And if not, should you at least have insurance to cover medical for you and the other party if an accident is your fault? My wife says we need to keep our full coverage collision insurance in case we our car hets ruined. Buty car is only worth around 3k, and my deductible for collision is $1,500. My 95 Dakota has been into a car accident, I'm not that fault and asked if there's a way for the other driver to pay up. He replied no then I called to get a statement from the officer. Their adjuster claim my truck a total loss, which is ridiculous. The collision damage is my passenger door, they offer me $7k for my vehicle but i decided to keep me and they have me $6k to repair since its a rebuildable on the paper. Im saving it and i have called the Department of Highway Safety & Motors and they agreed that the option have me repairing my vehicle works... i sent them my vehicle title to receive my $6k to repair my vehicle, was that the right move?

I was under the impression that the insurance company would send the draft to me or the lienholder, they would endorse it and send it to me to endorse then the repair shop would receive the payment. The responsible parties insurance company paid the body shop directly. The financed amount on the vehicle is approximately $5k, the repair estimate came to a little over $6k. I was told two different responses. Because it wasn’t totaled, I would still have to pay the lien off. I was under the impression that the loan would be paid in full. The lien holder is telling me that I still have to pay the loan. Is this accurate?

It requires a premium vs value decision. I insure a 20 year old diesel pickup because their values remain high and my premium low. I have a newer Camry sedan that I don’t cover because any hit makes it a total loss and it’s not worth much and I would be lucky to get $2,500 for it. The one coverage that you should never drop is uninsured/under insured motorist.

Whats the best to go about fixing an older fence that will probably be falling in a few years? I've only been in this home for 2yrs, but the fence is much older. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Its a bunch of idiots out here that makes the laws for example. When a person dies( just like your car has basically died since it was totaled during an accident.), the insurance company pays whoever the beneficiary on the life insurance policy is. They don't ask for the dead body back it gets buried into the ground. So why if the insured car is totaled or irreparable does the insurance company want the car back and send the lien holder the insurance money? It makes no sense at all. If a person has a lien on the car that means there is an original contractual agreement stating that person has so many years to pay off the car. If it has only been 2 years and your contract is a 5 year lease you should still have 3 more years to pay your loan of. It is not the business of the insurance company to change that contract by paying your loan off early just because you totalled the car. You should still be responsible for that loan but the insurance money should go to you so that you can be made whole and get another vehicle. These are laws need to be changed by the American people lets work together so that we don't have to suffer such financial devastating losses

Hey bro I just got hit and my car is still in a ongoing claim that will most likely end in it being totalled. I will not be liable for it and I also know someone who really wants to trade because he wants a project and my car is a lil modded. My truck was shot and the police had to do further damage to get the bullet out. No fault of my own. Full coverage, but getting hit with the deductible is bullshit. Guess I have to sue the responsible party when the investigation determines whose gun it was.

If you have a decent vehicle, then keep full coverage. If you bought a POS (which is most of them), then no.

Gap is fighting with me about a condition adjustment. My car was in great condition when totaled by another driver. My state mandates conditions adjustments for the car insurance carrier. The other guys insurance said it should not be held against me by GAP. Well, it is and I’m on the hook for it. I’m fighting but right now, I’m on the hook for over $2,500. I don’t see the point in keeping full coverage? You have people hit your car, and if you have to many claims out you cannot fix, or restore the car. They don’t pay anyway, if you have to many claims. It’s like throwing away money, to the insurance companies, when you could just save on your own.

Zero deductable, tree falls on suv 5 months ago, not a preferred garage, however horrible work.....and wondering if even safe because they had to cut top of vehicle off and hard time aligning it. Yeah, get this I entered into a contract for my first ever vehicle. On my birthday while going out with my kids get T boned out of nowhere causing over 35k in damages when I only owed 31k on the vehicle. Other driver was deemed liable, his low tier insurance sent a check for 5k for repairs. Threw it in the trash and paid my deductible to my insurance, rate literally doubled. Still had paper tags on the truck, I had to go 7 months without my vehicle while being repaired. This has been goin on 2 years now. My deductible hasn't been returned they are claiming the other drivers insurance isn't responding to mine, and they have to double my rate until they do. I also have to wait to get my deductible back until then. I'm literally killing myself at work to keep my kids fed and housed atm, skipping lunch for OT. Happy f--ing birthday 2022
