Outstanding! Great music by an American institution, JJ Cale. Just fine players and their instruments, no autotuned vocals, no sampling, no sterile digital effects or slick production. Just playing and singing live.
I have played this track at midnight on every Friday for the last 7 years. It is Brilliant and I will continue to do so for as long as god let's me...Play one Bill!
If you havent done it already: Check out "Same old blues" from the same session. There you will find both JJ Cale and Leon Russell on top of their game.
JJ was one of the greatest songwriters of his generation and one of the coolest performers - ever. Few people are aware that several of his albums were recorded in his home studio he played EVERY instrument and did all the vocals with a few exception with female backup singers. I wrote an article about him for a major industry website shortly after his passing. While researching I was totally stunned by many of the comments from stars such as Eric Clapton who said “now I don’t know where to get songs to record. JJ’s chemistry with Leon is palpable on all the recorded sessions.. He’s in an elite class, hopefullly jamming as we other musicians in another realm of existence - as we musicians say “Heavens Band” got better once again. We’ve reached an age where our inspiring hero’s are dropping like flies. Arts4Humanity will be producing a Tom Petty Tribute/MusiCares Benefit in August. It will be live streamed and reach over 20k people. We were going to do a JJ Cale one this summer but the loss of Petty changed that - he did a brilliant tribute to JJ himself - some of which can be seen on RUclips. Our events are designed “For The Benefit Of All” and we provide exceptional promotional content that reaches thousands and items for A4H Sponsors. Hi Folks, how about all those gem sessions releases CD or Lp ? Anyone ever heard of this? If not, what a crime!!
I had this dvd. Must Have watched it a hundred times. This is my favorite version of this song. Second being Jerry Garcia band @ keen college 1980
Great and gorgeous grove!
They cut so much of JJ's playing throughout the entire show.
I would put all so called music stars from today in a room, and make them listen to this music… I am sure their confidence would go down rappidly
Search the same song with Eric Clapton ( San Diego 2007) Another great version ,

He was also a very good mixer and sampler too, very original and ahead of his times for a Tuscan soul guy
They asked JJ how he spent the 80s and he said mowing the lawn and listening to rap. Hahaha. Love this guy lol
@@mumbles215 Yep, one of my favorite dudes. So low key and real. And his dry humor is subtle and hilarious.
Jj looks like hid on that 7os show 😆🤣😂
epic bassline
