Beautiful, poignant and wrenching. I feel really bad for Robert Reed. What he wanted was not what the show was ever going to be. I wish he could have known how valued he was all because of that quirky show.
@@helenofirvine Thank you for the kind words. Greatly appreciated. - Jack Perez
Funyest line: "what famly livs like this" . . .😅😂
I think with this show in particular it started as an innocent fun loving show. But as time went on it became evident that everyone was growing up and they loss the sense of self awareness in which they forgot who they were. They put on this front for 5 years and it became tiresome. On a final note it became a paycheck and unfortunately they became typecasted.
What a sad ending for Robert. I've watched this show my whole life! ❤
Thank you for taking me somewhere, an escape from the knowledge of society. To be good 👍 behave 🤔 better times!
Some of this stuff didn't happen the way it did.
I don't recall these scenes being in the episode.
Where is this from, anyway?
@@sha11235 television film. Made in 2000. Aired on Fox.
The scene with Bob and Lloyd would never have happened in front of the kids. And that scene isn't even in the episode.
@@sha11235 too bad
Gene Hackman was Sherwood's original choice for Mike, but the studio nixed it because at the time, he wasn't as known yet. Update: I see it is mentioned in a later scene,
I’m surprised Tom wasn’t running on it
That is Tom slapping his hands for real when he hears Stanley off camera, "OK, take 100."
i always thought the city looked off. And i knew that it was filmed in england and not nyc which makes it uncanny
Was it intentional to look fake?
It's the same technology Stanley used to fake the moon landings.
Why? Just walk through downtown Cleveland.
Why?
Geez, what an ending
Couldn't he just, like, walk down a road?
I do have to say that the man who played Bob not being happy about playing Mike did a great job of playing Bob not being happy about playing Mike, except, as noted elsewhere, he looks more like Barry playing Greg, and whoever was playing Greg looks like a better Bob playing Mike except for the voice. The voice of the man playing Bob not liking playing Mike needs to stay with Mike, even though the man playing Barry would be a better Bob playing Mike.
only a demented and/or a genius would even have the open mindedness to consider this was an option
My god i laughed as a kid with the car scene on clockwork orange, but now i know that kubric fooled me!
i'm... my mind broke. i can't tell if i'm mad or overjoyed
The kids overplayed their hand. There singing was not going anywhere. Robert Reed seemed to want Citizen Kane like scripts for a family comedy show.
It looks like it's a projector or screen now but when I saw the movie it looked real. strange.
This is basically what they did with the tornado in The Wizard of Oz, and it works shockingly well.
I know why they did it but it was hard seeing someone else play the family.
Enjoyed!
Those glove smacks man. Tom was great in this.
Roberrt Reed and Tina Louise should have done a show together since they hated the shows they were in.
How about the 77 hubcaps dropped by the Mopar?
Reed was a good actor, but he had to know the TV fare Sherwood was into based on the creator's past endeavors: The Red Skelton Show (sketches), It's About Time (about cave men/ woman), Gilligan's Island. The Bard vs the Bradys. Well, the Bard is literary gold' but the Bradys captured the hearts of several generations. It is America in our hearts, like Mayberry RFD. And this is their legacy and the reason they endure. Real vs escapism? Who wanted to see political assassinations, war, racial strife? Swartz was right, Reed was wrong.
OMG this is SOOO STUPID!
Well that explains why it looks weird
Geez, everything is fake - smoke and mirrors. Something seemed odd about those scenes and wondered if they were shot on a studio lot in LA.
Never fuckin knew that. 😶
Now that I know it, I kind of see it. It gives a dream like feel to the scene.
Kubrick’s only failure
I think you mean best film.
Not a failure, but one of his more misunderstood films
Why would they need to do this instead of on location? Seems doing it for real would be less work.
You need filming permits, hiring security, blocking roads and crowds + the weather. Its more efficient and cost effective this way.
I simply do not understand all those saying that this was a good effect. It looked obvious and bad to me when i first saw the film and I've noticed it every time I've watched it since.
Well arnt you the very bestest, your blue peter badge will be with you in one to three working days....
@mansonmason6119 Thanks 😊
clearly faked!!!!!!! the sound of his footsteps are obviously on a real sidewalk. you have never used a treadmill and it shows. typical of an out of shape loser who has never gone to a gym, let alone even left their house, in the past several years. your transparently bad faith attempts to discredit the work of the thousands of non-union workers who slaved away for sixteen months building this entire city during the production of this masterpiece of practical cinema makes me want to vomit in my mouth. my grandfather, John Argyle Clementine Senior III was the chief engineer overseeing the six hundred thousand pounds of concrete they poured for the sidewalks on every set they built for this movie. tragically, he died back in 2013, but i take pity in the fact that he never had to be exposed to this horrible video trying to downplay the groundbreaking work he and his boys put in. i find your total inability to analyze the medium of film quite appalling, and i pronounce you with media illiteracy.
That's amazing! I would have never guessed that! It's like i couldn't believe when I discovered the interior of the hotel in The Shining was actually studio set at Elstree!
And this is the problem with modern movies. All the outdoor scenes look wrong because it is impossible to perfectly replicate the effects of authentic natural outdoor lighting, the (real) sun, shadows and reflections (though it does work better at night). Compare any golden age movie to modern ones - in the golden age movie the characters really look like they are outdoors because they are (in most cases).
Believe nothing you see.
Wow really? I hadn’t noticed, I also haven’t seen the film since it came out in theaters.
I highly doubt Barry Williams threatened to squeeze Sherwood Schwartz. Sherwood was a BOSS.
Greg and Carol got busy?? Wow
о спасибо (с)
