INT650 vs. CB500-X off-road!! I regret trying this!
Просмотров 601Год назад
One of my best friends finally talked me into taking my Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 off road (dirt and gravel with lots of potholes to dodge) with his Honda CB500-X at Wheeler Nature preserve here in beautiful Northern Alabama. I totally regret doing it. Because now I'm hooked! Looking hard at scrambler tires for the INT650. Look how dirty the GoPro gets lol. Hope you like the vid, we had a b...

Are DNA Performance Filters REALLY worth it for your Royal Enfield? My answer might surprise you!!
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
Does a performance air filter really give us that much power gain? I'm going to give you a quick overview of how it installs, performs, and if it's really worth your hard earned $!! Huge thanks to @my-enfield612 and @stuartfillingham for the wealth of knowledge they both have provided to RE 650 owners worldwide. Thanks guys!
How to wheelie a Honda Super Cub! No clutch? No problem!!
Просмотров 2 тыс.Год назад
Just a quick how-to wheelie the most sold vehicle of all time, the Honda Super Cub! Even without a clutch, there's a free rev zone between gears, and that's what I use to get every last one of those 9 HP to the back tire. Irresponsible? Yes. Bad for the clutch? Definitely. Fun? Hell yes!! If you try this and bust your ass/bike, it's not my fault. There's my disclaimer lol.

Booster plug doesn't work on the Euro5 2023 model
@@chrispulham4779 Correct, unfortunately.
I like your channel! Subbed.
Thank you!
So… 2nd gear, mash your foot down into the neutral zone and rev it while shifting weight? … I’m scared to drop this b*tch 😂
Those pipes are... erm... not my taste, to say the least🫣
"HIGH PERFORMANCE FILTERS" 🧐 I've seen a lot of videos about changing the air filter, they all say the performance will improve. But no one could measure or calculate, only words...How much percet performance was increased exactly?
Hoping you get it sorted out soon and have many trouble-free miles. I know how frustrating it is. Mike (former BMW owner)
Thank you!
Did it affect mileage?
I'm sure it did to a certain extent, but highway mileage would stay the same as the ECU only looks for ambient temperature during acceleration, not cruising. Conversely a fuel X would affect your highway mpg, as it inserts false lean signals from the O2 sensor rather than modifying temperature.
interceptor in stock setup is capable enough to pull even from 2k rpm. I have installed fuel x pro, dna filter, free flow exhaust. overall it seems not worth all these changes. not noticeable difference and definitely it won't convert royal enfield to triumph st900. I regret all expenses considering I am now going to upgrade to triumph. Anyone owning interceptor, has slight chance to upgrade in few years, don't waste money after the performance mods.
Yep, very little if any performance increase with all those changes. I sent my booster plug back for a refund. I have dropped 14kg from the weight (which is probably the most significant performance improvement). Fitting a LiFePo4 battery when the OEM one dies is probably the best bang for buck in that regard.

Useful information. Thank you. And I love the Huntsville area.
Nice man.
Is it worth adding free flow headers?
I don't have them so I can't say for sure, but personally if I went full headers and exhaust, plus my DNA intake, I would start looking at more advanced fuel management and tuning than my booster plug or a fuelX would be able to provide. These (and most) bikes run pretty lean from the factory So there's not a ton of room to open them up before they start bogging down.
Took my nephews to Hooters for 16th bday. Their dad groaned and said, "Well, I'll change sheets in the morning. "
😂😂😂 the joys of fatherhood
Royal Enfield configures their bikes to run as lean as possible in order to meet emissions standards. They are so lean that the idle on many of their bikes, especially the Himalayan, is a problem. Even RE recoginzies this and they have added a "choke" that allows the rider to richen up the mixture manually by holding down the choke button.
Kawasaki has an enricher on the FI Mean Streak 1600. Its odd to have a "choke" on an FI bike.
@@mijithebub If Kawasaki is also selling their bikes very lean, a choke makes all the sense in the world
Very cool. Thank you.

I used the filter with straight through pipes and Lextec exhausts, the weight saving is immense and bottom to midrange is certainly improved.
Bet it sounds amazing too!
Epic exhaust note, and a nice overrun when you shut off the throttle.@@jewciferrides
If we use it in stock muffler then it will be as significant as it is on after market exhaust...? I think freeflow exhaust are lighter then stock,so here is major role of waight loss.
Aftermarket exhausts are 1/3 to 1/2 the weight of stock so yes, much weight savings. I did the exhaust first, so not sure how the intake on stock exhausts would be. Not as lean as intake + exhaust at least.
Hows the top end power delivery? Another video suggested that you may need to tune it, because with the DNA, the air fuel mix is pretty thin and you loose out on the top end...
I ended up adding a booster plug to help with A/F ratio, I'd say the low end was affected more than top end for me, and the BP fixed that and smoothed out the throttle response for on/off bigtime. Check out my vid on that too!
Sounds good bro.
you should check it out with a full header swap from Hitchcock's and a Power Commander, that will open her up well, sound and power delivery will both be increased noticeably... edit: I have a 22 GT with euro4 ECU and I have the parts I mentioned above plus the K&N air filter as well as the shorty slip ons from Enfield Precision
I also do this on my super cub 50 By using integrated clutch While running reduce speed , Hold on 2nd gear on top, trotel and release the gear to 1st
That's how it's done on a Cub! 👍 Our poor clutches 🤣🤣

