3.6 is 14.4% of 25. That is absolutely a significant difference.
While it's irrelevant for this test since the difference is so big, having more damage means the enemies die faster which in turn means they deal less damage overall, which is not something accounted for here im pretty sure
Thx for watching you're right, but this applies also to my example. After the first carrier got killed, the toss army's damage output has a 50% lower damage output
This is good in this exact scenario, but I'd say the real answer is "it depends" & the depends has so many factors. If Protoss has Voids nearby this can change, HTs with Storm this can change, cannons this can change, etc. For example lets say Protoss has a bunch of Archons underneath the Carriers, & you have enough BLs or enough Ultras to deal with them, but you know if you lose the air battle all your Broods/Ultras may die anyways. You maybe want to skirt around the Archons & attack-click specific Carriers if the Carriers are slightly out of position (or have a Viper to abduct them out of position) & what's most important here is having enough Corruptors to 'x-volley' a Carrier, whether it takes all your Corruptors 2 volleys or 3 or 4, if the attack upgrade lowers that number by 1 that is huge, that means the Corruptors are in range of Archons for less time (or storm, etc), & take less damage by killing the Carrier sooner, a Carrier dying sooner also means it's DPS is gone. As a side note if going BLs the +1 air attack also makes the BLs do more damage. I'd say vs pure air and/or if a player is say Bronze 3 ~ Diamond 2 & is doing something fairly basic like a-move Corruptors & a-move Ultras vs any ground underneath then Carapace is the way to go. However if targeting specific Carriers, especially if abducting them then air attack can be better. Armor doesn't help much vs Archons, & doesn't help at all vs spell damage (Storms). Also if they have some tempests in there, Tempests similar to Corruptors are high damage per shot, but slow shots so Carapace doesn't help much where-as just killing the Tempests sooner can be better.
Yes of course, it depends on many factors like unit composition, build order, etc. My scenario is like a lab experiment, it helps to understand what is going on but the real world is still more complex 😊

YESSSSS!! Love these videos! You have a TON of these comparison upgrade videos you need to do I'm sorry to say. I never have known as a Diamond player which upgrades to get or which are more important, I literally just guess, but would LOVE to know definitively. Particularly I'm Protoss if that's any inkling as to which I prefer for now

Why 2/2/2 stalker? How does this behave vs 0/0/0 stalker and other permutations?
2/2/2 because ling vs stalker is more of an early / mid game fight. Other permutations i think would be maybe too much input for 1 video because there´s a lot, but i'll try doing it in a future video
Iirc the meta is that Protoss typically gets attack and/or armor upgrades, but rarely shields.
Interesting, didnt know about that, i play zerg. U think i should better create the toss units without shields?

@@Veeq7 which is v strange, as shields benefit also buildings right? And also, shields are first line of defense for units, armor is only counted when shields are gone. And shields can regenerate. So I would say priority for toss should be shields before armor, which for some reason in not the case in pro plays

It is only 42% more damage if it is getting focused. It is much more damage if it is not getting focused The main reason armor is better in this scenario is because the BC’s damage mechanic is high fire rate but low damage. Making the armor effective. However if the BC was like the BC of old, with high damage and low fire rate, the upgrades would be swapped. I like your analysis, but I do think that you can apply what I said more easily and to more scenarios quickly with out needing math. Doing to math is great, but you need an intuition when playing games because the scenarios change rapidly from game to game. That is my 2 cents. Great video

This is also the case vs all Protoss air except Tempests. Even vs Voidrays, it is better to go for armor over attack on the corruptors.

Against units that shoot very fast with little damage, armor is always better.
Thats a good general rule, yet we still have to decide which attacks are weak enough for this rule to hold. E.G. a queens AA attack is 9

It’s basically the same thing. Carriers and battlecruiser both do 5 damage vs air. In a straight fight, armor is better. In a mixed army, attack is better because corrupters have a low attack priority. The battlecruiser a might instead attack hydras, and if that’s the case you want the corrupters to kill them as fast as possible. Also Yamato cannons don’t care about armor, so if they are doing hit and run, attack has a better chance at killing them before warping away. Still, if late game toss is going mass carrier, always go armor first.
Yes carriers have very similar stats. They die quicker with their lower armor and health though but the outcome should be similar
@@matthewjohnson3656 Corruptors don't have low priority. They have the same priority as any other unit that they can attack, so it just depends on distances. If you fly the corruptors closer than the Hydras, the corruptors will draw fire first from air units that can hit both ground and air.
You are right, the AI doesnt prioritize hydras. However i think what he meant is when your oppenent is microing, hes better off focusing your hydras since hydras are high damage low health units

