    Any special reason to not go with 3x size 2 shards + 1x size 1 in the chief?

      Oh, no particular reason; in fact, I thought about doing that. I must have decided the balanced triggers mattered, or maybe the power use was too close to the line in the chief. It’s a little bit of a pain working with modified guardian guns in coriolis since they aren’t listed and you need to manually account for the increased power needs.

    just found that i get them only on that megaship....what about the rapid fire gauss; those arent worth using?

      Yeah, kind of the point of the video was showing of these (relatively) new modified weapons that actually add two more useful options to the AX arsenal. The modified gauss (sometimes called hammer-gauss because they behave similarly to imperial hammers), however, are not considered useful. They have the drawback of the plasma of having a reduced effective range so they aren't better in any way from regular gauss. Also, like all the salvation modified weapons, you have to buy them one module per recipe from either Bright Sentinel megaship, or Prospector's Deep in Mbooni. That makes sense from a gameplay perspective since gauss was already the best AX weapon by a wide margin, and the shard and plasma is what needed to be modified to become viable. The gauss needed no help. So now we have 3 viable options. So, long answer but, if you want to try something other than regular gauss, consider buying some of either the modified shard or modified plasma, and I hope this video helps you choose, since it'll cost you one weapon blueprint plus some commodities and mats per module you buy.

      They are all the long range modified shards, yes. The regular ones are absolutely nothing like these; very low projectile speed and very wide spread, short range.

    This was a great idea as the best learning is done with a group when I can ask questions. But schedules are tough to line up and people often can't spend the brain power to explain while they are in a fight. So commentary after the fact is good to explain what's happening when you have time. For everyone just entering the end-game of AX combat; Thank you!

      Yes! And makes it easy to see exactly which gun or launcher you’re synthing for. Only thing you can’t synth there is limpets, which is DUM

    Pips doesn't change shield recharge time, same time reguardless of pips as long as capacitor isn't empty. Then recharge stops of course.

      mhmm, so sys pips impact recovery time, and then once the shield is charging it will drain the capacitor so, you're right; you can't make it charge faster or slower with pips, but depending on the size of your shield and capacitor you might need to keep some number of pips there to keep it charging. This wasn't scripted so I may not have been quite that specific in the moment. Thanks.

      @@jntracksgaming doesn't affect recovery either, fixed values on the shield. Just have to keep capacitor from being empty. Great vid, picked up a lot of things I didn't knew!

    I have found that if I stay below 200m/s it almost works correctly. I zig zag toward the reference. I go right, then left, then when I go back right they are yellow. Certainly slows things down, but workable. I consistently get 50-100T / hour which is not great, but OK.

    Thanks so much for this. I've been looking all over for information on exactly what is the bug with the Pulse Wave, and how I might work around it, and this is the first video I've found that really covers that in detail. Liked and Subbed!

      Glad to help! Back when I recorded this the details were much more unknown, and there is still lots of strange miss-information floating around, with some even convinced it was fixed (?) but just yesterday/today the community managers added the info that while the team is working on it, they haven’t even identified the cause of the issue. So we may be here for a while. Maybe until after Odyssey is out and has a patch or two under it’s belt.

    thanks for looking at this. i've kind of started to suspect frontier might never fix this at all. it's really annoying. but yes the impression i get is that all you can do is kind of fly around in circles and strafe and stuff like that. i wouldn't mind so much if there were any discernible gameplay type "rationale" that i could come up with it for it. but it just seems broken and stupid.

      Hi there, Very shortly after this video was recorded the bug was marked as "confirmed" in the issue tracker, though the fix hasn't been so quick. In the months since, the community managers have confirmed that this bug is being worked on though a date for the fix isn't ready to be announced yet.

    For me it works when I'm aligned so the wide part of the ring is above and below me and not to my left or right. I noticed this because I usually turn right or left and roll like 90 degrees then thrust in the opposite direction to slowdown the big chungus and just opted to drive 90 degrees turned full time but I hope this helps those that are getting back into Voipal mining.

    Since because of this bug it only "highlights the rocks behind you", so is it possible to get around this bug by flying backwards while scanning?

      Well, some are saying it only highlights behind you, but as I said in the video (and, I think, demonstrated) it seems to me more like a delay issue. I don't think it matters if you face the rocks or not, as long as you're in range of them long enough to outlast the delay, then they show up. So flying backwards tends to work, since you are looking at rocks you've been nearer, for longer.

    This has been a bug since early September....most of the core miners I know have stopped playing until this gets fixed.....We don't understand why it's taking so long to fix.

      Aye, this video was recorded back a couple days after the bug’s discovery. I had it set as unlisted for a while and just set public. See the description for the bug report which has been marked as confirmed by fDev for a few weeks. Still waiting for any fix.
