Frozen Shoulder | Causes and Treatment

What exactly is frozen shoulder? How do I know what I'm looking at is frozen shoulder? In this video we look at causes and treatment for frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis). As therapists, I think we need to do better for our frozen shoulder patients! Clinicians can often disregard treatment as being effective for frozen shoulder because it does need to play itself out over a set period of ti...

Hi @1:25 you mention SA as an antagonist of pec minor? Both do scapular protraction and depression, when origin fixed? So agonists no? Or am I wrong?
Hi Christoph! I mean it is an antagonist through upward rotation and its ability to fix the medial border of the scapula to the ribcage (pec minor has more or less the same actions on the scapula apart from these). So, quite often what happens is pec minor becomes dominant, SA becomes inhibited and this is allowed to happen because of a lot of the shared actions of the 2 muscles. Making their (seemingly minor) differences all the more significant - which is why I think of them as antagonists. Hope that helps!
Hi Liam 3 new ideas: - How to deal with hairy men clients :D and a real video massaging. - Costs and price setting of massage - How to promote your massage service Top content as always.
Hi Christoph Once again I am very grateful fro your recommendations! Great ideas!! Looking forward to getting started on these.
Do you two guys have OF?
❤ best
I'm glad you like them, thanks for watching!

How many massage you do in a day, I just started like a year ago and I do around 8 massage a day, each an hour long, back to back. My hand are always hurting and elbow joint hurt some times
That is a LOT of treatment in a day! I do 4-5 a day absolute MAX and even this is the high end for me now. The reason being that the quality of work I offer after around 4 hours in clinic really starts to drop off. Also, as you mentioned, this work is really hard on your body and, if you're not careful, you will burn out mentally and/or physically (both have happened to me at various points unfortunately). I recommend you take a look at a video I made: Self Care for manual therapists ruclips.net/video/GQacmyyeiIs/видео.htmlsi=DLnIFKHQ2xUFMG2c
Thank you for sharing
Do you have priformis massage videos?
Hi Kerim! I have this one: ruclips.net/video/YraEXqULjdI/видео.html Definitely need to make some more of these!
@@muscledoctor3166 thank you 🙏🏻
I had same deep massage for an acute torticolis. my muscles were very contracted. It s painful but it works. My chiro finished the work with pulling my neck to put vertebrae back in place.
My wrists and hands are already in pain by using them too much 😢 Thank you for the advice
I’m learning a lot from you Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I also wonder how you keep your hands and thumbs so strong🤔
Thanks Pam, I think it's like any other form of resistance training - progressive overload without pushing it so far that they can't recover. That said, they are only small appendages and weren't designed for such constant and rigorous use and they do give me pain sometimes, which is why it's so important to master using other body-parts...
I'm attempting to roll my skin on my belly, the belly fat is attached to it though. I can't grab enough skin for it to be effective. Any advice on getting the skin to release from the fat?
Unfortunately the only way to achieve this is to lose the body fat... Adipose (body fat) sits within the superficial fascia so we can't separate the two unfortunately, they come as a package! Skin rolling is more effective on areas with less body fat. Depending on your reason for targeting the abdominal fascia it may be worth seeing someone qualified in abdominal massage or even scar work.

Thanks Liam for really listening to your audience :) Definitely becoming Patreon soon!
I am grateful for all of your opinions and requests. Keep them coming!
Thank you for sharing your great technique. I was using too much of my hands 🙌 and already in pain 😢
You're welcome, prevention is better than a cure!

Probably one of my most favorite videos yet!
Very kind, who doesn't love a leg/foot massage?!
Agree
Hi Liam, so great to see that you try to find the balance for yourself, because you are and will help out so much people with your great content. Fantastic that you stay close to your values, quality of quantity is clearly one of them, we all can see that! You and Massage Therapeutics (Maria) are so valuable for me as a personal trainer who wants to add (sports) massage to my scope of practice. Some things that me and I think other people can benefit from: (ofcourse not everything, because of Patreon memberships) Massage/Training: - Your HQ tour (space, music, material, what about outside noise,...) - Intake, list of questions before/after treatment, ... - Draping set-up and switches during session (especially privacy set-ups) - How to build up a (sports) massage - Massage oil / lotion, ... - Running/cycling,... specific cases - How to take care of yourself as a therapist - Longevity positions and techniques - Positioning as a therapist with or without chair (and how to choose one) - Boundaries of scope of practice - Specific build-ups for rotator cuff muscles or other injuries,... - Your learning sources, recommendations, .... Me and so many others will absolutely have the patience, don't put pressure on yourself. Thank you in advance. Christoph
Hi Christoph, thank you so much for taking the time to make such a detailed and thoughtful comment, it is much appreciated. I've already made a start on some of your requests and I think there are some really great ideas in there - thank you! The first one still in the editing process covers the below: - How to take care of yourself as a therapist - Longevity positions and techniques - Positioning as a therapist with or without chair (and how to choose one) Many more to come after that :) Thanks again!
thanks
Very welcome :)
Thanks for sharing your techniques
You're welcome Pam, thanks for watching!
Love the 3 D features 😮it helps me a lot ❤ can you please share what application that you use or website? Thank you so much for sharing this video ❤
Thanks for your comment! I use Essential Anatomy 5, available on IOS - the BEST anatomy app I have used.
@ thank you
The case study videos are so useful Liam. Videos similar to the 'Clincal Physio' channel but including hands on treatment would be amazing.
Thanks Adam, really appreciate the feedback! Have got a few of these on here usually with a first-person perspective view. Will definitely aim to get some more up soon.
Nice ❤
Glad you like it!
Love your work. But the clicking in the video is annoying.
That would be the creaky Marsh couch we were using the demo - sorry! With videos shot in class things are always a lot more spontaneous with less of a focus on production due to their candid nature. I can recommend mute with closed captions :) Thanks for watching!
I'm always nervous to press too hard on client's neck. Pease can you make more detailed video about neck!
Thanks for your comment and for watching. You are correct to be apprehensive about putting too much pressure down into the neck, I have a good few videos on here with regard to neck treatment which do include the standard do's and don'ts of treatment but I will look to add one with more specific advice about the 'don'ts'!
hahaa a tramp stamp havent seeen that in ages.
