What readers are your kiddos using?
My daughter is using the readers for all about reading, and my son is using the readers provided by Bookshark for their language arts program 😊
@@yahairasclassroom7715 Thank you! It seems like the books at the library for pre-readers to Level 1 jump so quickly in assuming kids understand "special sounds" as Abeka terms them but it's been frustrating for my 7 year old who has needed things to be more gentle in helping her with learning to read. This helps a lot!
Of course! I completely understand, my daughter really struggled in the beginning and it just barely clicked towards the end of our school year and now she’s able to read short stories with some help. I really like bob books too because they’re short and sweet and help boost that confidence when they are able to finish the full book by themselves or with minimum help. I’m sure you’re doing amazing and if I can help in any way please don’t hesitate to ask ☺️

I haven’t posted one yet but do plan on doing an update on the different subjects. Story short, so far we are still going strong with this, I for one love the books that come with the program ☺️. Thank you for watching!
Hey..thank you for this informative video..I am very interesting but still looking into different curriculums. Being a non Christian, I would like to know if there are any references to religion in any of the books..thanks
I just can’t get passed the fear of the crate being turned over and dumped out by a pet or a toddler or myself accidentally 🤦♀️. So…We keep our books intact for storage and put six weeks at a time in a binder.
I definitely get that, I tend to keep mine in the filing cabinet away from prying hands. I also implemented the binder this year and it definitely helps as well. Love that you found something that works for your family ☺️. Thank you for watching!

I just watched your other video and it's so funny because I totally was looking into this for science as well! :)
My son is loving it so far! I’m loving the simplicity of the open and go curriculum. A lot of reading, but he is helping me read as well. We barely finished the first week though but so far it’s working for us ☺️
This was extremely helpful! I don't want to get the history to go with it and was wondering if this is doable with just the instructor's manual and the readers.
Hi! We are on our first week of this program and so far so good. The only time it has mentioned the history portion is in the vocabulary development part where it says that it ties in with the history programs read aloud and the words and vocabulary development instructions are in the history instructors guide but I just use wordly wise for my sons vocabulary development and that has been working so far. If I feel he needs more vocabulary then I will probably just seek a workbook that contains vocab.

My daughter fell behind in reading and writing. I don't know if it's me that isn't teaching her correctly or if she isn't interested enough. It drives me crazy.
Judith first of all let me say I’m sorry to hear about your frustration, I’ve felt this when I’ve watched videos of kids and felt like my son was not in the same level as them. But it’s helped me to remember that the beauty of homeschooling is that If something isn’t working for us we can try something else and if all else fails I can seek help outside of the homeschool room. If you don’t mind me asking, in what manner does your daughter learn best? Is she visual learner, an auditory learner? Also feel free to message me on Instagram if you feel more comfortable.☺️

@@judith3413 I believe it would depend on your state. If I were searching for extra help in reading and phonics, I would search for a reading interventionist near me. I would also ask to possibly sit in on the first lessons just to see how my son was doing and how I could help support his learning more in our classroom.

Would you do 2 subjects the same year? Meaning biology and physics? Or would you just stick to one subject per year?
Hi Pamela 😄, I’m not sure that I would do 2 in one year as it is geared for one subject per year. However, as this is my first year using this I can’t say for certain. It could be that once we get into this program for the year I will find that we are just speeding through it and are able to do 2 different subjects in one year. I will try to update once we have gotten into the program and have used it for a bit. Thank you for your question and for watching!

I used Abeka in our kids younger years and I'm actually going to swing back around to Abeka for a few subjects for my middle schoolers. So Solid!
Yes I really thought the online teacher did an amazing job teaching the subject. I am planning on possibly going back once my son is a little older since they are accredited as well.

Thank you so much for watching! Although I had considered the Bookshark science curriculum I was wanting something that was more catered to the actual study. For the Noeo science, the literature and teachings are catered more for biology, then chemistry and last physics. I’m not sure if this is the same with Bookshark as when I was reading the description it wasn’t too clear for me. I want to be able to have one area of science to focus on, master, and then move on to the next. Hope this helps! 😄

How did Abeka Language Arts work for you? I'm considering it for next year.
Hi Amie! I personally loved it, the teacher for 1st grade did an amazing job at teaching phonics and writing. My son did learn a lot with reading as well and is now able to read small chapter books to me with limited help. However, he was not a fan. He didn’t like to be sitting in front of the computer, he dreaded it when I would tell him it was time to do Abeka. I had to be on him a lot of times to pay attention and repeat after the teacher and so although he did learn a lot I could tell he really disliked it so this next school year we will be going a different route. I feel that his dislike for the program could be due to his age as well so we may revisit Abeka during his middle school years as they are an accredited program. Hope this helps!

I used All About Reading for kindergarten and am considering a switch to Abeka for 1st. How did Abeka work for you?
Do U have any idea that what is the difference between Bookshark science and Noeo science curriculum?
I’m sorry I’m not too sure on this. I have the language arts portion of Bookshark and did notice that they provide readers to go with the lessons but also recommend other workbooks such as wordly wise, explode the code, etc. to go with the program. Not sure if they do this with the science portion as well.

Another question: Do u have any system of storing n organizing this curriculum seeing we get lot of stuff with it
Currently I am storing all my curriculum in a drawer but in the next coming months, I do plan on going through all my curriculum and organizing it. I was planning on using the file system that I used last year but with all the readers involved, as well as the supplies for the experiments, I think I'm going to have to rethink it. 😅

Great video! Thank you A quick question: What do u mean that biology 1 is for grade 1 through 3?
Thank you for watching! So on the website it recommends using biology 1 for grades 1 to 3. So you can use it for a 1st grader, a 2nd grader or a 3rd grader. This is helpful if your schooling multiple aged children if they fall within this grades. Ex: if you have a first grader and a third grader and you want to use the same science curriculum for both, then biology 1 can be used for both instead of getting separate science curriculums for your first grader and your third grader. Let me know if this explanation helps!

You can still order the History program and customize it to remove the readers you already have ordered. I've done that myself last year.

Yes, I really liked the fact that much of the learning is done through books. Definitely excited to get started on this soon! Science is one of the subjects that I have struggled to find good curriculum for that is engaging, so I'm hopeful with this one. Thank you for watching!

Great video but I had to stop watching. it's hard to see due to focusing going in and out and lighting. Not trying to critique at all but I'd want to know what others thought if I made a video! Hopefully its helpful.
