The state of Georgia also adds a $2 lemon law fee on the purchase of a new car. I had to look that up when I saw it. You should mention that a state may have additional fees.

What title clerks? Dealers simply outsource the registration and title work to 3rd party companies for something like $50 per vehicle.

Last year when I bought my car my doc fee was about $390 here in AZ

Few things get me riled up in the car buying process as the “doc fee.” One dealer once told me it’s to “pay the girls in the back.” Not kidding. As you said, everything - EVERYTHING - the “doc fee” covers is part of the regular cost of doing business. Just give me a real price instead of a fake price plus a “doc fee.” Enough with the games. If you can’t actually sell the car for the quoted price without adding a doc fee, that’s fine. I respect that. But don’t try to hide hundreds of dollars in profit under the guise of a “fee” while claiming you’re selling the car at an artificially low price. I’ve successfully gotten prices adjusted lower when I’ve called BS on the doc fee, but of course, the doc fee itself had to stay on the paperwork. I’m not sure if this is true, but maybe you can shed some light on it - I’ve heard that dealers partly instilled doc fees because sales rep pay is calculated on the price of the car, and since the doc fee isn’t technically part of the price of the car, it doesn’t have to be factored into the commission. Basically, it was a way for dealers to screw their own employees in addition to the customers. Again - not sure if this is true, but it wouldn’t surprise me. “Heads I win, tales you lose” is basically the motto of every dealer. And yes - when it comes to doc fees (among other things), Florida is the absolute worst.

In pennsylvania, the doc fee is negotiable, but the max is 449.

Some mislead say "mandated by state" but in some states it is simply a charge no one, or charge everyone law. Can't discriminate and charge just some. They could choose not to charge anyone. If so, just back it out of car price or onto trade value to get rid of it on the bottom line.

Most dealers in Florida have a 1299 doc fee. NOT NEGOTIABLE. So if they want my business they will have to drop 1299 off the vehicle I want. Simple as that or I walk

Which my dealership doesn’t know yet. I can’t wait to see the look on the F&I manger face when I pull that out of my hat. Where I live the Doc fee is 150. So I’m not even going to worry about that, but I will hold it over their head, just in case

In Texas you have a right to refuse to pay doc fee at the dealer but you have to mention it and pay attention.

Anyone going to a Dealer for any purchase is already lost. Buy at Auctions.

Years back I bought a truck, about a 100 miles from my town, I called and I was approved by my navy army credit union. So a call , so they can have the paperwork ready. It was with another company, way more That a I wanted to pay I got upset, they fixed Then I got better deal than my bank pS yo have to fought for your money

Just tell them how much you want to pay a month and for how long. They can work numbers how ever they want. Math is simple. If you don’t budge and have no issue walking away it’s impossible to get had. I put $15,000 down and said I want under $400/mo payments on a 60/mo loan. They were incapacitated. They said what about…. Well does that equal less than $400/mo on a 60mo loan? No? Okay so try again Came back after mile “talks to the manager” Ok we can do $389/mo . Done sold. Easy.

Interesting video, very thorough. I believe if you can't afford the taxes on it do not bother. With insurance, interest, and fees dealership what to charge, it is always a good idea to have other options. In the USA one needs a car as long its reliable. Cars are very overpriced not worth getting into debt unless your livelihood relies on it.

The most important thing I’ve learned after spending countless hours at a dealer with them trying every trick in the book they have to rip me off is never give them your license or keys. You’ll be held hostage until you’re worn down to the point you’ll sign anything they put in front of you. The last time that happened to me I told the sales person either give me back my stuff or I’m calling 911. Amazing how my stuff reappeared.

7:56 one Mazda dealer told me that gap was already built in the leasing deals and in the out the door price they were giving me, I got a better deal at another Mazda but how do I know if the gap is a think for all Mazda leases or just by the dealer. I need to drive 1 hour to get this new deal cause the car has been sitting there for 111 days. A lot of their cars have. Is just one of those dealers that is not moving inventory like others
