I think that is just a question of personal choice and personality because since MTD ownes (almost) all riding mowers (troybilt, craftsman, cub cadet, etc), replacement parts (atlas, mtd, cc, tb etc) look all the same in every catalogs so it's easy to change x part to another... Type that into Amazon. I did a quick search. It’s $750 but the trans is a tuff torq. I’m trying to do some more research. While doing my research it did seem this is the Achilles heal of the entire mower but so far so good for me. If mine fails I have nothing to lose but to take it apart and see if I can repair it. Unless Cub wants to help me out but you know how that goes. If I find another trans I’ll let you know CUB CADET 918-07207A Transmission Assembly Enduro XT1 XT2 LT LX 42 46 50 Tractor

You have the XT1 LT50? Just did a little bit more research. Mind has the Tuff torq k46 supposedly. Then the smaller decks may have the TL-200 which is a weaker trans. I thought I had read a couple years ago guys were putting a slightly beefier tuff torq on theirs. I hope this info helps and sorry you are having issues. Please update us if you find a solution that’s cheaper

I have a brand new mower just like that and the quality of the cut is just terrible .. and my neighbor has the same more I have and his lawn also looks terrible. You know the mower deck design is bad.. when they make a goofy ass looking lawn mower blade like that to try to compensate for the bad deck design..