The FuelX Pro provides 10 maps (9 actual maps and a stock setting). During open loop operation, and in differing riding conditions, I don't see how a rider can reliably select the best/most effective map. Can someone explain how those decisions can be made?
FuelX (all modelsl work in closed loop mode, when the ECU is listening to the O2 sensors, inserting various amounts of false lean (or rich for 1 and 2 on pro) signals for the ECU to make corrections. Closed loop is idling and cruising with stationary throttle. So if someone had made their bike, lean through modifications or altitude or otherwise to the point where it was not idling correctly, That's where the Fuel X would come in. The booster plug works in open loop mode, under acceleration and changing throttle position. It keeps the closed loop mode stock.
@@jewciferrides I understand the general idea of the FuelX. What I don't understand is how a rider can reliably select the best map, in real time, for the immediate situation. Seems as though many riders just set it at 5/6 and leave it there, which defeats the whole purpose of the multiple maps. Without some sort of sensor telling me if I am too lean or too rich for the current moment, it appears to be nothing more than a guess.
@@TheBigBlueMarble Exactly. My opinion is let the ECU and O2 sensors do their job for idling and cruising. The only time I would ever consider a Fuel X would be if I'd modified my engine into no longer idling properly. In that case, I'd just find the map that got the idle back to healthy.
These bikes are designed to run lean from the factory. No amount of ECU correction can fix that.
@@WaterDR-tw8re Not so. They are not designed to run lean, they are only configured to run lean. In fact, they run hot and rough at low RPM when running so lean. This can easily be changed by passing modified O2 and termperature data to the ECU during closed loop operation. They will then run cooler and smoother in closed loop.
Nice. I have the same, a '21 model in red with Givi top box. I'm selling my other bikes and keeping the cub 👍🇦🇺
Such a fun little bike, and very practical with the top box!
Looks like fun. I’ve been waiting on sump protection and fork gaiters before I take mine off road. Down here near Birmingham.
Probably a good call, the suspension leaves much to be desired as well but with gaiters and a sump guard you have some protection at least. Northern AL Royal Enfield meet might have to happen soon!
FYI, the Booster plug does not work with Euro5 ECU so if your after 2022 probably wont work you'll get an engine light some 2022's have the euro5 computer in them my 2022 did not.
try fuelX
The bike is supposed to crackle and pop, you just notice it more when you change the pipe because you dont have mufflers to muffle the sound. The crackle and pop is the CAT burning off unspent fuel.
Very true! Just a bonus that it sounds awesome 😎
@@jewciferrides lol ya great minds do sound alike, I love the sound in Deceleration as well.
ummm mine didn't pop until I removed the stock headers for the open pipes from Hitchcock's, so it isn't just the cats causing unspent fuel to burn
@@SeamusMacMattain yes it is but with the stock pipes, they are mufflers and they did their job, they muffled the sound of the crackle and pop.
Thanks for the vid. I also have: DNA air filter, Emgo Hooligan slip-ons and I have the booster plug. I love the way my bike runs. it feels like it runs as it should, booster plug make a noticeable difference in acceleration, not more power, well maybe .00001 hp more lol but mostly just a very nice acceleration, just rides really nice. by the way my bike sounds exactly the same as yours. a great tell that the booster plug is working well is the plug colour, with the booster plug the spark plugs are a very nice slightly darker in colour.
I agree on all points, and it seems great minds think alike! Good call checking the plug to verify. 👍
Great video very informative.
Thanks! It's a confusing subject, hopefully I explained it well 😅
thous silencers looks so good how much price of those silencers.
???
They are Emgo Cocktail Shakers, upswept version. I flipped them upside down to make them lay flatter. They were about $150USD
@@jewciferrides its look So cool
I don't care i just love riding my intercepter i didn't get it to go fast just to ride in style
Nothing wrong with that either! 👍 Style for days!
Always start with the Intake side on any modifications. Doesn't do any good to add free flow mufflers if it can't flow . Sounds great!
Very true, unless you're just after sound not performance. Thanks!
@@jewciferrides Aaannndd like you said you sometimes see a flatening of the stock torque curve with just slip-ons. Us crafty old wrenches seen it once or twice before 😉
You mean like starting at the intake port side of the head? Since if that’s the bottle neck point all of these modification won’t matter. However, If the intake side of the head isn’t the restriction yes, this modification will help. Waste of money in some bikes, while it’s helpful on others.
Great video keep it up. Ride safe.
Thanks bro! You too!
Great views!! Tennesee is gorgeous ❤
Absolutely! ❤

