383 installation
Just a 2.33 minute vid of the 383 in its rightful place finally installed in the 1963 Dodge Polara convertible. Also, I see new fasteners all round. That's the engine rebuilder doing that. If I had my way all fasteners would be from a used engine and simply cleaned up. I may yet do it. Especially the intake manifold bolts.

A selection of Mopar and Ford engines.
Просмотров 1116 месяцев назад
Here's some Mopar and Ford engines, brought in to NZ by the guy who owns the older Mopar cars on my other vids. He informed me he has 50 vehicles. There's 440's, 383's, a 361, and an old Hemi. Probably 331, judging by the old trans on the back. An M6 Presto-Matic. One of the Fords is a 4bbl 390, 300hp. Pretty boring video, but may be of some interest to someone.

This is a '63 Polara that I've been tasked with restoring. It came to me as a panel beaten and painted shell. I'd rebuilt auto trans, front and rear suspension and all brakes before fitting to car. Suspension painted in POR15. Car was repainted in original cream/white. NOTE: Thumbnail shows Dodge when it arrived from USA prior to stripping for rebuild.

Dodge Dart 1962

A short drive in my '62 Dodge Dart. I bought this car from California 10 years ago for 7.5k which at the time was, according to the experts, a lot of money. But trying to buy a similar condition car would difficult. It'd done 51605 miles, before being stored in a concrete-floored barn in 1968. I put some gas down the carb, and it fired up after sitting for 44 years. I then rebuilt the alternato...

Here's a weird one. I imported this from Japan in a mad moment. It's basically a 1996 Nissan Laurel, 2 litre single cam, 4 spd auto. A small factory in Japan modifies the Laurel by chopping off the front and rear body and fitting '60s English type body panels. Since sold to a young guy who's going to modify it with a 2.5 DET etc. Can't find a good thumbnail, sorry. And I've disallowed comments....

VW camper LT28. 1978.

My LT28 VW that I turned into a 2/3 berth camper. In the video I fail to show how the seat base that I lifted up is hinged, so flops over to the middle, and the seat bases and backrests lock in to make a 6' by 4'6" double bed. There's a combination of 12V, and 240V lights. There's hot water to the shower by pulling out the sink faucet and extending it into shower, on its flexible hose. I have s...

Hi. Several obstacles to that. First, this vehicle is in New Zealand. (I know not your location.) Second, it's not my car, and the owner has moved 600 miles away. But I shall ask him, although I seem to remember he was talking $120k ( NZ ) in 2020, as he loves the car. In fact, he has around 30 of these type cars. Paul.

In my humble opinion, the 1963 Mopar line up are the best looking designs out of Detroit for that year. Only the Imperial was a slight disappointment. But Plymouth, Dodge, the whole Chrysler line of 4 door H/Ts, were nothing short of stunning and looked ahead of there time. This 63 Fury, the name alone evokes, brutal force, excitement, power and speed. A consequence of a beautiful design!

Too true. Sadly, I prefer driving the '63 Fury over my low mileage '62 Dart. The asymmetric dash dials are a riot. Looks like I need a new phone! Or to stop shaking. RUclips used to modify video's to eliminate shaking, but they stopped that. Thanks for the comment.

The forward look exemplified with striking two tone. And straight in front of one rare 1961 DeSoto. With the wild one (1959 Chevrolet)off to her right

Thanks Gary. The '59 Chev drives great. I replaced every ball and bush and steering box and p/s ram, and added h/d shocks. Sadly, the black '61 DeSoto coupe is too far gone with rust. A replacement body is in the pipeline. In New Zealand zero rust is allowed, to be put on the road. Especially an imported car. As all these were.

My gramma traded her 1958 Belvedere for a 1962 Dart 440.. Ugly as the proverbial 'mud fence', but quick like lightning!

    • @moyadapne968

And now the '58 would be worth 4 times the Dart. But you're right, they moved right out. 'Light' weight, and a tight torque convertor. My 440 with a 383 would light 'em up at 30 mph.

63 Mopars were at the forefront of design, in my humble opinion. From the Plymouth to Dodge (Sadly DeSoto, now assigned to history) Then the Chryslers, New Port, Windsor and New Yorker. But would'nt be a list without the tarmac chomping Crossram J. Then of course the Imperial/ Imperial LeBaron. To me all the Mopars of 63 look 10 years ahead of their time! (Suddenly it's 1973!) A vid of your 63 Plymouth. . . . .Oh mate, you'd make our day! Thank you

Another great car! I think the styling is avant garde in exercution. One of, love or hate with many. Personally I reckon it's dramatic, with the unusual canted headlights set into that darting forward grill. Pronounced sculptureing atop front fenders leading into the front doors. Then of course over the rear wheel arches forming jetstream outlets. Yeah just bloody cool. Another interesting car from the "creator" Virgil Exner. Though not for much longer. Thanks again mate, keep up the great vids.

I've had me half a dozen '62 Darts. And 48 Mopars, from a '28 Dodge Victory six, up to a '75 US Valiant Brougham V8. It all started when I saw a movie called 'It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, at 16. I became a Mopar drivin' fool. Those fender sculptures and the rear wheel arch 'bulges' seemed to aid stability at 100 mph plus. My sister reckons the '62 Dart is the most beautiful car ever made. Maybe, but my Engel-designed '63 Plymouth Fury h/top is a fine looking car too. Shall I do a video on that?

In godzone a little Mopar Heaven. Though all rare and beautiful, the 61 DeSoto has to be a standout. Last of the Mohicans. I'm a real fan of all these cars, though lesser with the 2006 300. Real neat the 60 Polaris or Matador? That 55 DeSoto is that the Fireflite or Firedome, could'nt quite read the script . Yep and of course the 59 Impala? Though the General's 59 Flattops are a favorite of mine too. Thank you for sharing this neat little collection.

Hi. The '55 is a Fireflite CORONADO. 2 speed Powerflite, lever control. Original paint, low miles.... 33,000 approx. The '67 New Yorker is a 440 car. The '61 DeSoto is so rusted out, the owner has located another body. The white '60 Dodge is a Matador. 4 bbl 383 car. Needs complete resto. The owner has 30 '57 to '61 Mopars. Some rough, but most low mileage and super tidy. I have some more vids of other cars...I'll hunt them out. I only mentioned the 2006 300, as it has the bigger engine. The '59 Impala drives really well. HD shocks tamed the 4 coils.
