On the subject of The Russian campaign vs Peninsular war, I'd like to argue that neither of the campaigns were as important as the 1813 campaign. Yes massive loses were suffered by both sides in russia and in Spain but the 1813 campaign in Poland, Silesia and Germany was really the deciding one. The 1813 campaign decided who was gonna control Central Europe, wich was so important to Prussia and Austria (to get their power). Russia alone in Germany would have been too weak. People often forget that Russia also lost alot of soldiers in 1812

Lastly, my original comment was to complete the video description: "Peninsular War: Napoleon in Spain." The Peninsular war was much more than that, as stated before, and Portugal played a large hand on it. Just setting the record straight.

You're missing the point - what you are talking about is the mainstream history and possibly the french version or the british version. I've researched the british version, portuguese version and brazilian version. In a nutshell, there were 3 french incursions on portuguese soil, all of them repelled; then the Anglo-Luso army liberated Spain with the Spanish, and went all the way to Waterloo. Napolean later regreated having been involved in two fronts at the same time - Western and Eastern.

I guess you being french this has a different meaning to you but trying to bellitle it doesn't really change the facts - at the end of the day, the Peninsula War was as important as the Russia campaign - they both were decisive, and there were always colaborationists during most wars, not meaning it was a civil war.

It's called 'Peninsular War' because it was fought in Portugal and Spain. Before Napolean failed in the east, he failed in the west. Contrary to Napoleans’ wishes, Portugal kept ports open in Portugal and Brazil, thus foiling French plans to blockade the UK. The Bristish landed in Portugal and with the help of the guerrillas and the Portuguese army they cleared Portugal and Spain of the French, before winter came. And they went on. This bit is always ignored but it was decisive.
