Behold, the true test of patience and difficulty that Doom 64 has to offer, Hectic, a Super Secret Map only accessible through a secret exit in Map 01 Staging Area, it is also the level that rewards you with the "features" menu. Not much to say about this map, it's the second after all, the thing about this is the crusher spam, yes, even in the blue key puzzle, the switches surrounded by monitors have a mini crusher in them if you activate them. A very quick and easy level, also the first one in which the Cacodemon appears in this game, as well as the SUPER SHOTGUN! I just love the scripted cinematics where levels change shape and whatnot, it is really Doom 64's engine at its best. Another compact and short level, but packed with plenty of hitscanners, Arachnotrons, lost souls, and imps everywhere, oh right, and Barons, because why not? Only one key, and one secret, so it's pretty easy to get 100% everything here. Yes, I did save the BFG for last cause I didn't want the level to look like a cakewalk. Not much to say about this level, the atmosphere is not that spooky compared to other levels, but it's fun nonetheless, despite being short. Fun fact, you'll often hear gib noises when getting near "bridges", that's because those bridges aren't really as the game wants you to think, it's just a platform that rises when you're below it, and "lowers" when you go up so you can cross, hence the ene...

A rather short and simple level but packed with plenty of enemies, also this is the first level in the campaign where you finally get the BFG 9000! Not much to say about this map, just a horde of Imps, Nightmare Imps that blend perfectly in those blue hallways, lots of Cacodemons, and lots of Hitscanners. Oh by the way, at the last Yellow key door in the end, the edges of the room that lower will not rise again so... yeah, if you don't stay in the middle, you have to start over. First level that grants entrance to the first Demon Artifact secret level, Outpost Omega. The correct combination of switches goes as follows, from left to right: 3, 1, 2, 4. I have no idea why the original developers thought it was a good idea to add an annoying strobe light effect upon grabbing that supercharge but whatever... Final Level of the Main Campaign, the amount of ammo here is actually enough if you take advantage of Demons hurting each other. Infighting is disabled here, meaning that they won't target other demons, despite damaging each other. No BFG, Plasma Gun, or Unmaker was used against Mother Demon, just Rocket Launcher. Ammo management here is crucial, since there's no backpack and it's full of bulky enemies, demon infighting is imperative. Very judicious use of the chainsaw. Saves alot of ammo
So what just happened here? I'll try to explain as quick as possible: Doom 64's engine can only run one script at a time. Despite this version of Doom being done by Nightdive Studios, they decided to avoid modifying as much as possible from the original engine, and carried away this gem. When one script is running, anything else you do in a level that also involves a script, either cannot be done, or the script simply doesn't execute until the other one ends, which brings us to the Supercharge, since almost every trap in this level is a script, by grabbing the Supercharge in a very precise way and not falling on the little pit, you can grab the Red and Blue skull keys without activating their respective traps (scripts), once the Supercharge crusher stops, the other scripts kick in all at once, and the doors in the other rooms close, the enemies spawn, and of course you cannot open the doors because you have to beat the demons inside for them to open. One important thing to note here is that the Yellow Skull Key room is the only one not affected by the Supercharge glitch, it's not bound to a queue in the game's engine. Also, the green armor is another independent trap and the crusher above it will still do it's thing. Something I forgot to include here as a bonus footage is what happens when you grab the blue armor while the Supercharge script is running, well, you can grab it and still move, however, once the Supercharge script ends, you'll be immediately teleported to the mega armor spot, but won't be telefragged, instead you'll get stuck in a third person view in some sort invisible wall preventing you from leaving, softlocking the level.

Few things to note here: - Everything in this level is a trap, except for the quick exit in case you don't want to do the level. The mega armor activates a script that makes the player get stuck and proceeds to telefrag you in place (viewed in third person lol). Picking the Supercharge makes the floor below it to lower, preventing you from leaving, as you impotently see a crusher slowly approaching you. The green armor is also a trap, but only if you access it from any angle that is not the one closest to the wall (east side). - I decided to start without the green armor in the Arachnotron Room since you'll get a berserk anyways in the Blue Key Room, and it is really necessary to keep as much armor as possible to tank the hits from the Hell Knights, as well as the darts in the Yellow Key Room if you're not careful. - You may be wondering: "Why did you corner yourself against the door at 0:42"? Good question, thing is that, for some reason, when you get there, most of the time, if not always, you get stuck against the door and cannot go back to the bridge, also it's the safest spot to use the Rocket Launcher from if you have enough Health and Armor to tank the hits - The Yellow Key room can be done a lot faster if you have full Health and Armor, but here you have to move very carefully when moving from platform to platform, each platform has a linedef that, when crossed, activates the darts, the most optimal way to approach this room is by using the rising platforms as shields, which is why I took my time until they were at the positions I needed before crossing. - The threadmill-looking like square at the center of the level inflicts damage when standing on it, which is why I dodged it, pretty much a last resort from the level to ruin your attempt if you ever beat the three rooms with very little health.

Quick note: You may have noticed that my K count was 98%, well that's because I messed up at 0:53 standing exactly at the spot where an imp was supposed to spawn, oops.
Ah yeah forgot to mention, interacting with the spooky face at 7:53 is what lowers the BFG platform.
hard level
I wouldn't necessarily describe it as hard, it's more of a very long level, and lots of tanky enemies, hence why I tried to push infighting as much as possible, but yeah in Pistol Start it can prove to be difficult.
It's peak
Few things to note here: You may have noticed that I purposely stood behind that Pain Elemental's field of view at 6:48, this is because this nasty room has a timer, and it ends when the Hell Knights spawn, in the meantime, if you kill that Pain Elemental, another will appear and it will continue for as many as can appear before timer is out, it can be even 4 or 5 if you kill them with, say, level 2 Unmaker. Also, did you hear that opening sound at the 19:14 minute mark? Well that's because the stairs have an action line (or linedef) that open a portal to the secret exit, and yes, the door closes just like any other, but you can trigger the door to open as many times as you need.
Strobe light warning at 8:50!
Notice how I ran through both windows at 4:14 and 4:19? Well, by running through both of those, you get to unlock both a non-secret Plasma Gun near the health bonuses 4:23, and the second reward is two boxes of bullets in the hallway leading to the spiral stairs at 5:55 Also notice how the Marine was doing the "Umph" sound (aka the Use button) and game prompting yellow key? Well, this level has an unique way of using a key, by crossing an action like (or linedef) it triggers the use of the key automatically, instead of haivng you do it manually.
