Hollabbey Homestead
Канада
Добавлен 7 май 2020
Hello! And Welcome! We are Robyn and Dave and are a small homestead in Eastern Ontario documenting our homesteading journey right from the beginning. We moved here in March 2020 to an old brick farm house and overgrown land, and we are slowly reclaiming this raw land to be our homestead bit by bit! Come follow us on our homesteading journey!

😅😅😅
Beautiful shot of the house at 6:00. 🎉🎉The fence removal really opens up the area around the house. Like how calm you 2 are when you work together. (My better half and I will NEVER wallpaper together again-had to send him to his garage LOL). Another great vid. Take care
I regret having to take down fence we put up a year ago (like a lot- because we did that all by hand it and it took most of the summer) but I’m glad the back is getting opened up. Looks a lot better and way more practical! And don’t be fooled! Calmness while working together is not always there haha 😂 I just edit out the parts where we are calling each other names and yelling haha 😂 all though most of the time the not so RUclips friendly names we have for each other are a joke haha 🤣 that’s how we relieve tension of the moment! And I couldn’t imagine trying to wallpaper with Dave, I love him but that’s where I would draw the line- I’d just go away for the day and make him figure it out himself lol 😝 thanks for watching!
I could be a third person.. 😊😂
If you are up for it! Come on over hehe 😉 it’s not heavy- just awkward
The fence is coming along nicely.🎉🎉 Glad you didn't get poked in the eye. 🥹Your birds were definitely a win this year with the lightest one being 19lbs. I bet the secret was the way you cared for and fed them. Hopefully that snow doesn't decide to come south and make the school run slippery tomorrow. Thanks for the update, Robyn. Say hi to Tom and Vic for me.
We woke up to NO SNOW the next morning, thankfully! Not ready for that yet 😂 Tom and Vic say hi! They are loving being “the only Tom’s on the block” again hehe 😉 Thanks for watching 🙏
Now that was interesting. Like how you flew into Mama Bear mode for Vic, Tom and the dogs. (I'd fly off the couch too LOL). Robyn, how long will that meat last-about 6 months? a year? Your videoing of the process was exemplary-so well done, and so respectful with the warnings. Until next time...cheers.
The meat will last a year or a little longer probably in the freezer, But probably will be gone before then :) got a lot of holiday and Sunday dinner turkeys now hehe 😉 thanks for watching! I put the warnings up so I didn’t just surprise people with blood and guts, but I also did want to document it all as it is the harsh reality of eating your “own” meat. Take care!
Can you show us how to Kill the bird ?@@TheHollabbeyHomestead
Dude’s been hiding out amongst the hens😂 Clever guy 😊
It was such a surprise haha! 😂 this MF just walks out in front of us and starts crowing, like he knew he avoided freezer camp haha 😂
Poor Dave thought Harold the rooster had returned from the dead after 2 years haha 😂

Thats funny..
Great pic for a future calendar. 💖
I think so too!!! Hehe 😉
Lady Grey-Plumber Dave-Nova "Messi"-Flying Crock-and a baby Bronco-all great fun.🎉🎉🎉🎉 Of course we'd love to hear/see more about the Bronco. 💙💙💙💙The color is amazing. Take care Robyn "The Tripod" LOL. Until next time...
The free rangers are living the good life. 🎉❤
Absolutely! 💯
Great product. How long does the battery last? Love that Nova protects the homestead from people driving by LOL. ❤❤
Great question about the battery: so we have old DeWalt batteries that have been well used and are different sizes, so I can’t really make a fair judgement as most of these batteries have seen better days lol 😂 but I’d say you get 25 minutes on full blow power with the battery that is not so great haha 😂 Nova is sooo good now about not chasing side by sides that go by. That used to be a real problem haha 😂 now she just wants to be a livestock guardian like her brother and sister haha and scare away people! Can you believe some folks are afraid of Nova ? Haha 😆 she’s literally a cat!
@@TheHollabbeyHomestead 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Is the buyer illiterate?
LOL. Great short! Robyn looks gangsta.
