Why rip the top row? Why not instead go the other way, start at the top, so the ripped pieces are at the bottom where they're less obvious?
That isnt nickel gap, its ship lap. And it needs to also be face nailed.
Plunge cut with multi tool to the size of the box.. add box extender.. then proceed
So, so not to code. Very dangerous! See 314.20 (2017 code) Box or extender must be flush with wall surface. Sparks need to be contained within the box.
DO. NOT. DO. THIS!!!! Use an outlet box extender.
Don you advise a bead of adhesive on each board or Only the first board?
Yes, the electrical code states that the outlet box need to extend out to the surface of the added material. Not exact wording but an outlet extender needs to be added.
