For a shelf display, it's not a bad looking kit, but I wish it would get a much needed update, as the engine bay and undercarriage are really lacking in actual details. Rally IIs could be a bit better as well, but thankfully we can scrounge better parts from newer kits. The front clip looks great, but the headlights could be recessed a bit more. Also the rear panel under the bumper should be cut out to accept dual exhaust tips. Anyway, just a few discrepancies I've picked out.

Hey, AMT typically with flash? Aha! Got ya! You haven't seen Arfix, have ya? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 AMT, Monogram ..... great model kits. By the way, in this particular model, guess what? I own one exactly the same in anthracite metalic black. A beauty! No flash, no warped pieces, any and all pieces fit perfectly. And have been so the rest of my AMT model cars... 35 to be exact. Mustangs, dragsters, street machines, oldies, classics, muscle car, you name it. I'm giving you all the credit with MPC and even REVELL in some pitiful cases. Of course, I'm not saying Arfix is weak with cars; they are focused on airplanes, but man, let's be honest, Arfix are sorry pieces of plastic. So, I don't think that your approaching to AMT should be realistic.

Just got this in the mail in late 2024. After looking it over, I agree with your overall review, very nice. The reason I’m leaving this comment mainly is to say how extremely disappointed I am with the instruction sheet (and this only). Not only confusing, but poorly printed to the extent that it is blurry. In my research, I found out that this is apparently a rerelease of an Accurate Miniatures release. Kept my fingers crossed and went over to the Scalemates site, and bingo, there was a much better download of instructions issued with the original model, including the PE and more info on painting particular parts. Small drawback, whoever sent in the photos of the instructions did not lay them totally flat, so they appear a little warped. I still highly recommend printing them out for anyone who decides to make this puppy. Update, the instructions at Scalemates are actually for the F3F-1 which is a little different from the -2, but they almost totally the same.

I like your review of the AMT Villa Riviera moel kit, dar as i know as the Movie Car Of The Year, it apeared in the movie "For Those Who Think Young" starring James Darren and Bob Denver but it was painted silver grey with the half roof painted dark red, and later that same year(1964) it was painted cherry red and the half roof white just like on the box and it apeared in a episode of the SiFi classic The Outer Limits "The Duplicate Man", then the car was repainted again in white apearing in a episode of The Perry Mason tv series. Though the actual car George Barris customize was really a 1963 model, not a 65, and worked down on it for the movie. Regardlessly of the model kit, i have both the original(1964-65) Villa Riviera kit and the re-issued kit, now what's nice about the re-issued version it included the triple pin stripe white walls that the original didn't in 1964, and the decals has alot more than the original decal sheet from the older kit. Now what the kit both old and new doesn't have or include the options are the custom tailights that the real car have are the 57 Nash Rambler front signal lights used as taillights for the back and extension tail on both sides that Barris did, so i have to plan to make that extension rear and scratch build the taillights, also the hood which AMT could have made an optional custom hood with the chrome strips molded on to either paint or use Chrome Strip, as dor the custom grille, not quite accurate, the center piece needs to be aerodynamically forward same with the chrome grille because both pieces are simply straight up instead forward, and for the body no problem, for the half roof plan dies have the lines to cut or trim off part of the roof for the Villa look but for the wheel wells doesn't as it suppose to be rounded for custom, not in it;s stock form but it's not a problem to measure and mark to round off the wells with a moto tool for accuracy, though it'll be a bit work to do on the kit to make it look exactly how the real car looks. Look up on Google fore pics of George Barris's Villa Rivera for the history of the car, it's been owned by various owners over the years, repainted adn customized several times but the current owner who lives back east restored to its original look and well taken care of.

Le Mans 99 is my favourite, mainly as it was on Eurosport for about 16 hours . So many cool cars and pretty much racing to the end .

Ha that's crazy! I looked up this kit to see what the size of it is as I wanna use it for a diorama after a race car crash in le man's and was gonna turn into an ambulance and heard you were thinking of turning it into one yourself, great minds think alike!

Thanks for the video, your naming of parts will help greatly. After 35+ years of model kits, this is my first amt truck and the kit is showing it's age. Modern modelers are spoiled by CAD assembly guides with correctly numbered parts, it really feels like a 3d jigsaw putting the engine together. Keep up the great reviews.

Fun kit kind of nice that they leave it up so you can make it your own. I built this when it came out I used a flame pinstripe to add contrast. The trailer was also released by it's self with a couple figures

I got this exact kit for christmas of 1997 or 98 :3 I kinda destroyed it at some point, and re-used the rear panel for a front spoiler on a Pontiac GTO model, fitted led lights and all x3 Had to get one since it was available again
