Using 1 Color Brioche to Knit a Mug Rug
This knitting tutorial from Knitwise demonstrates basic Brioche. If you have been wanting to learn brioche, this is an easy and quick pattern and you get a nice, usable mug rug/coaster when you are done.
You will need about 40 yards of worsted weight yarn and size 6 US/4mm needles. Brioche tends to be looser than regular knitting, so if you consider yourself a "loose knitter," you may want to go down a needle size. However, gauge is not important, since it does not have to fit!

Fix a Mis-Crossed Cable Knitting Tutorial
Thank you for this. How many stitches are in the body of your stocking? How did you determine 18 stitches past your marker?
The stocking is 72 stitches knit in the round and the afterthought heel is worked over half of those stitches, or 36 stitches. The place that I position the heel is with half of those 36 before the end of round, and half after the end of round. 18 sts on each side of the end of round marker.
Where can I obtain the pattern for your stocking, the one you are working on in this video? Many thanks. CND
The pattern is a www.wiseowlknits.com
Thank you for your video is very helpful! Is there a follow up on how do you do the second part with the waste yarn?
I have a video up now on picking up the stitches and removing the waste yarn.

@@knitwisetutorials Cheryl, thank you for your response and your video. It is so clear and easy to follow ! I love it!
Thank you very much , very well explained & i like that you used different colored yarn
Thanks a lot. This video has helped me a lot! But what if the stitches of the main design jump a few stitches? Tnx for your help! Dona from Belgium
I like your video. your video is so beautiful keep going ❤
You have so many fantastic ideas in your tutorials. I can't wait to try this bind off. Thanks! :)
Thank you! I need to make some more of these videos!
This is so cool. I have never made bobbles this way. I like your method. :) Thanks!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for the great tutorial! It was very clear and easy to understand. I'm looking forward to using this bind off on your Wildflower T-shirt sweater pattern. Do you mind explaining what to do after you make the last bind-off stitch, e.g. how to secure the last stitch especially when working in the round?
You are so welcome! After the last stitch, I bind off the I-cord stitches, then sew that end of the I-cord to the cast on end of the I-cord. I TRY to mimic st st when sewing the ends together and make it look as seamless as I can, but I have not really ever gotten it to look totally seamless. I may try it without binding off the I-cord sts and see how that works.
What type of fabric do you recommend?
I am so sorry for the delay. I usually use cotton fabric.
How to cast off at end of row
Thank you
I learned something new.
Great! It takes a bit longer , but it gives a really nice edge.
Perfect timing, just had to shorten a sweater and added short rows. Used this method quite invisibly. Thank yo.
Thank you
Very clearly explained. Thank you! It's just what I needed.
Thank you
Thank you! I actually found @iuliiacraft's video first and used her technique without really understanding it... But when I kept the separate colors on separate needles, it began to make a lot more sense! And your video perfectly illustrates it, so thank you for showing that. When I accidentally knit across the wrong needle, instead of transferring the stitches, I just knit across the empty needle again to rejoin it. It's basically what @iuliiacraft is doing in her video, instead of keeping the colors on separate needles. I have been doing increases and decreases of the two colors and I'm not sure it's as good as it could be... Have you done patterns that have increases and decreases with this technique, and do you have any tips?
I am glad the video was helpful. I have not done lots of Intarsia in the round. I think my Sharkey pattern is the only one so far. It does have lots of increases and decreases that are adjacent to the color changes. Working the increases and decreases at least 1 stitch away from the color change does make it a bit easier and cleaner.
Thank You so much 😀
Thanks Sara
Can you do left handed brioche
Do you mean Continental knitting, where you hold the yarn in your left had rather than your right?
@Knit Wise no, I'm a left handed person my yarn is held in my right hand left needle is the take up stitches
Lovely patterns as always!
Thank you! That is so kind of you.
Thank you so much. Words alone couldn't describe this stitch.
I am so glad the tutorial was helpful
THANK YOU! My German short rows were looking so messy, but this method is so much better for me to do😊
Love your stocking pattern! Can you link it? Thank you!!
This is very helpful, and I have knit this stocking a million times BUT! I am not sure how I did the foot! your video ends 1 minute too short, and I feel silly
Thank you so much, you explain so well. I love that you take into account that not everyone knows what you know. Hard to find a good instructions like this.
Thank you for an excellent tutorial
Fantastic tutorial, especially if your hair tie breaks .
Thank you! Thank you for making this step so easy!!
Thank you for this video. I couldn't figure how to get the elastic hair band in my hat. I knit, but I can follow your hands in the video. Thanks again.
Very helpful! Thank you!
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen on german short rows. Thank you so much