Nothing but good times on these little Hondas. 👍
Seriously guys why bother. If you want to go fast buy a supersport. Royal Enfields are great fun bikes. Maybe they may make an 850 one day but until that time just enjoy.
Maybe they don't want a gay sportsbike but just want to a little more out their enfield
Nice video but next time please do not add any music for your viewers to hear that beautiful engine and exhust sound. BTW, the music is awful.
Fair enough, thanks for the feedback! 👍
I'm planning to ride from Atlanta to Huntsville tomorrow. Taking the scenic route.
That's going to be an awesome ride!
Great Video. This is one of the most beautiful rides inside the Huntsville area. Looking forward to more. There are a few more equally beautiful rides in North Alabama.
That ride today was every bit as good if not better!
I have the DNA kit and booster plug combined with a TEC 2 into 1 Stinger exhaust. The throttle response is definitely crisper but the main gain is the sound of that motor, its gorgeous!
Absolutely, it's a shame not to let these motors sing! I also have a booster plug on the way, curious to see how it affects performance.
@@jewciferrides Do you have a euro4? I have a euro5 and was wondering if a booster plug actually works
@@ride_the_wind I have heard the Euro5 ones will throw a code after a while with the booster plug unfortunately.
@@ride_the_windi think tecbikeparts have a video of it working with euro5
You think its revving lower for a given speed !! ?? ... did the filter magically change the gearing of the bike too ? 🤣😂🤣
Not magic. Science 🤣
Exactly right, The engine at a specific RPM, will always turn the rear wheel at the same rotational velocity for the same transmission gear selected. My INT 650 does 60 MPH at a tad under 4,000 RPM in 6th gear with a standard (130/70/18) tire on the rear and a standard (100/90/18) tire on the front. Either Jewcifer put on a smaller front tire (<100/90/18 and he's not really hitting 60), put on a larger rear tire (>>130/70/18) or he has a extra tooth rear sprocket or his speedometer is off (my guess). Changing the intake or exhaust has no effect on gear radios or tire sizes, rotational velocity of the driving rear wheel will be the same for a given RPM if all gearing is the same before and after improving engine performance. Torque to the rear wheel will vary though. I have not installed the DNA kit, but some time ago I installed free flowing, old fashioned bottle type, low slung mufflers that remind me so much of my beloved Triumph of days gone by. I keep the baffles in but it is still plenty loud and makes a nice civilized roar at 4K RPM so I know when to shift without looking down at the Tach. The mufflers have given me an increase in low end torque that I am happy with. I see no reason to spend the money for the (IMO, grossly overpriced) air filter kit with the way my bike now performs.
@@jewciferrides Ha, not really. Please see my comment above.
@@oldgeezerproductions you are both correct, I'm still newish to bikes and didn't understand how the gearing and rpm are tied together. I appreciate the info! 👍 Also I agree 4k is easy to listen for with these rather loud cans.
@@jewciferrides Thanks for that. Knowing (and admitting) that you can be wrong is an important step toward wisdom, in my opinion. You have a good delivery and speak well and the wind noise is something you will fix as you make more videos, I'm sure.
Great video!
Thanks man!!
What about adding a booster plug or fuel X?
That was one of my biggest questions, because I had heard so much about It being less pleasant to ride without one of those installed, after doing the air filter. In my experience it's actually smoothed out at low revs, stop and go traffic, etc. I am sure it would make more power with a tuner of some sort, but from a rideability and safety perspective, the ECU should be able to learn just fine after 15 minutes of idling and one or two gentle rides.
@@jewciferrides I'd be afraid of backfires and running too lean without a booster plug
@@theradiantchild No backfires, same decel pop and crackle as it was stock only mufflers swapped. The ECU does read the O2 sensors and learn in that first 15 minute idle, and so far I feel like it's kept itself from running too lean. That being said, I'm sure there are still power games to be had by adding one of the fuel controllers!
I put a boosterplug on my FZ6 yamaha 4 bange, it made a big difference, no stalling and a more beefy midrange 👍👍
I appriciate the advice to switch that small ass bolt for a go pro screw! I never even thought of it! 😂 totally worth it
