Synthetic made ones are called kashaka

Traditional by far. Sounds more dense; the wood reverberates way better. Not sharp sounding hollow cracks like synthetic. Traditional has more presence on the shake.

Where do I buy?

Interesting they sound very different but I am unsure if is one better than the other. The first one has a different shaker and hitting sound. I feel the main difference is the synthetic projects more where the traditional one has a more mellow tone to it's hitting and a totally different shaking sound. I'd say they could both very well have their places and purposes as two different but relating instruments and it can depend on that setting and the individual musicians preference Which do you prefer? I don't have a preference

Beautiful. Transported to a new place. Technically brilliant as ever and emotionally stimulating. Great mix of percussive and melody in this piece and things I'm sure I've not seen from other players. Is there such a thing as experimental handpan? If so I think this is it. I have started playing in the last 6 months, very basic, D Kurd 9, and don't ask me the brand! I'm starting later in life after playing many other instruments in the past and have to say no instrument speaks to my soul quite like a handpan. In the hands of someone who knows what they are doing and feels every vibration and its meaning, that's when you get a piece of music like this. Thank you!
