I had a emerson 502 that originally had the white plaskon one. I found another emerson about the same year, but a woodie with an identical shaped clear front, and swapped the fronts around as the plaskon white one was not attractive. I thought this might be my old radio that I sold a long time ago, but mine had a bowed down top, a symmetrical warp that looked almost like it was designed that way, but wasn't. It must had been stored with a heavy weight on it, bowing it down before I found it at an auction. This one's top doesn't seem warped, and I am surprised to see another one with a clear front.

It's wild finding someone else with this exact radio. Listening to mine as I type this. Still works in 2021 and all original, never restored or repaired to my knowledge.

The Royal 500E is an Excellent performer, both sensitivity and audio wise. They don't seem to be as collectable as the earlier versions, but are great "daily driver " radios.

I had one like it some 35 years ago.I friend of mine picked it up at a yard sale in Coos Bay,Oregon for $2.50.I'd like to find another one to go with my Silvertone 5227 as both were similar to the RCA Victor "Strato World" receiver which is on my wish list of Zenith Trans Oceanic clones.

That's a typewriter spool! Movie film spools would never have openings in the flange like that. The flange is supposed to protect the film from light exposure.

Impossible to know if a speaker sounds good with no comparison, how was this recorded? with a professional mic, your iphone mic? What is the point, I may as well be looking at a photo, the sound you offer is nothing without a comparison.

Coooool - can i ask you a technical question about your vertical technics deck? I want to buy one of these and have seen some in the US. I live in the the UK. do you know if the decks have a dual voltage switch to switch between 110 and 240V. If they do that woudl be AMAZING. Many standard technics decks have a dual voltage switch slightly hidden somewhere/behind the platter? Thanks so much if you can help my quest ! S

I have one of these! My father bought it new. It has cracks and paint splatters, but still works. Economy may force sale, sadly.
