Very insightful episode
Listened on the podcast which Ive just recently found. I loved this episode the most and would have to say Errol is very knowledgeable on Samba. Keep up the good work guys
Great episode Very informative 👏
Congratulations on some great buffalos. What projectiles were you using on this hunt? Looks like they performed well.
9.3x74 a brutal kicker ? try a 585 ,its savage
Off the bench without a recoil pad it's not that much fun. In the field, you don’t even think about it. It did have a habit of slipping off the backpack shoulder straps though.
Great info Errol well worth watching
Great info from Errol, all the talk about the aerial culls in areas recently hit by bushfires and the positive effect it has on the animals that remain afterwards has made me look at culling a bit differently. The fella in the brown jumper is dreaming if he thinks that many hunters are going to have the ability to shoot loads of hinds per year. I'm starting to think culling is just a necessary evil that we get very bitter about because we're often locked out of some of these areas with big populations of deer. And we're right to be annoyed at that.
Thanks for the comment. I agree it’s not something many will get on board with and the mass population issues do seem to be in areas we can’t access. Good to have the conversation. Hurls
A great interview very interesting, totally agree with all Errol had to say , i personally learned a lot from his books , i don't think you can understand the true concept of being a hunter till you can be successful on Sambar in an ethical manner
Those 30 at Eildon come down every year and been watching them for over 20years,yes nearly all hinds as stags have been poached as they are in a no go zone and around Eildon the amount that have been spotlighted is terrible including some on the footy oval and the township
What calibre and make of rifle are you all using. I have hunted buffalo with a .375 Holland and Holland in a Sako rifle.
What a great episode! Errol has a wealth of knowledge on Sambar and I hope to do his course one day. A couple of points which you might find interesting. I’ve only been hunting for 18 months and in that time I saw 40-50 hinds and only two stags. Fast forward to the recent September school holidays here in Vic and I saw 10 stags in a week including my brother and I both getting our first stags. We’ve also seen deer in the paddocks during the day. Our neighbours have 10-15 deer in their paddock on a nightly basis and a bigger paddock a down the road has had 30-50. Are these herds of Sambar or just individual groups sharing a feeding ground? I’ve also seen videos of both a hind and a stag defending a fawn from Indonesian wild dogs, I’d be happy to link here if I find it again.
Epic indeed !! Great editing. Felt like I may have got a bit dusty just watching 😊
Awsome guys.
Good work fellas
Cheers, and there is more to come.
Great to see & hear from Professor Sambar!
Now that’s a cool title!
Hi Guys, Daley Waters pub is worth a look. Roos around Longreach are normally bad, avoid driving that at night. Have great trip!!!
Great discussion fellas. We had a similar experience of the buff moving from wetlands to the high ground after dark. Unfortunately ran out of days and had to head home before getting one.
What is being said without being stated is that the Beretta 686 is pretty much the same as the higher end models from a strictly shooting standpoint.
I may have missed this info but what was the distance used for sighting?
Hey guys. Really enjoying your work. Not sure if you've considered this as a topic before but I think it would be really good to get tge Berretta workshop team in to talk about their cerakoting service. What are the logistics, what options, what results to expect in the short and long term. I have a Tikka T3 with bluing that's a bit worn and thinking of going down the cerakote path to make it an all weather bush rifle. Just don't know if the cerakote surface would last 5, 10, 20 years? Anyways, thanks for doing what you do
Hey mate, stay tuned. I recorded this down with them in their workshops and am editing it now. Will be up shortly. Hurls
When are you getting this legend back on again fellas?
Just posted the next one mate. Stay tuned for more!
Thanks guys. Keep them coming.
Great video, really informative 👍
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
I think the boys on team Dutchie were all .308 A few of us also used 30-06, and 7mmRM
Nice work ! What are your rifles chamber in?
guns too short for him
In what way Anthony. Length of pull? Curious what you might change. Let me know 👍
You welcome @Rohen
Fun watch, looks like a great time 💪🏻 well done lads
For science 😂😂
9980 Ears to go!
Nice feed Ian. Well done.
I am pretty sure Nikon ceased making rifle scopes in 2020, but still produce spotting scopes!
Can you tell us about your bench rest position in a future video. I’ve never seen that before would love to know the thought process behind it.
Sure, will do.
Great camera footage Mark.
Thanks, right place, right time!
Well done boys 🦌 💥 💪
I heard that a big hunting club from Qld books Nundle during June/July every year, and just goes after everything. Apparently they book in and out, when they can get down, someone is always there during the week - 2 weeks they come down.
That’s a lot of meat!🤠🙌 The Tatonka modulus definitely looks up to the task.
Looks like Tatonka nailed it
Always admired how you guys respect the game and nature. Great work!
That meat shelf setup is brilliant!👍
It looks super durable. Perfect for rugged terrains
That gutless method is a game-changer👌
Congratulations Michael so much dedication and well deserved mate your an inspiration, I just went and got a rifle but with the freezer full I’m keen to break out the bow again, I did take my first state forest animal with a bow though, goat @ 50m. Ian when you tell someone that’s never shot a deer or even touched one a whole deer is the whole thing just saying 🤣, very enjoyable watch fellas thanks all
Great demo! Seeing the pack in action makes me confident for my next hunt.
Awesome Info Guys!
Nice! Thanks for the demo👍
No problem 👍
Love how versatile this system is, perfect for both short and long hunts🏹
Impressive setup! Makes me rethink my own gear choices for hunting trips.
It’s certainly a continuous process of refinement, improvement and innovation when it comes to ‘getting your gear right’.
looks like a fantastic pack guys, Heaps of straps to synch down the load.
Sure is. I didn't think I would be shelving my Kuiu pack this quickly. Very well thought out and designed.
Mate what's the name of the orange sling holder. Love it
@@barrettsoutdooradventures4630 I call It “ The Orange Sling Holder” 😂 Jump over to the website: it’s in my gear list page
Hi guys I am keen for the game bags . I have question for you . What are your thoughts on sustainable deer management for the future of deer hunting
Hey mate. That’s a BIG question and one that has lots of follow up questions. What scenario would you be considering this? Public, Private, Meat, Heads, population growth / control etc. Given Deer are considered pests in most states, one major stakeholder just wants them gone. So if the rest of us follow guidelines to manage the deer for better heads, but then choppers just blast them anyway, I find it hard to see how it will ever work. I once hunted a station that was managed by the hunters to grow better quality heads, but the station manager shot and dropped everything he could. On public land, everyone has their own hunting goals. How do you manage for one specific goal? Keen to hear more. Either here or hit us up on our FB messenger chat and we can discuss further. Cheers Hurls
thanks lads
