I love the relationship this adult man has with his mom. She saved their lives in more ways than one.

Just read this. I'm from the US, so I'm not familiar with the mythology, but between the chthonic ambience and the tragically gripping story, I found it impossible to put down. My heart yearns to know more about the traditions that informed this storytelling.

This sounds like a fun book.

I lived in Iran for two years until recently. My wife is Persian. They are very resilient. It is still a beautiful country with some of the most hospitable and generous people you would ever meet. The regime is a different thing entirely.....it's a corrupt, murderous kleptocratic dictatorship. It has nothing to do with Islam. It is about money and power.

I saw the book in a library a few days ago. I thought I'll buy it another time, but the imagery just didn't leave my mind, so I knew I had to get it. I just finished it and I think it was wonderful. It has a lot of charm to it that I can't quite put my finger on, so when the birds are falling out of the sky it felt heartbreaking but there were as many friends along the way as there were dangerous encounters and I think that's part of what made this read so enjoyable. I admire all of the effort that must've went into "The Wanderer", not just in the pretty drawings, but the visual storytelling as a whole. There's an entire world in this book, and an adventure with many emotions, and all of that is conveyed visually in such a wonderful way.

Just finished reading Everything Sad Is Untrue and absolutely loved it. I'm still processing and I'll probably go back and look at some quotes, but I did like those themes of truth and love and about the God who speaks and listens.
