It is worth noting that even if a contestant lost they are still given l the information the genealogist has uncovered so everyone is given the the information to reconnect. Being Swedish myself but no roots or history past my grandfather I know nothing. Knowing your past is a big deal for people so I am happy when I see the contestants reconnecting with long lost relatives.

It is heart-wrenching to think that most of them won't find out!

My Farfar is from Södra Möckelby Öland and my Farmor is from Stockholm.

I have traced my Swedish side back to Sölvesborg they were literally the embodiment of the skillful Swedish people. Although they are still world-renowned as silversmiths they also were masters of leather, hats, carpentry, clocks, and of course farming. I was so lucky to have met my great-granduncle my Swedish side has very long-lived people. He had a small shop in which he repaired watches and clocks. Now I know these skills (not jobs) were passed down in the family. The next generation were carpenters and could build a house from scratch this then included my grandfather. The fact that I could master any skill was always evident in my family. I became a machinist and then a tool-maker myself. There was never any question that I could master any skill.

I remember watching this season with my late mother the most. All participants were so likeable! Walter being the most likeable.

Did Karen ever go back to Sweden? I remember i suggested a gofund me back then.

I've seen all seasons bar one, but the first and second seasons are the ones I remember best, even if it was so long ago!
