Preston before I started playing in Burnley and one of the best pitches there was the subway from the huge bus station. Busy as hell with commuters and shoppers most days of the week. I arrived in Burnley one day and there was already someone playing on the market ramp and someone else waiting, so I asked ''Are there any subways in Burnley?'' (the acoustics are always good in tiled subways). I was given directions to this subway, was there for an hour and about 4 people passed through it during that hour and I came away with 10p an old lady threw in my guitar case. I never went back to that subway to play again. The market ramp though was an excellent pitch, averaged £3 - £4 an hour there on a good day, which was decent money in the mid 1980s. Most unskilled labourers weren't making that grafting in factories. Shop workers etc probably made even less. I'm an old man now. Here's me doing a song I used to do regularly back then. Why do we pay road tax if we are being stopped from using roads? What happens if you are disabled? Where do you park your car? Does the ambulance, doctor, or fire brigade, have access? Whose stupid idea was this anyway? Some tit in the council offices I bet.

Meanwhile the town is now a third world hell-hole and it is unsafe for women yo go out in the evening, but a new pedestrian zone has been set up... brilliant.

But then again! Look who's on the council.. ?🤔 Burnley unfortunately will turn into another Nelson Brierfield Oldham Rochdale and Blackburn.. just give it time.. ☹️🤬

More anti car policy. People really need to wake up and accept that the govt wants you to own nothing. If we want to stop them that is. After cars it'll be your house that's made too inconvenient or expensive to own.
