How many litres of water for 1000 doses?
Ideally, I usually use 1/4 of my daily water ratio. Mix the vaccine and leave it for like 2 hours then refill the drinkers with fresh water afterwards.
How often do you change your bedding? Loving your work so much
Hello Thia, Thank you for your kind feedback. I really appreciate it. Regarding the bedding, I usually change them twice during any given production cycle. mostly due to the fact, that it's not costly and I wouldn't wish to risk my flock. The goal is usually to ensure the bedding is dry all the time.
Tavuk 🐔🐔🐔 teşekkürler selamlar efendim
Thankyou :)
That's how weeds are disturbing us Whites brought axaliscorniculata as flower Latana Camara that has destroyed live fence now has covered and destroyed our national park and farms in Africa Water hyacinth has destroyed our fresh water lakes in East Africa I won't recommend spreading weed as feeds The cost of controlling it is high once it reaches our lakes rivers and wetlands There are other alternatives than this weed Who bewitched Africa
While everyone is entitled to have a stand and believe, that's why we agree to disagree and on azolla I disagree with you. You seem to be highly opiniated on why weeds (water hyacinth among others) have detrimental effect, while you are right on that, you entirely missed the point. I am talking about azolla and for your reference its an alternative means of feeding (protein source) especially for small scale poultry farmers. No, Africa is not bewitched, we simply have young curious minds who are willing to test theories, innovative, learn and grow.
On a second note, Thank you for sharing your concerns. I understand the worry about introducing species that can become invasive, as we've seen with plants like Lantana camara and water hyacinth. However, Azolla has several qualities that differentiate it from those examples: Controlled Environment: Azolla can be grown in a controlled environment, such as lined ponds, which minimizes the risk of it spreading to unintended areas. Biodegradable and Non-Toxic: Azolla is a biodegradable plant that does not produce toxins harmful to other plants or animals. Nutrient-Rich Feed: It's a highly nutritious feed for livestock, poultry, and fish, which can reduce reliance on expensive commercial feeds and improve food security. I agree that it's crucial to be mindful of potential ecological impacts. We can mitigate the risks by implementing strict management practices and educating farmers about proper cultivation techniques. Ongoing research and local trials can help us better understand and manage its growth.
Wont the water stink after sometime?
Under normal conditions, an Azolla pond should not produce a strong or unpleasant odor. However, if certain issues arise, such as stagnant water, decaying organic matter, or nutrient imbalances, the pond water might start to smell. You can solve this by regularly remove decaying plant, Monitor nutrient levels, Use clean, non-chlorinated water etc.
I have aquired azolla unfortunately mine is getting brown and not multiplying
add fresh manure & azolla should be exposed to sunlight 👍👍
Ideally I would say there is lack of nutrients and as Farirai has advised, - Regularly add organic fertilizers such as cow dung slurry or compost to maintain nutrient levels. - You should also avoid much direct sunlight can cause the water temperature to rise and inhibit growth. With those two covered you will be well to go.
Nice work friend. The problem with spreading the manure into the water is that when you harvest the azola you pick with the chicken dropping floating on the surface of water. Next time put the manure into a porous sack then place them on the four corners, you can also put one in the middle. The manure will be sipping from the sack and mixing in the water, stir the water slowly for even spread. This mtd also prevent water from being too mucky. Stepping into the pond can also make holes in the lining leading to water loss, I used to tie a pole on the basin that I was using to collect the weeds, also after harvesting rinse the harvested weed with water and recycle the water I to the pond as it has manure.. I love your work sir
Had frog problem when I tried mine. But I now have learnt of a sln from this video
Hey Friend, Good to see you again, You have simply given me a free masterclass on Azolla production. For which I am eternally grateful. To be honest with you, I made all the rookie mistakes possible, I was just curious to see if I could produce. I think with the next pond, I will certainly follow your insights and will get better results. I think that the essence of sharing. I really appreciate your inputs.
@@Vethub11 That's interesting, you had a pond before? How did it perform? also what was the production like? Then for frogs, I am curious, in the first and second production were absent but I have started to see some tiny frogs in the recent harvest. How do you control them?
@@Afrifama fencing around with the net(around 75cm high) helped In my situation as frogs and toads can't leap that high. At the bottom cover the net with soil to prevent them from passing under. I don't see the essence of covering on top, was at diani where we experience same climate cdns to malindi.i never covered on top yet they don't even wither. Use the net to make a perimeter around instead.. production was very high, for my case I used dry cowdung as manure was harvesting after every three days
@@Vethub11 Brilliant, I agree with you. Surprisingly I was thinking of the same idea just yesterday. Since we have the shade net in abundance I can certainly make more use of it.
Amazing video, Happy chickens.. its Christmas for them 😅😅😅😅😅
Thanks brother! Defintly they will be ready for Christmas! Don't be surprised if you get 4.5Kg per bird! With azolla serving as their part of diet.
Interesting video, I didn't know there was another alternative way to feed chicken. Great insights Afrifama!
Glad it was helpful! Ideally Azolla can provide alternative source of protein poultry.
@@Afrifama Appreciate it brother🙏🏾

