Overstrung Broadwood in mahogany case
what an horrible sound.
Can you explain what's happening? What makes the tone sound so different?
Lovely sound. Is this piano still available? Didn’t see it on your website under the current stock.
Hi sorry, no longer available We have lots of unlisted pianos tho......
@ thanks for the reply. I will send you a WhatsApp later. Would it be possible to arrange a time to pop into and maybe try play some of them?
@@yxyc87 Of course the workshop is open by appointment 07500 223082
A good demonstration of the instrument. They are a far superior Piano to many modern makes, and they go on for ever.
Garota de Ipanema, Tom Jobim. Sempre boa de se ouvir. 🙂
Suena especial !! ❤ cada piano con su timbre
The transposing system seems pretty simple. I'm surprised that they didn't make more of these unique pianos. Tuning and tone sounds great! Thanks for demonstration.
Beautiful!
Can you ship this piano internationally?
That's a truly lovely piano.
Love the sound of this piano! Not too dull, not too bright. The bass notes sounded so warm. What was the name of the first tune you played? I think I've heard it before
Double valve stack player it looks like , great fun trying to get the pressure up on them punching out the valve facings ETC this one not bad all considered, it knocks out a tune and is good excersice for the 🍺 swillers
Yea Perfect for a pub, needs a tweak but works well for 115 years old. They work on Vacuum by the way, more difficult to hold than pressure
The pianola aspect seriously needs regulating, it's not playing properly, lots of hammers are double striking, is this something you will do before sale?
@@chriswalden6519 you sound like the type that for £150 would expect it to include delivery in the Kings Coronation Coach ?? Too late. It’s sold to a pub and they are delighted with it.
very interesting, a lovely sound
👍 very well
Great name
Good sound !!
what’s up man? not much just challen
5:07 I liked that sound for a minute lol. Do do do doo doo do.
Very interesting!! I’ve never heard of that sound. Thanks for posting!
Growing up I would try to identify the kind of piano that had this charming "clunky" sound, but I had no idea what it was called. Would this be a honky tonk or a tack piano? Apparently those are not the same.
I have a collard and collard baby in a darker mahogany and love it
Love your work 💞💕💝💖
I also love his jazz playing ❤
I love the sound 😮
Hello, what is the name of the songs that were played?
The first one is " if it's a sin".
Guilty, Two Sleepy People.
What happened to the candle holders?
After 130 years anything could have happened. Many candlesticks were thrown away when electric lights were invented in the 20's. Many were given to one of the 2 world wars to be melted down for bullets...
Thank you for another lovely recital 😊 Can you tell me the name of that (well known) piece from 2:00 ? The Challen is a gem.
As a non musician, it never fails to amaze me the sound qualities of the many piano's you so kindly show us, it is a true delight, many thanks...😁
I love this piano even more than the knight piano 😮
wish you ship worldwide 😢
What a lovely piano. One of the great British makes of the past.
What a strong sounding piano, so much expression with light & firm key strokes....Many thanks...
Glorious sound!
Beautiful piano. Great tone. Well maintained. Good demonstration. Stormy Weather and Joplin. A very good day indeed. Thanks. Cheers.
That's really beautiful.
Sounds and looks lovely.
The out of tune notes open up a nostalgic portal to the 1800's. Not a terrible. Sound its out but not so terribly it can not be hacked
Awesome & some neat facts, just bought one for 50p.
That’s lovely! Sounds like The Keel Row, doesn’t it. Thanks for showing and playing it for us ❤
Love these demos! 🎶
great voice
One thing I notice is that the hammers in your piano have a lot of side-play in the pivots, indicating that the action needs to be properly rebuilt for it to function well. I imagine some of the reader-pins ('keys') at the far end of the hammer tails, are wobbling so much, that they are inadvertently reading adjacent pin-tracks of unrelated tunes, as other folks here have mentioned! Also, if the frame/soundboard/pinblock have not already been rebuilt and the piano restrung, that might be in order, to get a good sound. When an old piano gets this kind of tone, with false harmonics and strange noises/artifacts on top of the basic note, it could be things loose and rattling on the soundboard/bridges etc. and/or the original softer iron strings might be near the end of their lifespan. If you talk to piano restorer Jason Leininger on Facebook, who restores antique 19th century pianos (like square pianos, overdamper uprights, pre-Victorian grands etc) using original techniques, materials and craftsmanship, I do believe he has a source of the proper softer iron wire used to string these lower tension earlier pianos, which is different than the steel strings used to string modern pianos. I imagine that with the rest of the instrument rebuilt and then with new strings of the proper type and gauges etc (which of course also change as the piano goes higher in the scale... the wire gauges become thinner), then I know it will sound a lot better.
Sounds like 'Aiken Drum' to me... ruclips.net/video/mmWX3aInJ-U/видео.html Best wishes.
es tan obsceno tratar el instrumento: el nivel de inteligencia en el nivel de un mono. En nuestra familia había tal Pianola, solo con cintas perforadas de otras obras clásicas. Horas para jugar y disfrutar.
I would like to see the process of pinning that barrel. One tune would be hard enough, but ten tunes?
Often the cylinder would be taken out, old tunes/pins stripped off, put on a lathe to true it up, new marking paper wrapped around the cylinder, and then put back in the piano, marked while installed in the piano, and then taken out again and pinned. Here this British Pathe' film shows an edited version of this process, with Mr. Antonio Tomasso, the noteur (mechanical-music music arranger). Note that he uses a tattered copy of what appears to be the original commercial published sheet music for a tune. The other 'twiddly bits' (ornamentation) of his arrangement, appears to have been all in his head (!!!): ruclips.net/video/dHcmIcP7ouo/видео.html
I don't know why "for the rest of your life" made me laugh so much.
Надо же, древние лбди научились записывать на бревно.
I searched for the name of the music at 2:50 for a long time, asked the musicians, asked under other videos with the same composition. As a result, I found a cartoon and found that very song. She's magical)) I had to learn and play something like that. I tried))))) ruclips.net/video/vf-wqfV3q7g/видео.html
🤔🤔Naja! Also das sind nur ungeordnete Tonfolgen, wo man nicht identifizieren kann, um was für ein Musikstück es sich dabei handelt. höre 3:06 🤔🤔Well! So these are just disordered sequences of notes where you can't identify what kind of piece of music it is. listen 3:06
It’s an early, analog sequencer.
