Roses & Rovers
Добавлен 5 окт 2022
We're Courtney and Austin Rose. We are rewards-based Professional Dog Trainers in the Bristol, VA/TN area. We use science to guide our understanding of how dogs function in the modern world. We do not use force, intimidation, pain, threats or coercion. This means that we do not use aversive methods (such as prong collars, e-collars, citronella, leash corrections, etc.) in our training protocols, but instead use a force free approach to training. We believe that all dogs have the right to exist in their natural states of mind and behavior. And we believe that dogs are not robots for humans to program, but rather canine partners with their own thoughts, feelings and desires and training should reflect this truth. We don't believe that there are “bad dogs”, but rather some dogs that lack the framework for how to exist in our homes and society. We are committed to the highest standards of the industry and strive to work toward those with each client.

In this video, Courtney works with Maverick to address triggers in the space they occupy. They are playing a game called Look-at-That. Maverick is proficient at this game and is a good example of how this can be used long-term to engage with the environment in a positive way. You'll notice that he doesn't always turn toward the trigger to let her know that he has acknowledged it, but this doesn...

what's happening: In this video we see Sassy learning how to trim her own nails using a DIY scratchboard. We've begun by placing a treat under the washcloth to lure her down to the board. When Sassy is interested in the treat and touches the board, we marked/reinforced for any interaction to build engagement. Then as Sassy got more confident, we raised our criteria to require her feet to touch ...
