Standing here in this empty field during a foggy morning, I am struck by the paradoxical "timelessness of time". I recall fondly the many experiences in this field: getting the tractor stuck in a wet and muddy rut; the effervescent lightning storms; that time that one of the cows escaped during the night; the blizzards across the frozen expanse; watching my elderly Father fix the gate; or wondering what it all means now? Does my Father remember me from "the other side"? Is there such a place at all? If so, what occurs in such a realm? Is he happy? Is Mother with him there or is she somewhere else? Suddenly, I snap back to this reality in this sublime moment of contemplation and wonder if I should have left more of the forest intact when I expanded the fields? And, does my Father know how much I miss him?