@@dshlango Thanks. I never subscribe after 1 video and to be honest I don't agree with how you rang "burrow" especially with comparison to Oversight. Oversight can be used to improve vision sigh on map in places where you don't have creep and as you said to trick with nydus. But it is all and to place nydus i don't even need Overseer because i can use any unit like cheaper overlord. Burrow i can use to: - block expansions; - set ambushes (not only with bane-lings but with every ground units); - increase vision in tight paths even if not to much it can help; - save drones against runs on mineral lines if enemy don't bring detection; - save units if needed, us in previous point; - on roaches i can use it to heal them in the middle of fight; - and best is it have intimidation factor if enemy know that burrow is in play because he must have detection on field or he will never know if your army is not just under his feet. So we have S tier skill with function and C tier skill with so much of it.
I used your segue approach in my latest vid, checkit out if u want ;) as for burrow, i know it has lots of utility, but i cant think of a game that i won because of burrow, while i won several games with overseer + nydus. But depends on individual play style of course

@@dshlango A development in pro play lately is spamming Overseers and changelings to flood the screen with units to prevent your important stuff (Lurkers) from being rapid-fire sniped by Ghosts

Emp is way easier to use then snipe. You proabably dont see how OP the ghost is as zerg since it counters spell casters that arnt used at those levels. Vs toss it wipes shields and energy and its an instant aoe so its very easy to spam. Its very strong vs toss at all levels. It also has good damage and health so its even a good unit in fights. Vs toss Its basically a better high templar with extra abilitys and cloak.
Yes, at my level spellcasters anti antispellcasters dont really matter. But i know that many higher level players see the ghost as completely OP. If u liked the video pls consider subscribing ☺thx 👍

Um Dark Archon is an unmatched unit in this game. It's S tier for sure. Mind control an SCV or Drone and you now have another 200 available supply with an entirely different race. No other race can even come close to this power

The gap between adrenal glands and melee damage upgrades seems strange to me. (A tier to C tier). The same logic applies (zerglings won't necessarily get close to the enemy army, but +1 melee attack lets you base trade and kill workers). I know that attack speed matters more than +1, but not that much more, and +1 is cheaper and works on other units.
That is a valid point. Adrenal inceases zergling DPS by 43% for 200/200 while +2 melee increases it by 40% for 250/250 plus also improves other melee units
@@dshlango I think +2 attack will usually end up better than that in practice cause of armor--most buildings have at least 1 armor, which makes +2 attack for zerglings +50% damage instead of +40%. In extreme cases, some buildings have 3 armor (like if Terran gets the building armor upgrade, or if ground armor gets upgraded on SCVs/probes) in which case +2 attack is +100%.

I thing to Add on Disruptor. The (+shield) damage was not changed. So in PVP disruptor got a straight AOE buff. This will make PVP even more swingy as you can pop like 6 stalkers in a shot instead of 4 now.

Overlord speed is way too slept on. It is your main scouting tool along with ling speed.

My thoughts on the Mothership nerf is that they wanted to buff Tempest but were too scared, which is why they nerfed it's range. Mothership is a part of that because it's always made with tempest armies, so you make it so that you can get more incremental value when you abduct it and it lowers total army supply a little bit. At least now the Mothership does a rave lightshow before it immediately dies. Protoss is not allowed a change unless it's accompanied by a nerf.
Yeah its pitiful that the ultimate protoss unit's main purpose is to get abducted and die in 5 sec. now even more painful with 400/400 cost
No mention of matchups? Usually these tier lists take each matchup into account and compare how much some upgrades are needed in different scenarios. List turned out good, good explanation on the +1 upgrades. Things like the Tunneling Claws tho, they absolutely deserve D tier, but the reason for that is because Detectors are not rare to have at all. It's just super rare for roach burrow micro to actually get anything done. Things I would disagree with are Bane speed, Roach Speed, Overlord Speed in C. I mean u'r gonna get Ovy speed every game, it's just sensible, they're great for scouting, they can outrun Vikings and Voidrays. Ovy and Overseers are are just used to scout all game. And if u'r gonna use banes or roaches u'r definitely gonna get their speed to get better value out of them. Hydra upgrades being so valued... Hydras are really not that great. I think you forgot Neural Parasite and Burrow.
