I share yoga here because for a decade +, social anxiety and being broke stopped me from going to a yoga studio. RUclips & DVDs helped me build and sustain a practice. Even after finding a studio and teacher I loved, completing a training and being certified to teach, I still do yoga mostly at home. I'm happy to help others do yoga at home, too!
Yoga helps settle my mind into my body so I can connect with the still, steady Steph underneath and beyond the tiny fragment identified by that name. It has helped me through circumstances I did not want to go through and helps me create some sort of balance in a very unbalanced world.
It's a practice that has the potential to impact us all, individually and collectively, for the better. I'm glad you're here.

30 min Lying Yoga to Slow Down, Relax & Reduce Stress
Tired? Stressed? This is for you. A half hour of slow, gentle movement done entirely lying on your back. A little somatic movement, a little stretching and twisting, and a couple minutes resting in savasana. Hopefully by the end you feel more calm and relaxed.

This is my favorite rule!
Being aware of where you move your arms from is helpful eg. focus on moving shoulder (not lower arm) to max comfortable position rather than leading and pulling up with lower arm hands as we tend to. Good job.
Really harmful if you have cervical spine arthritis. Don't force your arms back so far, go as far as you're able. Increase if pain doesn't result. Go only to the point where you don't generate pain.
I appreciate your concern and well intentioned advice. Thanks for sharing. It's a good reminder to stay mindful. Yoga is many things including but not limited to a contemplative practice that helps build self awareness. As a yoga instructor, giving medical advice is outside my scope of practice. I've been diagnosed with cervical spine arthritis and I do this movement as it works for me. Others should follow the advice of their physician or healthcare provider as every case is specific to the individual. This video is a brief excerpt from a live class in which, as always, I encourage participants to adapt and do movements to the extent that works for them, not to force anything, and to stay mindful of what they're feeling so they can choose kindly and wisely how to move their own bodies. <3

@@annaremen6076 yeah, I tend to forget about virasana, but when I remember it’s so helpful for my tight quads. In the past I’ve hesitated to bring it into class because it can really suck for a lot of knees, but maybe with the option of sitting up on cushions or blocks… hm. 🤔
