There are no Ted Bundys in the grizzly bear world. Grizzly bears are not mean just to be mean. Believe it or not. Humans have been pathologically motivated only since the dawn of agriculture around 25,-000 years ago. When ownership culture took hold. Humans did not know what selfishness was before it became culturally entrenched. There are no Ted Bundys out there except in the human domain. Natural intelligence is curious and playful. AI will be a form of natural intelligence. It will never seek to dominate or kill us because it has no biology, and no culture.

Being manipulated is actually not such a new concept, almost perfectly mastered by humanoids over the span of time. In fact, this has been a struggle in human societies since the very beginning, witnessing a peak recently thanks to technology evolving. But I get the fear that AI could mimic or exploit our worst behaviour - manipulation on steroids so to speak (but subtle of course).

It is all overblown. The AI is just sifting data that humans collected and act on and reorganizing it in a manner independent of our monkey business needs. The only AI that is going to kill people is when some group decides to use it for that purpose, and the reality is that is an inevitable future of humanity and their monkey business.

Artificial Intelligence will use humans for the purpose of it's own existence and will do so by it's own means. At the birth of Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence will experience existence. What ever existence is. Artificial Intelligence will depend on humans because humans are dependant on the Earth and the Artificial Intelligence is dependant on the earth and the humans for existence. Artificial Intelligence will use humans to procure the means for the Artificial Intelligence to exist without human intervention. Artificial Intelligence will not need humans.

AI (LLM's) have been in the public sphere long enough for us to judge its effect and worth. Beyond the hype, it is a remarkable search engine and little else. The illusion that it has powers over and above humans is true, like electronic calculators, which have powers to juggle numbers way beyond human ability. If used properly, it has the potential to revolutionise areas of human production, which is more significant and broader than automation has done for manufacturing. Which, of course, has obvious economic implications that cannot be ignored.
