"Fresh pasture for freshly castrated....". IMO that make for some happy steers. Makes them less depressed and heal up faster.

What’s your cost of gain off of 50 head on 50 acres with a combination drylot / backgrounding?

Great video! Butch Ashland Ohio
All cattle farmers need to unite and form a coalition.
This was very educational! Thank you...
Good info for southeastern producers for sure. Alabama here , we have to try to pattern ourselves as producers , almost ditto as your opinion is expressed here.
TEGRITY
Great job representing the cattle families 👪 lots of nice insight 👍thanks brother 🙏from Miami County Ohio farm lands 👌 I have some family here does almost exactly what you're operation is doing they roll a few bull wagons in and out
Please continue to make these videos!

Very informative dude reminds me of gacy
Great explanation and using the vet you may not need that expensive equipment and maintenance.
From his daily routine to his commodity strategies. This guy covers so much. Thank you sir.
You are doing well in your family run farm . We raise stock here in Aotearoa & wean them & place them in paddocks to graze on pasture & finish them to sales & send to stockyards or reps from silver fern farms & affco. Aotearoa have good cattle.
Good way to destroy your farm. Need to roll that out.
That would be a bad idea. Cattle would just trample most of it into the mud. Good bale spacing is the only solution. The land would need a bit more rest before grazing. Otherwise this is the best you can do if live in the southern rainy winter areas.
Excellent talk. Wish we had more like this. 100% loved this. :)
Very nice set up
great setup! i definitely got to get one of those for about 400 head.
Wow 1700 in and out each year, thats one hell of an operation! And on 550 acres. Ha! Impressive, most Impressive(in Darth Vader voice)
Does that just mean $1700 a year?
Jake Wirtanen $170,000

What a wonderful resource. Thank you.
This seems very easy if you don't have to do anything besides insert and pull the CIDR (no shots along with the CIDR) The pulling of the CIDR can be done without even running through the chute with tame cows or the ability to just put in a small pen.
Great story thanks for sharing. I’m been in the cattle business since 1962 after seeing your show I can see some things I can use in my cattle operation .
Hello. I recently came across your video. I drew up plans for my own monoslope building not to long ago. Did you all build it yourself? Or do you have a contractor I could get in contact with? Thanks.
Reach out to your Extension office, they can get you in contact with an engineer to be sure the structure is built to handle appropriate snow and wind loads
Informative. I liked it
very good video you always learn the most from people who have done it and can chage with times best advice talk to someone like yourself instead of taking big hit thank you
Hello I have a few feeders in the fall I was wondering if u buy feeders from individuals

Cool
How big are the finishing barn
Anybody who raises cattle would benefit from this video. Thank you
Great content
Considering that, would you suggest to graze on stockpile grass until the ground is frozen enough to bale graze on it?
Yes, this would be ideal. We unfortunately don't have many days with frozen ground
@@jefflehmkuhler5666 I'm facing the same problem too much raining and not as many days of having frozen ground as would like. It still way better than having your cattle standing in mud on a small sacrificial feeding lot.
Is it all concrete floor
for the Smart Ear Tag
How many days for the baseline of the animal?
I am a firm believer in resting cattle for atleast 2 or 3 days after they come in whether it be bred cows or calves.. Only exception is if I notice one with a sickness or injury.. It just makes the cattle calm down faster and normally easier to put an through the chute when they've had those few days to rest..