Hey Maureen, you can reach me via afrifamapoultry@gmail.com.
I use starter of koudaijs for 14days and for growers iuse concentrate 100kg of koudaijs+200kg of broken maize i add 2kg of salt and 10kg of lime is the ratio ok with growers coz my birds are my birds are not growing at all and i get them from Ken chic.
I have never used concentrate but I know Koudaijs as a reputable company. I think maybe what you can do is consult some of their experts to advise you on the best ratios for concentrated.
I have seen farmers like Farm Up use the same and they have performed extremely well, possibly you can also reach out and see what the secret is.
Ok thanks
How many feeders and drinkers for each 100 chicks?
Mostly I usually do a distribution ratio of 3 big drinkers (10 liters) and 3 big feeders (10 Kgs) for 100 birds. However, 1 drinker\feeder can comfortably feed 50 birds.
May God 🙏 bless your work coz you have a good heart.
@@KobusingeLucy-od2ng Thank you Lucy You are too kind. I just like sharing what I know, it can inspire someone else out there.
Ok thanks for teaching me about litter management coz my birds are dieing coz of coccidiosis even if I buy medicine they are not ok at all.
You are welcome! if you follow the above steps I believe you will have success at your farm. coccidiosis can be such a nightmare if unchecked.
After they are hatched, you give them food after how many days n what of water??
Hello paul, Ideally I usually administer water with some multivitamins (Egocin/chick start) the first day after removing the chicks from the hatching machine. However, the chicks can even last a day without feeding.
As for the feeds, I feed them after two hours of administering water.
Ihave failed to keep my litter dry please teach me how to do it
Hello Lucy, Based on my experience there are three ways I use to ensure the litter is dry; 1. Put enough litter during the brooding stage, this is essential for the next step. 2. Always turn your litter in the morning probably 2-3 days in the morning, it ensure the wet litter on top is mixed with the dry on the bottom. 3. Lastly, I usually change my litter on day 18 of brooding. This is usually when I notice the presence of ammonia. NB: The first two can be effective if you don't have a big flock.
Hello how can I reach you?
Hello Filmon, Thank you for inquiry, you can certainly connect with me via afrifamapoultry@gmail.com

Please help how do you feed them
Hello Nancy, at Afrifama we usually start from day 18 but gradually and by day 22 we switch to fully to finisher pellets. Day 18 : 3/4 starter + 1/4 finisher Day 19 : 1/2 starter + 1/2 finisher Day 20 : 1/4 starter + 3/4 finisher Day 22 : full finisher Hopefully this helps, Aslo watch this for more insights ruclips.net/video/apbV_d19pYM/видео.htmlsi=uPJ6TSqOtbjXTcXo

Hello Wairimu, there is a vlog I did a while back which will help you understand how to go about Marketing ruclips.net/video/GrAhC8Ayfqg/видео.htmlsi=TaL2q-dFVopZ_mZA However, my advice will always be to start with the market analysis before you kickstart your project, talk to potential clients, and understand their needs.
Amazing stuff 😊 I love the demo! How many days does it take to hatch?
Ideally, it takes 21 days to hatch the chicks, though in some instances the chicks can come out as early as day 20.
How can l get this chick's
If you are based in Kenya, liaise with either Isinya or Kenchic and they will definitely get you the best breed of day-old chicks.
Amazing job well done 👏 requesting for a chicken coop tour
Thank you, possibly in the next few months (July) will be open for farm visits 🙂 And you are welcome.

hi sir , i am from Ph are this chicks/chickens on adlibitum feeding? if not can you share your feeding guide with me, thanks a lot
Hello, I am not sure what adlibitum feeding is but if it is related to antibiotics I would say partly yes use them to prevent the occurrence of disease at he farm and the rest is just normal feeding routine and ensuring bio security protocols are adhered to.
@@Afrifama i mean unlimited feeding, adlibitum is unli feeding or are you limiting their daily intake of feeds, thanks a lot
@@ittourasetsu5722 Thank you for the explanation, Ideally, we don't limit the feeds. We ensure that they are available all throughout the day.
