Yes, the point you made about seeking our true purpose in life, which is by no means just acquiring material possessions, is spot on. “A man’s life”, said Jesus Christ, “consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” (Luke 12:15). I sometimes see Christians praying to God and focusing so hard on trying to attain many worldly glories like fancy cars and great houses and I ask myself - why did we become Christians at all? Is it not so that we can learn how to be content, with or without them (Philippians 4:11-12)?

Amen. It gives us “power” and fake peace when those things are only found in God. He’s our strength. It’s the same thing with empathy. We can sympathize with people, but to empathize is to be hopeless and in doing so we don’t point people to Christ. God bless

So, I'm Pagan now and have been for a few years officially. I think I knew I was Pagan long before then but I didn't have the words. I was baptized by my dad as a baby in oir Presbyterian church. I grew up with just my mom, who really tried to help me learn but there was no children's program at our church. I ended up getting my BA at Concordia University in Irvine California for three reasons. 1- I got a job as a character at Disneyland 2- that school is geared towards teachers and 3- By that time I'd never read the bible and I wanted to learn more. I did both things. Nothing really felt like it fit yet though for me. Which was ok because I did learn so much! I got married and had my almost now 24 year old. As I've gotten older and have listened to so many people and learned so many things I knew how I felt, but I couldn't find my "fit" you know? I met someone about 6 years ago who told me there was actually a religion or belief system of sorts that fit how I have felt my whole life I expect. I truly believe we are all put on this earth to take care of each other. That means living beings and the planet. Like the saying ashes to ashes and dust to dust (130am paraphrasing lol) we come from the earth and our bodies return to the earth. After getting my teaching degree i decided to go into social services. That's what I did for over 20 years. I loved it! I still absolutely love doing everything I can to be that loving and patient and kind person I was put here to be to as many people as I can. My long, but certainly not complete story for you here is to show that although we believe differently in ways, we also believe similarly in ways as well. Thank you for reading this! If people spend time reading the Bible, especially the New Testament, that will help them know Jesus so they can put their faith in Him and overcome their depression, alcoholism, drugs, etc...Jesus is real and He will come into your life and help if you only ask Him to.

The faith of a mustard seed can move mountains. Those mountains are our real life problem's. That never seems to go away. But we learn to deal with this thing we call living like Jesus as much as possible as you are in your life and know that this to can and will change with better choices and decisions and not be like those that have hurt us but try & be better for what you know is & bad for you. But just be grateful for what you do have no matter the situation. Peace man & love even if it's just listening to someone who may be going through something we all are & have in some way or another. Give kind words of encouragement. 🙏🙏🙏

When you sit down to eat, also read a chapter… Most days you can give 10 minutes to read a chapter on your lunch. This first will take discipline, but it’ll quickly turn into devotion and crave his word every day.

I brought up the fact that God saved me and without him, I wouldn’t be okay today. And they just wanted to say ‘there’s literal children being blown up in buses.’ Like dude , it gets so exhausting hearing that when I’ve literally experienced God and without him, I’d still be in a puddle of misery. May I ask how you would respond to the statement above? Bc I explained how a bad situation can lead to great things, with examples, but they didn’t care to understand what I meant. They just said I was trying to look for positives without facts

It’s a lot of ways you could respond but it’s tricky honestly, but at the end of the day God is all knowing, if he allowed something like that too take place maybe it was something that was supposed to happen, yea it’s unfortunate that kids had to lose their lives genuinely , but he had a plan behind it, it’s unfortunate to think that they might’ve had to suffer but just think about all of the peace and glory they’ll find after that, maybe he was saving them from something that was gonna take place that wasn’t good, but now that they’re with him that won’t have to worry about that, truth is we don’t kno what his plan is and we can’t comprehend a lot of the things that take place the way they do, but if it was Gods will then it was meant to be, regardless of what happens God is the reason why you’re living, he has the final say at the end of it all, so if someone passed from something like a bus blowing up then you also have to wonder how others survived similar things

@@TimmyPrays THANK YOU! That’s exactly the gist of what I was trying to get them to understand, but they just didn’t want to hear it. I just wanted to see if I was missing something, or if I could have said it better. But no, that’s pretty much what I was explaining. Even with real life examples of this bad thing happened to me, but because of that, now this thing came from it. I typed it vague here, but used detail in the actual conversation. Thank you for validating my understanding and faith in those situations, not that I should rely on our understanding but, it’s helpful to feel I’m on the right track. And I’m so glad you’re doing well!! I’m actually doing wonderful! I prayed for a job that was able to fit in what I needed, and after 5 days of praying for an opportunity I was sent a phone number by an old co worker and now I’m running the old gas station I worked at last year before it closed to be sold, with a lovely new owner! Going on 2 weeks now! GOD is GREAT!! 🤍🙌
