Bra Spence was the real deal. The King of Cape Groove, who helped lay the foundation for the bass in Cape Jazz. A natural and true scholar of the instrument and of music who carved his own sound via a lifelong love and curiosity for music. Man, there was always fire when he held the bass seat on a gig! If not his bass playing and amazing musicianship, he'd swoon you with his ubuntu spirit, generosity, humanity, and most humbling dignity. Bra Spence was a great African! Rest in peace, my king.

Amen Brother! I met this guy in Bremen, Germany in 2009 when he came on tour with a band. It was a joyful summer for me.I remember the gig in a Bar at Vegesack, Bremen. It was a cozy one. I was allowed to dance on stage in front of the band. I just finished my Bachelors program and stressed. You guys brought Light to my Life then. God bless you! Amen

Loved the interview, Daniel. Mr. Kennedy is 1 of the godfathers in the gospel arena & especially with regards to the African/Jazz sound which wasn't heard of before in gospel music.