Slow motion makes everything look cooler haha 😂 but this is fun 🤩 turkeys rush out every morning when I let them out- wanted to get it in slow motion. 2 more weeks until freezer camp for these guys (except for Tom and Vic)
Amazing. Just yesterday while watching one of your other posted videos (2 school buses/2 routes this year)...I saw the ol' tractor with its flat tire and weeds growing around it. Such a sad feeling ... I remember when you got it, used it, and even the Wizard working on it. NOW, presto, a happy person I am to see Dave inflate the tire and Z'ol tractor moving on. Scary loading on flat bed, all is well that ends well. The two implements should serve you well! ❤
We really wanted to restore that old tractor ourselves, but was running out of time and space for it. A good friend of ours took it to restore, and probably over time I’ll maybe be able to get some video of the progress with the tractor. It couldn’t have gone to anyone better ❤️ I’m so happy with the trade, those implements will definitely serve us well, and the tractor went to someone who will give her the love and time she deserves! Thanks for watching!
Hey I saw that the other day travelling through town over our bridge 😝.
People eating snow blower 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just said to Dave when I clean the snowblower up and repaint it I’ll put a sticker on it to officially name it “the people eater 3000” 😂
@@TheHollabbeyHomestead 😂😂😂😂
Neat! So how many fence sections can you roll out at once before you have to secure the wire to the fence posts? Belly rubs for the doggies everyday lol.❤ Nova’s orange shirt makes her sooooo happy 🎉
Depending on how you are doing your fence, if there was a long section where it was just t posts theoretically you could do a 100 feet or more, you would want to go wood post to wood post just for attaching to keep it tight! Nova loves her shirt haha 😂 makes her feel special!
The good life ❤
You got that right!
Tom and Vick leading the way. LOL
They know where the food comes from haha 😂
Bet Nova could chase that ball all day. LOL
Absolutely! Haha! She lives for that soccer ball 😂
Happy for y’all! It’s exciting isn’t it. I got my CS 2520 one month ago and I’m still pumped about finally having my little tractor. Have a Blessed Day
Hope you enjoy your tractor!!! Such a handy tool on the farm, we have gotten so much done since we got ours… wish we got it when we first moved here. Thanks for tuning in :)
Thanks for the opportunity to make this for you guys…😉, very funny to see me go that fast on the screen…😄
Thank you for making the most superior fence unwinder the world has ever seen! And you were very fast at it too ;)
The Wiz must have a genius IQ when it comes to fabrication and welding and all things mechanical. 🎉 Even his Queensborough (and surrounding area) sounds are beautiful!
We are so grateful to know such a talented creative inventive machine guy like the Wizard!!!
How is your clutch becareful
👍🏼👍🏼 I had some volunteer potatoes!
Those are the best kind of potatoes!! 🥔
It is a nice trailer a definite improvement. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I think so too!!
I’m just coming back in while I have a few minutes to like and comment. I’ve already watched once in the tv. So has Atlas!😊
I’m sure atlas didn’t mind watching again hehe 😉
Lovely! Next time I visit we need to go for a walk.
Absolutely!! 💯
The care and detail that went into this video is amazing! Really appreciate you finding the time to share your wonderful homestead with us, especially now that the school year has begun and you're back at work. That path into the trees looked both mystical and scary. Glad Nova did not venture into it LOL. Take care, Robyn.
Thank you! 🙏 now that the leaves are changing colour it’s starting to look really stunning around here :) I was planning on going into the woods, we have trails thru there that are nice to walk on, but just as I was about to go in I noticed some poison ivy, and I was only wearing shorts and crocs (we are currently having heat wave of the year) so I decided not to risk it! However the forest trails are a magical place for a walk. :) maybe when it’s cooler and the ivy dies off I’ll try again to go into the woods. Thanks for watching!
Nice tractor but those are turf tires.
That’s what we wanted. Easier and cheaper to repair if we got a flat. You can get this tractor with regular tractor tires
@@TheHollabbeyHomestead As far as turf tires go those look fairly aggressive with big blocks and void areas. If that's all you need, they'll likely last longer than the other options too. If you end up having trouble with packed snow or ice, tire chains will out-perform them all. Anyway, like TX2 said, nice tractor.
are the white Dogs a Female and Male
You are correct! the bigger one (Bailey) is male and the smaller one (Poppy) is female :)
@theHollabbey Homestead what Kind of Dog is Nova and what Bread are the Guardian Dogs
Nova is a Siberian husky and the white dogs are Great Pyrenees and Maremma (both Livestock Guardian breeds)
Lovely angles and shots in this video. The Tomato Tax never gets old-gorgeous Nova. Glad to hear that Junebug and Willow had a great time. Your garden still looks good considering the frosts you've had. Your homestead really is delightful. Thx Robyn.
