Hi! Selecting the button Program Manager, go inside a folder and click on New: you have the possibility to select the Shopmill option with also Program Guide G code. You need to be in a "sub-folder" and not in the main folder. Let us know if this is helpful!

Hi! The correct format is .mpf for main programs and .spf for subprograms

It's just to avoid full slotting. You can apparently get around 9 times more tool life with trochoidal, and still really push the feed rate much further. This is just an example on how it moves, but if you want it to go fast you could go much higher feed rate and depth of cut. Trochoidal combined with cutting with the whole flute lenght is highly recommended (y)

@@haavard1989 Nah too slow. And too code intensive, unless you’re using really expensive endmills, just slot it. We’ve got better things to do than wait 20 mins for a job that can be done in 5 (or less)...

@@madaxe79 we do use expensive endmills, and it all depends on what you're going to do. If i'm going to mill that fast by full slotting, I will break the endmill. Programming is fast and simple

@@haavard1989 if you’re standing at the machine with a piece of plate that needs a slot in it, finished to a depth and width tolerance, I guarantee you, I can finish that part before you’ve even made the cam toolpath... and I can do if with a generic $20 endmill to tolerance. you just run a back and forth slot up the middle, then come back and finish each side to full depth. You’re just wasting time and wearing our your machine prematurely.

ST = Sister Tool (if you have more than one tool of - as an example "Tool 230500" in the tool list, the first tool that is loaded gets called "ST 1" and the second one "ST 2" and so on) It's more or less an "identification number". D = Cutting Edge Number (the "Cutting Edge" can have different orientations or the "Tool Type" can have different classifications (working from memory here - Siemens 840D SL) on what type of tool it is (End mill have "Type 120", Facing tool have "Type 140" and so on) Might have been some miss-match in that case (quite hard to tell when I'm not able to see what the PLC-alarm itself said) On a side-note with the D-number, Capto-turning tools (as an example) can be setup in a way that you have different orientations on its own D-number (Cutting Edge 3 - "Facing Left", Cutting Edge 4 - "Facing Right" and so on), that way the tool can work in several different Tool Carriers without having to have separate tools for however the cutting tool need to be facing the workpiece.

It depends, which NC is used on KERN Micro machine? If it is Heidenhain then it doesn't work on Haas, the cycles are not compatible

In this lesson the teacher explained only the block form function and the figures available. The cycle def is tackled in a later lesson, and used throughout the rest of the course. Regarding the manual programming, I think you mean programming in the traditional way, so without using the CAM, am I correct?
