Year of snake.

We have been in China for 1 month now, and we went to Nanjing (Yangtze River, Xuanwu lake), Beijing (the Forbidden City, the Great Wall of China, Yi he yuan, etc.) and Shandong (Taishan mountain, Confucius temple and museum). We happened to see a live performance/ ceremony at Confucius temple, it’s the part with people dressed in red. That was really cool. We are staying in China for a few more months, taking care of my dad who has brain cancer, so we will spend Christmas and Chinese new year here. This year the Chinese new year falls at the end of January, and there is Lantern festival too, so we may take more videos and photos. Otherwise, there may not be a lot of updates about our “homeschool” for a while, since we are just traveling for now. I did buy TONS of books in Chinese though, like 3 large baggage of books. There are books about Chinese culture, history, geography, myth, and also picture books. I’ll definitely make a video to show all of them, and also read aloud videos of some of those books.

My daughter also narrates very dramatically sometimes even trying to act it out. Which is great cuz that means she understands what I read to her or what she reads on her own.

I forgot to mention King of the Golden River, which has been a FAVORITE here. They really enjoyed Pinocchio too, and a lot of others. They are all in the book list at the end of the video. It’s been a very rewarding and enjoyable journey so far, I’m very grateful and looking forward to the rest of our year!

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been using Ambleside Online for almost 6 years now and we really enjoy it. My kids are almost always disappointed when I stop reading.

Loved seeing the different resources you use and seeing how you lay out your schedule! We use Ambleside too but I also make some changes in the books and resources to fit our family.