Thanks for watching! What’s a garden tour without a tomato tax? Hehe 😉 Nova looks forward to it every day! Stuff still looks good here but we are one hard frost away from loosing it all :( thank you for your kind words ❤️
Funny coming across this today. I just got a quote for the same tractor from Terry at Kerby Tractor this afternoon. Great customer service - can't wait to get my hands on the machine!
Must have been in the algorithms! You will NOT be disappointed with the tractor or Terry! Let us know how you like the machine once you get it!
@@TheHollabbeyHomestead Will do!
I bought that same tractor with a cab a few months ago , really enjoy it !
Glad to hear it! We haven’t stopped using ours!!
Excellent 👍
How long have you 2 gentlemen been homesteading.
Husband and wife here, we started our farm in 2020. It was all grown over and not lived in for many years. So we been fixing it up and cleaning it up since 2020.
Lol - Perfectly showered Sunshine Princess!!! 😂You have fun way with words! Take care
Great AirBnB idea! Let us know when you post it. We’re looking for off grid land like what Russell has but with owned passage. Fingers crossed.
Won’t probably post it as air b&b until next spring likely, got a few more things to sort out before we start hosting guests, but will definitely let yall know when. That is so exciting!!! I understand wanting owned passage/road access. That is a must for most people. Around here there’s lots of properties for sale with road access, all excellent pricing per acre in my opinion :) my fingers are crossed for you! And keep me updated!
@@TheHollabbeyHomestead Thx Robyn. Will do
I marvel often how you and Dave have improved the Homestead since buying the place. So so many things looking great now. Fun to watch the improvements happen too. Yeah RUclips for channels! I really like your Airbnb idea. Sweet!
I feel like this year everything is coming together quickly on the farm (and honestly the tractor helps a lot!) but we also spend every chance we get working on improvements around here! It’s a big commitment but a big reward too!!! It will be a while before we could even consider air b&b for the trailer, but for now it’s a beautiful spot for friends and family. As always, thank you for popping by and watching our little channel!
@@TheHollabbeyHomestead 👍
Nice video. I'm thinking about buying this tractor/loader/backhoe. It was very helpful to see how the backhoe connects. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! I couldn’t find any videos (last time I checked) on RUclips fully walking thru how the backhoe comes off and goes on, so I thought it would be useful to some folks to see how it works. We love our tractor! No complaints at all! And have gotten a lot of use out of it and a lot of projects done around the farm in the short time we have had it! Thanks for watching :)
At my place they lie on the deck waiting for a squirrel to pop its head up across the pond. At your place, WHAM! So much going on.
Snort at your last comment. Hahaha.
I promise it is pretty quiet and peaceful here too most of the time- and the livestock dogs do stop barking haha 🤣
😂😂😂😂
Glad the dogs are ok. That sounded so scary! The sunflowers are gorgeous. Thanks for another beautiful video.
Glad we got up and intervened. Dogs were okay, and I’m sure they would have been if we didn’t race out of bed- but glad to back them up! Thank you for watching! Our sunflowers are really stunning this year!
Scary. So glad they were able to alarm you of the pending danger. Wow. ❤
Very grateful we reacted when we did. Sure they would have been able to handle the situation on their own, but also- glad to help when we can. Thank you for watching!
So nice of Russell to finally visit the Hollabbey Homestead! Isn’t it great that you can help him out with the dogs when he goes away on vacation. Such good neighbours…….😊
That’s what good neighbors are for! :)
Great job Bailey and Poppy! And to you both since turkeys notoriously try and die when they are very young.
They certainly earn their keep haha 🤣 honestly tho, couldn’t do it without them!
Ok as you know I’ve already watched on the tv so just coming back to like and comment. Great job on this informative video. Lgds are wonderful dogs that often end up maligned or in situations.
With thoughts of Thanksgiving dinner….. 😉
They know they will get a share haha 🤣
Just watching this video after the Junebug and Willow sleepover video. Wow! You really have improved your homestead in a short time.
Thank you!! It’s been a labour of love for sure. We started from scratch here basically as it hadn’t been a farm for about 60 years +…. Little bits at a time!!! That’s how we do it! Thank you for looking back on our old videos- we been documenting since the beginning for our own memories. Sometimes we feel like we haven’t made much progress- other times it feels like leaps and bounds for us. It’s all coming along!
